I keep seeing the statement that ISIS has beheaded children, but the only media reports of that that I've found have been The Inquistr. Any legitimate news agency reporting that?

http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2014/august/isis-swallowing-iraq-theyre-beheading-children-/

EDITOR'S NOTE: Claims that ISIS has been beheading children has been largely reported in mainstream and social media. But upon further investigation, CBN News has been unable to confirm the veracity of this specific claim. We have confirmed that children are being brutally killed and the situation for Christains and other non-Muslim groups remain dire.

ERBIL, Kurdistan -- Islamic terrorists in Iraq are killing children and burying people alive, and it won't stop there. They have a message for America: "We're coming for you."

Over the past week, the army of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), also known as IS (Islamic State), swallowed up swaths of Iraq like a pervading darkness.
=========================================================================

oh sorry, not beheading innocent children, just slaughtering them. My bad.

apparently snopes cannot verify or deny the rumors. But snopes does have a picture of a beheaded 6 yr old girl on the site.

perhaps they feel they have to because of what's happening with Westerners being converted to radicalism ... I would want to research further before judging

Mohammed says Nolen attended services where sermons were delivered against beheadings like those committed by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, militants.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/alton-nolen-oklahoma-beheading-suspect-described-as-a-little-odd/

IDK Maybe it's just me but honestly what church (insert any religion) has to talk or teach it's parishioners not to behead, seriously this is what they gather to teach? I don't need anyone to tell me what they are about, they speak for themselves. Sometimes they should shut up. Saying that we deliver sermons against beheadings, sure right. jmo idk

This is what I was trying to say without coffee...thanks. It may be surrounded by the word and conversion of religion...but...there is so much more here. Just didn't think it was fair to bash religion because if this. Plus, I woke up cranky!

I wish I could articulate this as well as you just did. This is what I mean. I don't think it was his conversion to (radical)Islam that made him a murderer. I think the seed was there, waiting to sprout. His new found "religion" provided the water. If it wasn't for Jihad this time, it would have been for some other reason another time. And it could have been worse. I imagine beheading folks is a slightly less efficient process than bombing or shooting semi-automatic weapons.

Sure, but I would guess there's a difference between watching (passive) and performing (active) a beheading. But you're right, that's one possibility, which would explain where he got the knowledge from.

What knowledge is needed? I have not watched but have read acounts of the beheading videos (they are out there). No technique is necessary. They just take a knife and slowly saw the man's head off. WARNING, EXTREMELY GRAPHIC ALERT:

People almost universally state they wish they had not watched those videos. The noises, they say are the worst. First the screaming, crying, begging, then gurgling, struggling, gasping noises. It is insane but no "training" is necessary to use a knife on someone. Like I said, Jori Lirette's dad cut his head off while he was alive. So did that crazy guy in Canada on a Greyhound bus - he just pounced on a fellow passenger with a knife and sawed the head off. He then held the head while people went nuts and freaked, until the bus stopped and the police could detain him. There was no training involved:
According to witnesses, McLean was sleeping with his headphones on when the man sitting next to him suddenly produced a large knife and began stabbing McLean in the neck and chest. The attacker then decapitated McLean and displayed his severed head to other passengers outside who had fled the bus in horror. The driver and two other men had attempted to rescue McLean but were chased away by Li, who slashed wildly at them from behind the locked bus doors. Li then went back to the body and began severing other body parts and consuming some of McLean's flesh.

At 8:30 p.m., the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Portage la Prairie received a report of a stabbing on a Greyhound bus west of the city. They arrived to find the suspect still on board the bus, being prevented from escaping by another passenger, the bus driver, and a truck driver who had provided a crowbar and a hammer as weapons. The other passengers were huddled at the roadside, some of them crying and vomiting. As the suspect had earlier attempted to escape by driving the bus away, the driver had engaged the emergency immobilizer system, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Witnesses had observed the suspect stabbing and cutting McLean's body, and carrying McLean's severed head. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Tim_McLean

You either have to be insane, or a barbarian or both to do such a thing to another human. I agree though that too many are doing this and advocating it for them all to be insane. This is pure evil. Just evil. And it should scare every one of us.

don't bring a knife to a gun fight is all I can say -- be aware & be prepared NOT like Colleen Hufford & Traci Johnson

thank you Officer Mark Vaughan

Yes but usually something like this happens without warning. They are attacking people just going about their daily lives. How do you use a gun to stop a co-worker who just attacked you from behind, at work? The only thing that can happen is that a gun can mitigate the damage if in the hands of a bystander who has time to use it.

I don't need to research, I've been paying attention since sept 11, 2001.

