Here are a couple pictures of beautiful Aja showing all the love we have for her here at WS. Aja was kidnapped by the man who beat her mother to death and he beats Aja also.

Can someone explain who ohriah is? I know she is really trying hard to find aja but is she a relative or what?

Oriah is not a relative or a friend in any way at all of the family. She owns and trains what are commonly 'known' as working dogs- in particular dogs for police and sheriffs departments such as tracking, training, HRD and narcotics dogs. She has 15 years of experience with SAR dogs and handing SAR situations. She does not charge anything for services for situations like Aja's, nor does she accept donations. We pay for lodging, food, supplies, etc. The only thing we charge for is when we train and sell dogs to official K9 handlers.

I am JTSYS, and I am a retired military dog handler. Oriah and I work together and share the same philosphy of a desire to bring lost people home. We are fortunately to be able to do this at this time in our life. Does that help explain?

Thanks eyes4crime, and all who have expressed concern. The situation is basically- a dog tripped and fell climbing into some sort of crevase, dog on lead. They were hooked, but the weight of the dog (85 lbs) kocked Oriah off balance and she broke a leg in two places. They both got immediate medical attention, the dog is fine- Oriah ended up in surgery. She is doing ok, but we're waiting to see about any nerve damage as it was a compound fracture. We should be home tomorrow and she may have more to tell but I will leave it at that.

Thank you eyes. She is most pissed about having to temporarily quit the ground search for Aja. She wants a cast she can work on. They really felt they were close.
We're trying to get the rest of a crew and team leader out there.

Hey everyone- sorry I've been absent longer than planned...we had a little mishap while out, and err, well....I'm off my feet for a (very) little while. But we're working with some friends to see if they can pick up the slack while I'm down. Now I've got to go back and catch up!

Thanks everyone- keep up the hard work!!!! Aja is out there someone, and she is cold and alone. She needs to come home NOW!

Just wanted to add thanks to eveyone for their concerns about me. I am doing ok (although I will admit it hurts like h*ll) but it should heal. It was somewhat of a freak thing actually, and I am very grateful we were roped. I knew it was icy and in fact even had cleats on, but when Gracie (my dog) slipped...well lets just say it's pretty rocky and steep and down we went....so I wouldn't have gone down if we weren't roped, but then... I actually think the break kept Gracie from sliding even further which would have been very, very bad. It is, indeed, rough territory out there, but accidents happen even when you are well prepared. All she has is a nasty scrape on her head/side of her face from doing the cartwheel.
I am revising my current philosphy of "God looks out for drunks and fools" and changing it to "God looks out for drunks, fools and SAR dogs.

Again, thanks everyone for the concern. It'll heal.

My Gracie Girl, as we affectionately call her, has had lots of treats and tons of hugs. The thought of losing one of them is absolutely heartwrenching to me. Broken bones can be fixed. Spirits, not as easily. I am soooooooo glad all she has is a few lacerations.

And O/T- but for those handlers out there? thank god for safety harnesses when in trecherous terrain. She did a fantastic sumersault and when she got yanked? was like, "Whoaaa....what just happened??"
It's *almost* funny now. Maybe in another few years.
