Seems like she is dressed to ride a motorcycle, braids and leather skin protector. Also, wasn't there another Jane doe found with braids?

I live in AZ, Buckskins are not commonly worn. Tourists are more likely to wear them, or someone trying to be "western" or a normal person on a special occasion. I do remember my mom wearing a shirt like that to get married, about that time period. I remember thinking she was weird for wearing it and that it must be an old hippie thing. My guess is that she is much older than she looks. I've also never seen a sweater like that. That outfit could only be worn in cold weather. During the day, in any month, except rare days, I would boil in that outfit. The outfit may have been put on her to make her seem western.

I don't know where Doe net got northeast or Canada. As far as I know they have not done isotopes on her teeth or bone yet

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/133ufoh.html
I just emailed Doe Net asking where Canada came from. I gave them links to 2 articles, one on the pollen and one on the isotopes

So, way back when I contacted Doe net to find out where they got Canada from. The person that worked on Ohio had left, I reached out to another gal that is in charge of one of my MP cases there. She finally got back to me last night with the link below. I'm not sure I'm going to have time to deal with it today but will look more into it.

Search for Jane Doe’s past expands into Canada WDTN Staff Published: May 10, 2016, 6:39 pm Updated: May 10, 2016, 6:45 pm

TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – Miami County investigators have now expanded their search into the background of a woman killed in 1981 — to Canada.

Now, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office says thanks to a DNA sample of pollen on the girl’s clothes, they believe she’s from the northeast part of the country and up into Canada.

DNA taken from the inside of the jacket is leading police to believe the girl known as “Jane Doe” is from areas close to Maine, New York or Canada. DNA from the outside of her shirt suggests she also spent time on the west coast.

She could have just been pushed around and roughed up a lot and finally strangled to cause her death. The skin on the face and head is very delicate and as with skin over bony parts, will split easily. What looks like a pattern of an instrument hitting a head may not be so. Her lacerated liver could also be caused by being shoved hard against something. It reminded me of some years ago Eric Davis of the Cincinnat Reds ran hard into centerfield wall and lacerated his liver. Played a few games before it was discovered. Her clothing looks very clean for having such injuries and being roughed up. Wonder if she was dressed after being killed possibly even in someone else's clothing, then dumped. I wonder if it looked like she was placed carefully face down or just hastily dumped. I lean towards her being in an activity requiring fitness like the barrel racing for example, or somehow being involved in running drugs. She could have been a girlfriend of a distributor, etc. The Dallas Ft. Worth area has been and is a hub for many big drug operations. For her to be travelling back and forth there apparently from the northeast area of the country within a year also raises that question in my mind. It doesn't matter her occupation other than to discover who she is. The brutality committed against her and discarding of her lifeless body is horrendous no matter! It sure would be nice to see her file and autopsy notes. If LE is losing funding for cold cases it would seem sharing with public would bring more leads and possibly solving this. As they say, somebody knows something.

I believe she was found separately from her jacket - that someone saw her jacket, and then noticed the body a little ways away. Maybe her jacket was thrown out of the vehicle first, and then her body (which was found face-down).

The back of the jacket had blood on it, at the collar and upper back. The picture used to be online but isn't anymore (don't know why it was removed). I've only been able to find a very small picture.

Thanks for the pic of the back of her coat. It raises more questions for me than answers. Knowing boxing like I do, a cut to the forehead bleeds like crazy. I don't think that her wounds on her head would have left that small of an amount of blood on the coat. Also, why would it be only on the back and some at the collar?

I cannot believe it's been 36 year since she was discovered. Poor angel.

Anniversary post going up on her page later today! :rose:

What is everyones best guess on the lack of shoes? FULLY dressed, but no shoes. JUst like a corpse in a coffin was she intentionally put in her buckskin best after being killed? Cuts on the scalp and face bleed profusely, but i dont recall her buckskin jacket being soiled with blood

I just saw the post where there was blood on back of her jacket. Didn't she have head wound on back of head? She must have been wearing it then. I also thought in an interview with the guy who found her, he said he saw jacket and said he'd like to have it and when he approached he saw someone was in it! If you have on outerwear I would assume you would have footwear on as well. So I think they were removed because they could potentially identify her. Back in the day boots of all sorts were in including cowboy style or high laced up fringed Minnetonkas were popular. People also had them monogrammed which could identify owner or narrow it down. Or someone just wanted them because they were cool and popular. But no socks either. They could have pulled off with boots.

