Isn't it amazing how all the 'tears and crying' stopped very quickly as soon as the lenient sentence was handed out.

sex offender status will be decided at a future date.

So don't sentance them now but tell the how they can make it work, so to speak?

:thud:

Get on with the civil suits.

Thrilled that the word "alleged" can now be dropped when referring to the Victim.

Do these people have money like that? Where it would actually matter?

What else is there to get out of civil court besides money, if these people don't have it? Maybe I missed that part of the case...

Couldn't watch the judge any more. He is treating the rapists like victims. Here is what you do to get out early. Learn how to use social media better. Ugh. There was no verbal reprimand. No verbal "this was unacceptable". This ruling is not going to encourage any teen who is assaulted to come forward. Jmo

Not only the 1 year thing...but also time served.

How long have they been locked up?

Do NOT like this option at all.

It should be mandatory!

How often they have to report as a sex offender is what will be determined.

Just got on. What were they found guilty of?

So glad this judge didn't let them walk out. Even if they only serve a year, that's a long time to a teen who's never been away from Mommy. Their educations and gridiron dreams are ruined and forget the prom and all those other irreplaceable high school milestones. Sealed records won't change the fact that everyone knows their names, faces and deeds. They will always have "rapist" attached to their names. They deserve all of it. I don't care how young they are, they revealed their true characters that night. This goes on all the time! I graduated from hs in 1980 and it happened at more than one drunken party, but we didn't have cell phones. And you know what? The same 3-4 guys who were raping in hs are at age 49 or 50 STILL horrible people!

You mean they will still be registered, and have to have visits with their report person (parole officer or whatever they are called)...just the number of times per year will be determined?

He did say something about adults having to do it every 90 days. Maybe they would only have to go twice a year or something?

If that is the case, maybe not such a tragedy. The judge's hands may have been tied with actual sentancing. Juvenile court is there in order to correct behaviors I guess.

They were found guilty and that's something the family should hold onto.

Indiana closed down a town's high school's sports program because fans were shouting racial slurs from the bleachers. Well, this is way worse than name calling. This was rape combined with a conspiracy to obstruct justice. This town loved their football so much and were ready to flush a victim's rights down the toilet. Close down the sports program till 2016.

Not only that but they won't qualify for govt asst for college. Or is that just for drug related charges?
