Every time you think the main players in this case couldn't possibly be more despicable, more details are revealed that are even worse. I expect there are more to come.

I seriously can't believe that there are people still defending these kids and suggesting that stories from major news sources are simply made up to get attention...

Case in point: Lee Stranahan of Breitbart is in Steubenville now, tweeting about how inaccurately the story has been reported. Finally! A voice of reason! After two days of hearing how he's cleared up a lot of misconceptions, he links his story on Breitbart: "How the left hates Steubenville: because Franciscan University is pushing back on Obamacare." Seriously?!? Seriously?

I'm sure Fox News has already invited him on to talk about it.

Breitbart - credible and not just after a story? :floorlaugh:

Actually, I think it's despicable he's trying to use this to stab liberals. Pig

One more thing I've been meaning to add. How does anyone know she was drunk vs. GHB'd?

Of course it is logical to think she was drugged, as nobody actually SAW her drink alcohol. She drank something from a cup at the first party, but nobody can say what it was. Yet she proceeded to get more intoxicated as the evening wore on. In short, the result of the drug was that she became "intoxicated" which is a word used interchangeably with "drunk". Also, she waited too long to report it for a toxicology test to show GHB, so it's technically up in the air. She apparently was behaving as if she was drunk, slurring speech, unable to walk unaided, vomiting. Regardless of whether it was alcohol, GHB, or a combination
of the two, we can all agree she was "wasted."

I agree. I just want to read an account that accurately reflects the record and not someone skewing the facts for an agenda or a talk show appearance. Haven't seen it yet.

I think she was given a roofie, probably in the alcohol. I had that done to me once. I wonder if the victim remembers much/anything before she became so wasted, like that she hadn't had much alcohol.

Here's a story from 2010:
http://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/Central-Wash-U-Some-overdose-party-goers-may-be-886258.php

"The 12 young people were rushed to the hospital overnight after they overdosed on a powerful drug that apparently was mixed into their drinks without their knowledge at a Friday night party in Roslyn, police said.
Most of the victims were young women who attend Central Washington University. Detectives are now investigating whether they were given spiked drinks to render them defenseless against a sexual assault -- but were saved by the timely arrival of police at the scene.

"Everything was going fine, the music was playing, people were having fun -- and then all of a sudden all the girls were puking everywhere," she said. "Girls were outside on their backs."

An estimated 50 people were at the party, Ferguson said. He said none of the young people who overdosed meant to get high or unconscious, and none had more than one or two drinks."

If you go to the facebook page of one of the boosters who's allegedly involved in all of this you'll see a lot of very repulsive stuff. Some I'm sure is repulsive to anyone.

Tho this is a case that i continue to remain in lurkdom, I do however continue to closely follow it here as well as have continued to dig and dig and search and sleuth every tiny morsel of info that i can about it..

just wanted to say that I'm very glad that this despicable case seems to be picking up momentum.. God, how I pray that steadily continues and hopefully will continue gaining momentum..its beyond me how this has managed to safely fly beneath the radar of massive national media attention...cuz IMO it deserves A-One, Top Notch attention and coverage..IMO its the only chance we've got at truly seeing justice served and huge changes made to this school AND THIS ENTIRE TOWN!

AND NOW BACK TO LURKDOM I GO...

Thats localleaks, the Anonymous-run page. They source their information by saying the victim "allegedly" had a relationship with CS...then in comments "sopreziousbabyforealz" says I can confirm that CS did go out with victim, so a notation is added to the story "confirmed. See below." Thats not investigative journalism, IMO.

They now have Ohio Attorney General, DoJ, FBI all reviewing the case. If one respected legal mind, not a paid TH, scrutinizes the record and says Jane Hanlin did anything irregular or sketchy under the circumstances, if the webmaster's house is raided and evidence of a rape/child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 ring is produced, I will stand corrected and own up to it. I'm not going to bet against the gambling op, I'm not an idiot. Questioning the anything goes reporting does not mean I am defending/excusing the boys. Is the statistic 30+ sexual crimes every day in the United States? And the vast majority of those work their way successfully through the courts without massive media attention or Anonymous intervention.

I think their lawyer said it best; Leiderman, the LocalLeaks lawyer, while concerned, was also confident: "If they're going to sue 'em for defamation, good luck with it," he said.

I think they're putting up the truth, JMO

LISBON - Fallout from the Internet-fueled outrage over the Steubenville rape case is being felt in Columbiana County, and it has nothing to do with threats from a group calling itself Anonymous Columbiana County, which popped up online this week promising to expose unspecified corruption in our county.

I agree with much of what you said in your post hollyjokers, but I am not sure about this:
And the vast majority of those work their way successfully through the courts without massive media attention or Anonymous intervention.
A few different sources:

Out of every 100 rapes, 46 are reported, 12 result in arrests, 9 are prosecuted, 5 lead to conviction, 3 serve time.
http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/reporting-rates

From the Bureau of Justice Statistics (these are really old, inexplicably)

Factoring in unreported rapes, about 5% - one out of twenty - of rapists will ever spend a day in jail. 19 out of 20 will walk free

So I guess for me, the question is what is considered to be successfully working its way through the court system?

This country continues to have incredibly poor reporting statistics for rape. It has to be worth pursuing, as well as what leads to a successfully prosecuted rape case and what doesnt.

They are putting more agents on the rape case-to me it means that there is more information out there that they have discovered or gleaned or warrants a closer look.

Good news from where I sit. I bet the DOJ had some influence here...

It's good to see you! This must be one of the SHORTEST posts you have ever made *LOL* It's good to have you here, and I hope you will share any information/links you come across that we have missed.

Meanwhile, I hope protesters will be out in full force on 2/13/13. For those who may be interested in knowing, Amazon.com: V For Vendetta #4418 Mask (One Size Fits All): Toys & Games Guy Fawkes masks can be purchased for $5. This is the cheapest I have seen them.

I think this story is new:

EXCLUSIVE: SECOND girl 'was sexually assaulted at prom party attended by Ohio high school footballers - when she was just FOURTEEN'

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...footballers--just-FOURTEEN.html#ixzz2HihwdJ6h
It seems no one was particularly interested in the new article I linked to last night. Oh well.

Here is another new article that I think people really should read:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-claims-assault-revenge-slighted-girl-16.html

"EXCLUSIVE: High school footballer star apologizes for posting sickening picture of Ohio rape victim - but denies claims assault was revenge for being slighted by girl, 16
- Big Red Football star player, C--- S-------, 17, publicly said he regrets posting Instagram image that has come to define the case
- Steubenville High School student was present at earlier parties on night alleged rape took place and also called her ‘sloppy’
- Parents fought legal battle against claims made on internet that he wanted revenge and that he sent a message to victim's father calling her a '🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬'
- Mother says he is an 'awesome kid'

Much, much more...