This article states she did not have the jacket for long. Wonder how they came up with that.

http://www.forensicmag.com/article/2016/05/pollen-pins-‘buck-skin’-jane-doe-northeast-35-years-later

I wonder if it's because the pollen on the outside didn't quite match the inside? Like pollen from the sweater, for example, could have transferred to the jacket? Or something like that. I'm guessing though. However, if it this statement is true, it adds to the validity of my eariler suggestion that the jacket wasn't hers, that someone could have given it to her, let her borrow it, or she stole it.
I totally missed that little factoid from the first time I read that article.

I believe earlier in the thread lack of sweat stains and wear was mentioned

This is like the third or fourth missing person that could potentially be from Maine based on the isotopes information, and yet we have so few reported missing persons here. Most of them are placed up north, near the Canadian border. I wonder if any of these are tied to the AFB. How would one go about researching missing persons that may have been reported to Military police on a now defunct base? Anyone know?

I’m thinking out loud here and keeping an open mind concerning the Buckskin Girl case.

I agree that there are two possibilities that cannot be ruled out. The first possibility is that BG may have been a domestic violence victim. The second possibility is that BG may have been a robbery victim.

Here is another possibility that I also cannot rule out.

I’m thinking that BG had been traveling in a vehicle somewhere with another person. It may have been with someone that BG knew or it may have been with a stranger that she didn’t know and had mistakenly trusted.

The person that BG was traveling with got frisky and made unwanted sexual advances towards BG. And that person got mad and became violent when BG rejected the unwanted sexual advances.

I believe that BG was murdered at a different location from where her body was found. I also believe that BG either was murdered out of state or somewhere in Ohio.

As far as BG’s occupation is concerned, I don’t think that BG ever was a big rig truck driver. I think it’s possible that BG may have rode inside the cab of a semi truck.

I believe that BG could have worked somewhere that was in a dusty environment. While it could be possible that BG may have worked in a factory or warehouse, I think she was more likely involved in some kind of an agriculture related occupation.

BG could have worked on a crop growing farm, or at a grain elevator or silo, or she could have worked with farm animals.

BG may have worked with horses at a horse ranch, or perhaps with the horse industry that involved horse racing or horse shows, or with a rodeo circuit.

There is the possibility that BG may have worked with chickens at a chicken farm or at an egg farm. Or she may have worked with cows at a dairy farm, or with cattles at a cattle ranch.

I just thought of something from the morgue photos today about the tool mark on BG’s forehead that hasn’t been considered.

Depending on which way you look at it, the tool mark on her forehead is shaped as an M or a W.

Now suppose that instead of a crow bar or a tire iron, what if the tool mark on BG’s forehead was an impression caused by a very sharp tool such as a cold branding iron?

Does anyone suppose that this could be some kind of a scarlet letter mark or an occult symbol mark or BG’s forehead?

Are you referring to the now defunct Loring AFB? Once spent some time there, years ago.

My bold
Hi Onfortuneswheel
Maybe a couple of possibilities -
she was bleeding when she was transported - if she had been sitting in a vehicle with her head back (passed out) and to one side, the blood could have trickled to the back of the garment.
She was transported lying down on her back with her her jacket up around her ears.

Makes me also think she could have been lying in the back tray of a ute/cab (I think thats they're called in the States) with a tarp covering the tray
The pollen on the jacket may have been also been in the tray of the ute.

If Canada is a consideration, my first thought is Calgary where the stampede is held every year. Lots of horse and cattle around those parts.

I just find it odd that none of the tests done on her indicated anything about animal hair, feathers etc. You would think that if that were her occupation, she'd have at least trace amounts that would have been picked up by such sensitive testing. So far, we've all been stuck on the Ag idea, but it hasn't lead anywhere. What if her clothing was just her style? Back in 1980 I remember buying a cowgirl hat for myself (which was all I could afford), as that was in fashion here in Chicago then. Granted with her ruddy complexion, she had to have spent a considerable amount of time outdoors - lending credence to the idea that she may have been a biker (which also fits with the fact that she also traveled all over the country) who simply did not wear a helmet. This is what I mean - check out the woman with the braids - and whatever jeans she's wearing are certainly not designer, as were popular at the time.

That does make sense especially about riding around without a helmet.
