Wondering if the boots or shoes were muddy, or bloody and perp did not want them in his vehicle, maybe also too clunky and difficult to maneuver?
speculation.

oh no really? aww she died :(..wow Dr Strangelove?? I could not find anything on her, I was assuming her last name was Lewis but I was not sure. Was that her last name? What did you find? Thank you

I did some looking into and it appears Jeanine passed away a few years ago so it isn't her. But the resemblance is uncanny

Her last name was probably the same as her husband's (the photographer) but I actually found her by (or more specifically her husbands posts about her) by looking through the photographer Facebook. She died of cancer, collen (sorry if it's spelled wrong) i believe

Yeah, quite possible. Or could identify her or the perp somehow. Or she wasn't wearing any shoes. Or they were loose and just fell off somewhere.

Or, more sadly, she had nice boots or maybe those knee-high moccasins that were in style back then, and he just kept them because they were too nice to throw away.

Anyone know what motels were near that area that BSG was found back then? Bikers often stay at motels when on the road.

Rebekah Home for Girls

That UID has been identified, she was from Michigan and was not associated with the home. However there could be homes that followed the name on the shoe process it is a thought thou.

There were and are thousands of homes like this around the country...run by churches, social agencies, government agencies, etc. and many of them have bad records for mistreating the children they're supposed to help. It's really a shocking story and it mystifies me why nobody pays more attention.

BSG seems to be far to well cared-for to have come from a group home: Back in 1980 I knew people who spent time in group homes, and they were all quite problematic in terms of hygiene, and they had absolutely no money for clothes, etc. I suppose it's possible BSG was in a group home and then when she left had met someone...

I came across this Ross County Fair which is not to far from where the Buckskin Girl was found. According to their website they were going on in 1981. I know they have things on their website that are held in April but not sure if that was going on in 1981.. But either way I thought I would share this

http://www.rosscountyfair.com/agricultural-society/index.htm

The tobacco spitting contest was an addition in*1975, and in*1976, a competition for men only was the fullest beard, best goatee, and the fullest mustache. There was a "Pack the Pinto" contest in*1977, which was to see who could get the most people weighing the most number of pounds into a Pinto (automobile). Community organizations were more involved in the fair and the Ross County Fire and Rescue helped with the emergencies, vets assisted with livestock, and the grounds were cleaned by the Scioto Trail Youth Conservation Corps. At the demolition derby, there was even a wedding! Only at the Ross County Fair!
Grandstand Appeal
The fairs of*1978*and*1979*were great ones as well. In*1980, our county fair queen, Vicki Francis, also won the title of Miss Ohio State Fair Queen. Good weather was recorded and the attendance records kept climbing upward during*1981*through 1983.

It is THE buckskin shirt. I asked the seller if he knew anything about it.

  • #2,573
I sent it in as a tip.

According to Wikipedia, she had only been dead for thirty-six to fifty hours when they found her.

I notice it's advertised as a mans jacket.

It's not the same shirt; unless I'm mistaken hers had a purple satin lining, this one does not.

That might explain the "handmade" part--a commercial buckskin jacket that she added a custom lining to.

I agree, that's a good possibility.
The only difference I noticed between the two is that one of them has an extra grommet on the yoke. BG's looks like it has 4, where the Etsy one has three, unless my eyes are deceiving me.
