Hi I am new to the forum but I have been following since I came across your board in my own investigation. I was in the middle of typing my view of the area where she was found since I visited there today but it logged me out and I lost all I typed! Today is the anniversary of her death (what is on her marker) and I just couldn't resist driving by where some terrible person thought they would just dump the poor girl. It had me practically in tears and I just said a prayer that someday someone will find her family and someday she will have a name and have justice.
Anyways my mom saw BSG on a cable show and knowing me like she does she told me to look the case up. Investigating (anything and everything) is my thing and this being a local mystery is even more intriguing.
I can give specific info on what the area looks like (roads and land layout) but I will post this post before I get kicked off the net again!

I tend to think this Jane Doe likely made the buckskin jacket herself or a close relation made it for her. I think she likely took care of herself and generally things around her. Attention to detail. I believe possibly her feet were clean bc she had been wearing boots and they were lost/removed during the transport of her body. Her hair to me reminds me of something anyone would wear who is trying to keep their hair out of their face - but imho likely household labor or riding a motorcycle.

Imho she likely was victim of domestic abuse. Imho perhaps her partner was a trucker or motorcycle rider given that she had isotopes results from all over the country. I'm not sure how many trucker's partners would be allowed to go across country with them. So it makes me lean more toward motorcycles.

She probably took very good care of the person that ended up murdering her. :(

I keep thinking of either a robbery with a struggle, or yes, a domestic argument. Someone with an explosive temper who completely lost their mind.
The post mortem side profile shot of our BSG always breaks my heart. She looks so very sad and pained. It tugs at my heart.

Just kinda' bumping this thread. Wrangler jeans weren't really popular until the movie Urban Cowboy was released (June 1980). Before that, the only people who wore Wranglers were usually from an area where folks actually worked around livestock. Most "hippie types" as some referred to earlier in this thread, would have been wearing Levi's. Many girls who followed (or were even involved in Rodeo) braided their hair. I'm really leaning toward some kind of "rodeo" association here. I'm looking at any kind of Rodeo that would be in April, cuz that's kinda early, weather-wise. So far I'm still just sleuthin' around, but thought I'd throw this out there.

Bringing this forward from 05/21/2010

Finally figured out what it was with BG that seemed vaguely familiar. With her braids and reddish hair, and her distinctive clothing, she reminds me somewhat of the children's book character Pippi Longstocking. One of the last books in the series, written by Astrid Lindgren, was published in 1979. It clicked when I read Elliha's post above.

Just bringing this post forward from 11/15/2014 from rainwater because I found it interesting given a recent discussion. (BBM for clarity)

The University of Findlay located 86 miles north of Troy has an equine program. Offers English and Western riding degree programs. Also pre-vet program. Private school. Expensive. Attracts students around the country. Excellent school. One of the few offering this degree. The females in this program were often called "the horse chicks" as I recall from the early 80's.

It is popular around here, horses and trail riding. And cowboy boots. And farming. The country cowboy scene. Greenville even has a "ride your tractor to school" day.
Even today a co worker about her age range had her hair done like BSG. Maybe in other areas not common but here with the farming and Amish/Mennonite/German Baptist braids were not abnormal.
And my cubical neighbors boyfriend was just at a rodeo last weekend. Those get pretty rough. She could have had scars or a broken tooth from that. Not sure how involved girls were in 1981. I could ask my cowgirl friends what they know of event history. It's possible she could have been in Ohio for events then went south for events.

(That's why I've been investigating the circus because of the routine travel her hair showed - fit the Barnes and Carson circus of 1981- could not find the circus posts on here that was mentioned. just iceskating sports)

ROdeo, livestock, horses. We all seem to be circling on this. And yes, "horse chicks" are fit!

If I'm not mistaken, the Annie Oakley Museum is not too far from where she was found, about 36 miles or so.
Her birthplace is 37 miles north.

My post about Annie Oakley from 09/17/2016 as posts previous to that had mentioned her jacket was similar to "Annie Oakley" Jackets.

I found the following article interesting. It has some history of one area within the isotope range. Gives a flavor of the general area but also gave me some ideas. The quote below references a few Amish communities in the area and the article talked about an OSU extension office. If this girl was involved in agriculture or animals, someone at an extension office may remember her. There are probably several extension offices in this area of Oklahoma and Texas. Might be worth circulating her picture in the Amish communities as well.

"This is a photo of a horse and enclosed buggy which I took in December 1996 at an Amish community about 5 miles north of Wapanucka, Oklahoma. Their beliefs do not allow a picture taken of them, but they did allow me to take one of their horse and buggy tied up out front of their general store. Another 5 miles north of where I took this photo is Clarita, Oklahoma, also an Amish settlement."

There was a post way back in the thread (I will see if I can find it) that mentioned that in 1981 there was a horse riding school/ranch near Greenlee road (East I think).
The person was going to make some enquiries there at the address.
Do you know of this horse riding school? Is the ranch still there do you know?

I think a robbery is quite likely too.
Sadly :(

There
was an exact Jacket on Etsy for sale with the lining in tact and the label available, so it seems unlikely it was her handmade Jacket.
This is the Etsy Jacket picture:

if she was involved with animals and horses.. wouldn't they have found animal hair on her clothing like they found pollen?

If she was involved with animals they definitely would have found some traces in this regard. As for her BS jacket, it was definitely machine-made because the technology for someone making this at home to insert the rivet holes was bad to the point of pathetic (useless) back in 1980 (even now, they aren't all that great). However, the purple liner was most likely custom... Anyway, it would be cool to know the manufacturer of the jacket, because then we might be able to go back and see exactly where they were sold. I have also been trying for 2 years to match the wound marks on her head with various tools - to the point that I got my dad involved (who was a Machinist before he retired) and a few friends of mine who own farms and work in maintenance, but we haven't come up with anything at all. I have not checked vintage kitchen tools yet, so that may be where I go next (I've checked tools, auto/truck tools, antique tools, farm implements) - anyone have any ideas on this?

I agree. If she wore that jacket while working with animals, riding horses or doing farm work involving animals, there would be traces of hair on it.
Witnesses claim she was in a bar before she died. It would be interesting to know if she were wearing it when she was inside it, or if one of the patrons gave it to her.
We don't really even know for sure if the jacket was hers. I've suspected that someone may have given to her at the bar or she stole it, maybe. I worked in a bar and both scenarios happened often. My boss even gave me a nice fringe leather jacket from the lost and found because someone stole my leather bomber jacket while I was working. Goodness knows where it was from.

Alleykins, this is the first i have heard about a witness stating she was seen in a barb bwhere did that come from? She doesnt look old enough to be in a bar, ImO. A super fit body is rarely found hanging in bars. JMO
