Where is the Auburn Career Center? Do they meet in the cafeteria to go to the alternative school and the career center?

Confused...

Auburn Career Center is a 15 minute ride from Chardon High School. They were waiting in the cafeteria for the busses to come to take them there.

Plus the fact of the one boy stated on TV they used to hang out together. Until he started distancing himself.

Miller said the Nolans have been principally responsible for raising Chardon shooting suspect TJ Lane since he was just 5 years old. Miller explained how the task of raising T.J. fell upon the Nolans after TJ's parents divorced.
"You can't describe any better people than Jack and Carol," said Miller. "Good people, good Christian values, they opened their home up to raise these grandchildren."
Miller told NewsChannel5 the Nolan's also played a key role in raise TJ Lane's sister and half-brother. Miller told 5 On Your Side TJ Lane was always respectful and seemingly good natured.

"He went to a technical school in Willoughby, he was having problems here in Chardon as far as his grades," he said. "The kid turned things around, what I understand he is an 'A' or 'B' student, and he was going to graduate early."

Prosecutor: Ohio shooting suspect is 'not well'
By THOMAS J. SHEERAN and KEVIN BEGOS, AP

CHARDON, Ohio — The teenager accused of killing three students in a shooting spree in an Ohio high school cafeteria chose his victims at random and is "someone who's not well," a prosecutor said Tuesday as the slightly built young man appeared in juvenile court.

T.J. Lane, 17, admitted taking a .22-caliber pistol and a knife to Chardon High and firing 10 shots at a group of students sitting at a cafeteria table Monday morning, Prosecutor David Joyce said. Joyce said Lane will probably be charged with three counts of aggravated murder and other offenses.

The hearing came hours after the death toll rose to three, and as schoolmates and townspeople grappled with the tragedy and wondered what could have set the gunman off — a mystery the court appearance did nothing to solve...

Sounds like they may go for some plea deal? Isn't it rare that a prosecutor says the suspect is "not well"?

Something I found interesting with the 911 calls - it was reported to 911 that he had a knife as well. We haven't heard anything about the knife - just that he had one. Was he brandishing this knife? How did people that were calling 911 know he had a knife? It's been reported that he wasn't talking - that he was silent the whole time - so how did people know he had a knife?

I thought that remark was strange, too. I hope the prosecutor doesn't regret his words. jmo

I don't buy that he didn't know these kids. When I went to Mt. Vernon High School (a town larger than Chardon)... which is a triple A school... we had 350 roughly in our graduating class IIRC... I knew MOST of the kids in my class by name. Even if we weren't friends and hung out, I knew WHO they were. So yeah, not drinking the defense's kool-aid.

When I got home I googled it. The Supreme Court abolished the death penalty for juveniles in 2005. This March they will hear arguments about whether LWOP is "cruel and unusual" punishment for juvenile killers.

TJ will not be eligible for the death penalty and, depending on the outcome in March, he may not even be eligible for LWOP.

THIS is what it should be about! The VICTIMS!!! :maddening::maddening::maddening:

Oh this is so heartbreaking and you can tell the mother is in shock, this is just the beginning of the long road ahead. My prayers go out to them.My thoughts ,TJ Lane should never see the light of day ever again.

Glad you missed this part of the article:

The high court abolished the death penalty for juveniles in 2005 and ruled in 2010 that life sentences without parole for juveniles were unconstitutional except in cases of homicide.

Some good news, if there can be a bright light in this tragedy. Ohio mandates that 16 or 17 year old who commit murder with a firearm MUST be tried as adults.

http://www.ohiobar.org/Pages/LawYouCanUseDetail.aspx?itemID=380

Q: When is trial as an adult required?
A: Trial as an adult is mandatory in certain very serious cases: (1) when the charge is aggravated murder or murder, and the child is 16 or 17 and has been committed to an Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) facility; and (2) when the charge is a certain serious felony offense, and the child is age 16 or 17 and either has previously been committed to a DYS facility or used a firearm while committing the offense. If the court finds that these conditions exist and that there is probable cause to believe that the child committed the offense, the child must stand trial as an adult. There are also other limited circumstances in which the child must stand trial as an adult.
