If he regularly drove the train tracks, I find it hard to believe that he'd get his truck stuck. I can, on the other hand, see someone getting it stuck on the tracks purposely. What I'm trying to say is that someone staged that truck. (IMO)
I agree, alexwood. I don't think Bruce would have walked away from a working vehicle to escape his life. There's something that doesn't sit right with me on his case.

There's absolutely no info yet on human remains found 1/2 hr away in OK City. They were found on a vacant lot. LE believes they've been there "a long time".

These remains were identified as 19-year-old Jaedyn Hamilton. Still no updates for Bruce. :(

Jacobs’s sister, R. D.F., spoke to KFOR from Mississippi.
“He supposedly left at 8:30 that morning going to breakfast, according to the girlfriend. She was the last person that saw him that day, and no one saw him prior to that,” she said “It was a very small timeline. She claims he left at 8:30 a.m. and the truck was found at 10 a.m.”

“As of right now, it is still an active, open investigation. Unfortunately, we have not received any leads, any promising leads to put us in the right direction,” Emily Ward with Edmond Police said.

Hey there, YaYa. Sorry for this slew of questions, but what the heck happened here? o_O

1) Bruce was last seen by girlfriend. He was last seen at Arcadia Lake. Were they staying at the lake together or had she just stopped by that morning? Who knew she was there? Did they live together?

2) They had an argument. (story change or addition) When, where, and what about? Was Bruce at the lake because of the argument or did the argument take place at the lake?

3) Bruce left girlfriend and the camper 1) to go get breakfast or 2) to go get drugs or 3) to go get both or 4) for reasons unknown. Does Bruce have a history of drug use? What kind of drugs is the girlfriend referring to?

4) An hour and 1/2 later his truck was found in Choctaw. Do we know for a fact that he drove his truck to Choctaw? ie: Has LE confirmed or have there been any reports of forensic testing on the truck?

5) Did LE ping his phone? Was his phone found? If so, where?

6) What about his keys? Were they in the truck? Was the truck locked or unlocked? Footprints near the truck?

7) Who was the initial source of information provided to SAR that he commonly went (I assume "drove") down the RR tracks? Sister? Girlfriend?

8) How did his truck get stuck? Oklahoma soil is red clay (or technically port, I believe) and the temps had been in the 80's and 90's for weeks with the most recent precipitation (light rain) back on June 4. Weather in June 2020 in Choctaw, Oklahoma, USA (timeanddate.com) IOW, it was not muddy.

I don't believe he got lost in the woods. His truck was 1/4 mile down the tracks off of Indian Meridian. Somewhere right in here: 35°29'54.1"N 97°14'36.1"W - Google Maps Why wouldn't he just back up the way he came? And, if he was stuck, why take off into the woods? What in the world would he be doing in this area to begin with?

I am not throwing shade at the girlfriend and we can't sleuth her but sum ting wong... When did she report him missing? Were they in an exclusive relationship? (My reason for asking who else knew she was there.) MOO

Hi! I'm curious have any these questions been answered.

Hi! I'm curious have any these questions been answered.

The only info we really have is what’s been shared through msm and LE.
Bruce and his gf got into an argument that morning at the lake where his camper was located (according to gf) and Bruce left to either go eat breakfast, buy drugs, or both (again both have been shared in msm).
I haven’t read anywhere that states Bruce had a history of drug use but for someone close to him to just come out and say he may have left to get drugs, I’d assume there’s history of use there (JMO).
SAR shared that Bruce often travelled down the railroad tracks, but again I’m not sure who provided that info to them.
SAR seemed to believe his truck got stuck and he left it there to get help.
My question would be could LE tell it was stuck or was this assumed? As asked earlier, were his keys left in the truck?
It seems SAR has done a thorough search of the area around where his truck was found.
There just seems to be a lot more questions than answers in Bruce’s case. I hope there are answers for his family soon.

I don't know the answer to whether they were staying at the lake together for any length of time or if she was visiting, but on 20 May Bruce posted a pic on his FB page showing his "Back yard view with [gf/name removed]. We can conclude she was there on 20 May and 16 June.

2) They had an argument. (story change or addition) When, where, and what about? Was Bruce at the lake because of the argument or did the argument take place at the lake?

No answers available. GF either hasn't said, LE hasn't released, or MSM hasn't reported. All we know is she admitted they had argued.

3) Bruce left girlfriend and the camper 1) to go get breakfast or 2) to go get drugs or 3) to go get both or 4) for reasons unknown. Does Bruce have a history of drug use? What kind of drugs is the girlfriend referring to?

There's no reference to drugs other than what's been reported which is what gf said. However, it appears from his photos and FB posts that Bruce worked as a heavy equipment operator. Most often those types of jobs require drug tests. Seems rather unusual that Bruce wouldn't have been required to get a drug test for that job. IMO, he also would have been concerned with random drug testing.

