It was a cold and calculated crime. I hope he is Prosecuted to the fullest extent. He made the choice. I just cant help but wonder if all this kid ever knew was violence and never love. Not giving him a pass but again from descriptions given by fellow students if some intervention may have spared this from happening. How many other kids are walking around just ticking time bombs? Some choose to end their own lives or the lives of others.

Poor choice of words by the police chief: "I've got some bullet points prepared here..."

Per HLN. Next presser at 4:30 today. I believe his Court appearance is today at 3:30.

Can someone recap the presser?

Lawyer Bob Farinacci, speaking for Lane's family, said late Monday night that the 17-year-old was "extremely remorseful."

"Very, very scared and extremely remorseful,"
he told CNN affiliate WKYC.

"He is a very confused young man right now," Farinacci added.
"He's very confused. He is very upset. Um, he's very distraught...himself.
This is a very scary circumstance that I don't think he could have possibly even foreseen himself in the middle of."

Poor boy! Confused, upset, and distraught. Found himself in the middle of a school shooting. How will he ever recover from something like this??

What a piece of work this attorney is. Disgusting.

And here is my line of reasoning (in case anyone wonders). I graduated from high school in 1983. School shootings didn't occur back then. Why? What has changed in our world, that now these things happen? .

School shootings have always occurred. The reporting on them is much stronger now. This link goes through all the years from 1700-current. With several big ones happening in the late 1700's - early 1980's when you attended school. You just didn't hear about them.

Since 2005 the number killed from school shootings has DRASTICALLY decreased.

I was only half listening because I'm at work. The one official looking fellow spoke about healing the community, and this is a "wake up call" to talk to our kids. He also said school would resume on Friday. The police chief said that they are still not releasing the suspect's name "for legal reasons" but once the suspect goes before the judge today, he'll be able to release more info. He also said he received word early this morning, some time after 4 AM if IIRC, that Russell King had passed.

Sorry, that's all I was able to catch.

From what I heard, schools are open tomorrow for staff only and will have counslors for them. Thurs, school will be open for students and parents to go together. Friday it will go back to its regular schedule.

"Bob Farinacci, the Lane's family attorney, gave this statement to the media: "They want to give their most heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family of the young man who passed and their continuing prayers are with all those who were injured. This is something that could never have been predicted. TJ's family has asked for some privacy while they try to understand how such a tragedy could have occurred and while they mourn this terrible loss for their community."

Also at above link "The victims were found in three separate locations in the school. Authorities are not elaborating on the locations right now."

That seems to contradict all reports that they were shot at one table in the cafeteria? Bad reporting ?

What is the hearing today -- an arraignment?

Everything I've seen / read just says a juvi court hearing. NO indication of what that will entail.

This is entirely supposition, but from what I've been able to piece together from news and eye witness accounts, it appears that the three young men shot in the cafeteria were sitting together and were all shot in the head.

Another young man (Nick?) appears to have been shot in the hallway. There were witness accounts that a teacher heard his moans and opened the door and pulled the victim inside the classroom.

The young woman was shot in the behind. I'm guessing she was running away and may have still been mobile after she was shot but collapsed later, which may explain why she was found in another area.

What I haven't been able to figure out is the sequence. Were the hall shootings the first, or was the cafeteria where the violence began?

This link has the dispatch calls. Answering my own post, it appears that victims were found in two different places. The cafeteria and room 200.