Unfortunately, I think there are many, many people who think that the dangers are only ‘over there’. Our whole country has been put on high terror alert, and sweeping new counter-terrorism laws were introduced over the past couple of weeks … including no travel to certain regions of the world without specific and valid reasons, and the relevant govt permission.

And if any of our people go to fight or learn with the radical Islamists, they are not (legally) coming back into this country.

http://www.ag.gov.au/NationalSecuri...cuments/Australias counter terrorism laws.pdf

(This is, no doubt, due to the fact that we have now committed to air strikes on strongholds in Iraq and Syria, as well as the lone wolf terror plans that have been discovered and stopped here ... and who knows what else.)

Good for Australia. They have their heads on straight, btw does Australia allow peoples from other countries to come in and take part in the benefits programs set up for the legal citizens. Just curious jmo idk

Sorry, didn't mean it to come off as snarky. Just saying that I don't see a big difference between a 6 yr old being slaughtered and/or being be-headed. Not sure what the difference really is.

I just cannot see how this guy can be labeled 'mentally ill' for these actions when 40, 000 ISIS fighters are exhibiting the very same symptoms.

I've not looked online & don't plan to but have little or no doubt that How-to-Behead online tutorials are available.
A D or F student's initial throat-slitting motion could/would cause exsanguination, even if victim is not beheaded.

 They have discovered that he watched relevant videos some time before the murder.

"The law enforcement official who spoke to CNN on Monday said Nolen had watched beheading videos .....

Nolen allegedly told investigators that he felt oppressed at work -- particularly over not getting a raise, a law enforcement official told CNN on Monday.

Whatever the motivation, the violent image was at odds with the one offered by those who said they were his sister, mother and friends -- none of whom said violence was part of his personality.

Nolen's problems at work including getting in trouble for his performance and for trying to convert co-workers to Islam, the second official said.

While it's unclear when Nolen himself converted, his Facebook page abruptly changed from posts featuring song lyrics, talk about football and other topics to posts almost exclusively related to Islam in April 2013 -- shortly after he was released from prison."

Did we have this one yet? Anyway, here it is (again, perhaps) -- Sunday Oklahoman....

Oklahoma beheading: Suspect's friend shocked at accusations

---
A longtime friend, Ricky Kennybrew, 27, of Idabel, said Nolen was the type of a guy who would not harm anyone except to defend himself or his family.

“It hurts me,” Kennybrew said of the accusations. “I cannot see him doing anything like that unless there was more to it.”
---
“He was converting over to become a Muslim. For him to be converting over to that, that is a very new thing because we grew up as Christians. We went to church ... and we lived the right way, by the Bible,” Kennybrew said.

“I was very surprised about it. All of us were, including his family,” he said of the conversion.

In the video at this link, a member of the mosque that Nolen attended says that you could tell that he was different from everyone else, but as far as violence, they never saw it coming.

The state trooper that he got into a scuffle with previously says that if there was any way to know that he would do the things that he was alleged to have done, she would have killed him when she had the opportunity.

The trooper, Betsy Randolph, told CNN on Saturday that Nolen started struggling after she put a handcuff on one wrist. Nolen ran and was arrested after a 12-hour manhunt.
"He kept looking over his shoulder because he knew I wanted to shoot him, but obviously I couldn't shoot him in the back," Randolph told CNN. "If there had been any way to know the things he is alleged to have done a few days ago, I would have killed him when I had a chance."

A spokesman for Gov. Mary Fallin, Alex Weintz, noted the governor had blocked Nolen from receiving parole in 2012.
Weintz said Saturday: "The suspect came up for parole in 2012 and the governor denied his parole. She reviewed his file and didn't think that he was a good candidate for early parole."

Oklahoma House caucus claims Moore beheading was terrorism, not workplace violence (Daily Oklahoman)

• Citing Thursday’s beheading of a Vaughan Foods worker in Moore, eight Oklahoma state representatives issued a joint statement Monday calling for a “public discussion about potential terrorists in our midst and the role that Sharia law plays in their actions.”

---
“The Feds say this is workplace violence, but people know that’s not true,” the eight House members said of Thursday’s incident in which Alton Nolen, 30, is suspected of beheading Vaughan Foods employee Colleen Hufford, 54, shortly after Nolen was fired.

“Unfortunately, jihadism is no longer confined to foreign soil. We must be alert to it here and take steps to counter the doctrine, institutions and organizations that foster it.”

The statement was issued by a group of state House members who identified themselves as the Counterterrorism Caucus.

(Clears throat.) Whatever. It's a "public discussion" to endorse xenophobia and racism, methinks. "The Feds" indeed.
