According to a Lawton Police Department report, a man who has been missing since June 15th was reportedly brutally beaten the day after he was last seen.

21-year-old Byard Moore went missing back in June and his family says they have been worried sick and looking for him everywhere since then.

Both the Lawton Police Department and Comanche County Sheriff's Department were unable to comment on the case because it's an ongoing investigation, but a police report filed at LPD tells a violent story of what happened to Moore before he disappeared.

According the police report, several men assaulted Moore with metal pipes at a home on Northwest Kinyon. That happened on June 16th, the day after police previously reported he was last seen at the Stripes near Sheridan and Lincoln. One person was arrested in connection with the assault and was interviewed by authorities on Wednesday. Moore’s sister Susan Browning said they have spent countless hours trying to find him since he went missing.

"I've been up out of the house on the streets literally everywhere I can trying to find him, in neighborhoods I shouldn't be. My husband doesn't like that, my family doesn't like that but it's my brother. We've got to find him,” Browning said. Browning said in recent years, Moore had gone down the wrong road but they were working on getting him healthy.

"We were trying to get him some help and at one time I had him in my van, ready to go and sometimes I blame myself for that. I should have just took him with me but he was about family. He didn't have nobody there to watch his daughter. If I could rewind that day," Browning said.

Officials are being very tight lipped with what information they are releasing about the investigation but we do know both the Lawton Police Department and the Comanche County Sheriff’s Department are involved. Anyone with any information regarding Moore’s whereabouts are encouraged to call law enforcement.

Oh my goodness! Not judging the sister but, If he was willing to go get help, why not take away his excuse and volunteer to take the daughter until he completed his help program? Maybe, financial reasons but she would or should have been able to receive benefits for the daughter. Just curious. My heart breaks for her, as she seems like the only one brave enough to search for him.

Did any notice the discrepancy between the title and the first sentence? Title: REPORT: Missing man beaten with metal pipe prior to disappearance
First sentence: " . . . was reportedly brutally beaten the day after he was last seen."

When I first read the article, I thought, "How can someone be beaten without being seen?" I hope they edit the story to change the "after" to "before." I hope LE is working on the case, and investigating the person(s) who did the beating.

UPDATE: Body found in Western Comanche County, officials say could be missing man

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The Comanche County Sheriff says they have found a body on private property West of Lawton that could potentially belong to Byard "Dakota" Moore, a man missing since June.

[...]

"Our two detectives started working together and putting together what each other had and then started doing interviews together, people we would talk to, brought in. We worked together and built this case. Then we got word that possibly the body was out west, that's when we started looking into it. We got a pinpoint of where we thought it was going to be and that's when we got a search warrant for that land and went out there,” Stradley said.

But Sheriff Stradley said because of the body's condition, they were unable to make a positive identification. So, they have sent the body to the medical examiner's office to confirm whether or not it is actually Moore's body.

Regardless of whose body it is, Sheriff Stradley said this is a tough situation.

"Nobody wins. It's a lose deal, somebody lost their life, somebody else is in trouble. The only things that might be a little bit of peace here is if it is him it gives us a little bit of closure. There will never closure but a little bit of closure of wondering where he's at, what's going on. But I cannot say that it is him at this time,” Stradley said.

What a mess. I wonder if the molestation story is true, or a cover for drug-related violence. I feel for Byard's sister.

Two more suspects have been charged in the June death of Byard Moore in northwest Lawton.

Dusty Abel, 18, and Cory Hood, 36, have both been charged with felony crimes connected to the murder and moving of Moore’s body from a home on Kinyon Avenue in Lawton.

According to court papers, Abel was charged with First Degree Murder after police say he told them during an interview that he had tied womens hair bands around the neck of Moore after Adrian Stallworth placed a plastic bag on his head. Abel told police he left the home after he allegedly performed the act.

Hood has been charged with four felony counts including Accessory to Murder in the First Degree, Unlawful removal of a Dead Body, Desecration of a Human Corpse and Conspiract to Commit Unlawful Removal of a Dead Body and Desecration of a Human Corpse. Court documents say Hood was the owner of the land where Moore’s body was located earlier this month on Coombs Road between Cache and Indiahoma. Documents say Ryan Jones and Cody Bates told authorities that Hood was aware they were bringing a body to his land to be left there.

They also told police Hood participated in the burning and burying of Moore’s body.

Police say they also located a stolen tractor on Hood’s land which he had previously lied to law enforcement about and attempted to conceal.

Hood’s bond has been set at $150,000. Abel’s bond was set at $1 million.

Both are set to make their next court appearance in September.

I also wonder if there is any validity to the molestation accusation. The murder seemed rather brutal.... and very personal.