4) An hour and 1/2 later his truck was found in Choctaw. Do we know for a fact that he drove his truck to Choctaw? ie: Has LE confirmed or have there been any reports of forensic testing on the truck?

Either LE is not investigating or they've been very tight-lipped about their investigative findings. I tend to believe they have info they're sitting on. As such, no information has been released regarding how Bruce's truck ended up stuck on RR tracks.

5) Did LE ping his phone? Was his phone found? If so, where?

No mention of a phone that I can find.

6) What about his keys? Were they in the truck? Was the truck locked or unlocked? Footprints near the truck?

Again, no mention of keys or whether the truck was locked or unlocked. I saw pics that could provide answers about footprints and other things found, but TOS.

7) Who was the initial source of information provided to SAR that he commonly went (I assume "drove") down the RR tracks? Sister? Girlfriend?

Unknown. I've only read the SAR guy mention Bruce's supposed history of traveling down RR tracks.

The video on this page shows a pic of Bruce's truck on the RR tracks. It does not appear the truck was stuck in mud. Again, pics/posts I've seen do not suggest the weather had anything to do with the truck getting stuck, but TOS prohibits me from describing why it was stuck.
Edmond Police Searching For Man Missing For Nearly A Month

I don't believe he got lost in the woods. His truck was 1/4 mile down the tracks off of Indian Meridian. Somewhere right in here: 35°29'54.1"N 97°14'36.1"W - Google Maps Why wouldn't he just back up the way he came? And, if he was stuck, why take off into the woods? What in the world would he be doing in this area to begin with?

The only answer available to any of these questions is that he couldn't back up the way he came b/c the truck was stuck.

I am not throwing shade at the girlfriend and we can't sleuth her but sum ting wong... When did she report him missing? Were they in an exclusive relationship? (My reason for asking who else knew she was there.) MOO

GF reported him missing on June 16. The first page of the MP report is shown in the video linked above. ITA, sum ting wong, but I dunno what that sum ting is. I know this... I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs with all info I had if this was my bf, especially if I used my FB as frequently as some gfs use theirs.

Thank goodness Bruce's family members (esp. his sister) are not letting LE forget about Bruce's case.

Hi back, and welcome to Websleuths! :) See the next couple of posts for answers by two members who have followed Bruce's case since the thread was created. I am just now getting up to speed here but will be following.

Thank you @mlhenn and @YaYa_521 for helping me fill in the blanks.

The missing person's report is shown (briefly) in the video at this link - see :47 mark - and provides answers to a few questions.

Edmond Police Searching For Man Missing For Nearly A Month (news9.com)
  1. Bruce's gf reported him missing on 6/24/20 at about 1030 hours via phone.
  2. He was last seen at Scissortail Park #436 in Edmond on 6/16/20 at about 0815 hours.
  3. She explained that he is a drug user and has been known to fall off the wagon, but he was never gone this long without contact.
  4. She said that on the day she last saw him, they had been arguing on the phone about a pipe under his mattress.
  5. She said that he is also on probation in Texas and is supposed to contact his Probation Officer by phone each Tuesday and he has not done so.
  6. She tried logging in to his Apple account to track his iphone but the password had been changed.
  7. LE tried calling his phone but it went straight to voicemail.
  8. Dispatch attempted to do a ping with Verizon on Bruce's cellphone. They would not do a ping without an Affidavit saying he was in immediate Danger.
* Note: The above is neither verbatim or a complete summary. For instance, the gf describes Bruce's truck, that it was found in Choctaw on the RR tracks, etc. See photo below for screen grab of the report seen in the video.

Thank you, @Yaya, for pointing me toward this link. :)

GF reported Bruce missing to LE by phone. Did she immediately contact his family/friends/employer/associates to let them know he was missing with hopes that they'd have answers as to his whereabouts? Has she ever had a formal, in-person interview with LE? I don't know about her, but if it were me missing my significant other, I'd beg them to ask me (in the presence of my attny and hooked up to a lie detector) any and everything in hopes that some nugget of info would help find him. AAMOF, I'd encourage all of my and Bruce's friends, family, co-workers, associates, neighbors, etc. to do the same. I'd provide the coffee & donuts as well as the pizza & pie! We'd find him or we'd spend every spare moment looking for him. :D

Here are just a few questions I'd want answered if I were investigating Bruce's case. (Yes, in my world this is just a few:p). I personally don't need these answers but it seems LE and Bruce's family should have them.:)
  1. What does gf think happened to Bruce?
  2. Why did she wait 8 days before reporting him missing?
  3. Was gf living at the camp? If so, how long did she live in the camper after Bruce was last seen? When is the last time she was at the camp?
  4. Who else was at the camper or had visited the camper from the 16th until he was reported missing on the 24th?
  5. Where is the camper now? When and how did it get there?
  6. Did anyone ever search the Scissortail Park property? Who? When? How?
  7. Has LE searched his camper? Camp site? Work sites? Arcadia Lake & surrounding area? Route to Choctaw?
  8. Did GF and/or any of her associates search any place besides the reported RR search? If so, where/when/who/how often?
  9. When was the last time Bruce "fell off the wagon"?
  10. What's the longest he's ever stayed off the wagon?
  11. Did Bruce ever explain/provide answers concerning his whereabouts during his previous escapades?
  12. Has the pipe that was supposedly found under his mattress been located? If so, when, where, and by whom? If found, was it dusted for prints? If so, whose prints were on the pipe?
  13. What led up to the argument about the pipe under the mattress? Did she find the pipe then confront Bruce? If not, who found the pipe? Was Bruce there when the pipe was found? When (what day and time) did this happen?
  14. Did she leave the camper after the pipe discovery then talk to him by phone? Did he leave the camper then talk to her by phone?
  15. What do his employer/co-workers have to say? Have they seen or heard from him? When? Did they help search anywhere?
  16. Has the job site(s), most especially any areas with newly buried pipe, been searched? Has any of the equipment been inspected for evidence?
  17. Did Bruce have any enemies or nemeses?
  18. Was Bruce a supervisor? Any jealous or angry subordinates/co-workers? Who got promoted/hired to take Bruce's job after he disappeared? Does this person know Bruce?
  19. Have gf and Bruce's phone records been checked?
  20. There is a guard shack at the entrance to the campground. Is a guard stationed there 24hrs/day? Are there security cameras at the entrance or anywhere else on the property?
  21. Have park employees been interviewed about when they last saw Bruce leave Scissortail Park?
  22. Was he alone in his truck when he exited the park?
  23. Any other visitors/guests pay the fee then check-in around the same time? Anyone check-out of the park around that time frame?
  24. When is the last time he checked in with his probation officer? What did his check-ins usually involve? Was Bruce on probation during times when he had previously fallen off the wagon? If so, did he check in with PO then?
  25. Did Bruce have his phone the last time gf saw him? When is the last time she saw the phone being charged?
  26. How often did Bruce walk/ride along RR tracks? What purpose would he have for being on RR tracks? Had he ever been to that specific area before?
  27. When is the last time, if ever, Bruce had any type of drug test performed? Did his employer or probation officer require drug testing?
  28. Why was Bruce on probation? Does he have any other offenses on his record? Other than the potential fall of the wagon, was there sufficient reason he may have voluntarily disappeared?
  29. Did Bruce have any money? When was the last time he was paid? Has LE accessed his financial accounts?
  30. Were Bruce's bills paid timely and up to date? Did Bruce owe money to anyone? Anyone owe Bruce? Same ?s for gf.
  31. Were any of his/gf's belongings damaged or valuables missing?
  32. Did Bruce or gf have any friends who visited w/them? When was the last time they had any contact w/others? Do any of their friends have any sort of sketchy past? What about co-workers/employers?
  33. Does Bruce or gf have any family in that area? Have they been interviewed? Any of them have problems with Bruce?
  34. How long were Bruce and gf a couple? Had they ever dated before?
  35. Any of Bruce's or gf's associates or exes have an axe to grind w/ either of them, a jealous streak or drug habit, etc.
  36. ETA - Does GF have a criminal record?

So, from what I gather, all we have is what the GF says, there's no independent confirmation. We don't even know if was really there that morning at 8:30, we don't know that he was the one driving the truck, we don't know that he was really doing drugs, everything is just her word?

  • #36
I'm from Kansas, and when I think of drugs in Oklahoma, I think of meth. I think he was under the influence and, feeling paranoid, took off on foot after he got stuck. Then he succumbed to the elements.

We don't know but LE will be able to corroborate much of that information, for example, whether or not he is on probation in Texas. The MP report seems to include the name and phone number of the probation officer but it is obscured in my screenshot. I wouldn't post her name or phone number anyway - even if I could read it - but all I can make out is: The probation Officer in Texas is [???] and her Number is [???]. MOO

Link posted upthread by @mlhenn:
Volunteers search for Edmond man missing since June | KFOR.com Oklahoma City

The video gives somewhat of an answer to my question #10 above:
What's the longest he's ever stayed off the wagon?

[Reporter] "It was normal for Jacobs to not be heard from for a few days, but this is way past that."

[Brian Smith, State Coordinator for OKCM Search & Rescue] "And we are at 5 weeks now. We're so far beyond his normal that there is cause for concern."

Right! However, LE may have answers that haven't been released to the public. Let's hope they do.

Sorry, but I'm suspicious of the gf. Not saying she hurt him, but I think she knows more than she's saying. And if its drugs, its more likely he ODd than walked around and succumbed to the elements.
