When they talk on the FindDarynRayCollie facebook page about the suit in the car, do they mean his fursuit?

ETA: gotta go now, keep digging y'all! We may be onto sth!

Very interesting question! Because some posts were questioning if "the suit" was his "only" "wedding suit," i.e. only dress suit that he wore to his dad's recent wedding. So they may be wanting clarification as to whether the suit in the car was his cat suit or a business suit? Very interesting question indeed.

Status update as to what is being done in OR:

Trails and area where vehicle was found searched last night and today: Daryn not found. Air searches tomorrow if weather permits.

Phone call/signal history forwarded to Sheriff for his review.

Local media alerted to run Daryn's story...media will report.

Things are finally moving!!!

My tee, that is good to hear!

bbm

I swear, when I read this, I thought, 'I know about Trekkies, Wiccans, and Furries. But what are Filpdogs???'

She misspelled it, it's Flipdogs. There is an fb link, something to do with dogs catching frisbees and doing other stunts.

ETA: hospitals and morgues in the area where his car was found should be contacted. Maybe a Joe Doe was brought in. (hopefully not!)

Have we had this one yet? From a furry site (Flayrah)

Missing fur: Darraby
---
It is believed Darraby knows furs in Oregon and Washington, so please share this information, in the hope that someone can provide more information.

Hadn't seen that one, wfgodot. (I see they have a bit wrong, though. Daryn did not just pick someone up from the airport; he flew in as well).

Daryn's step-mom has noted that he is not the hiking/camping/rock climbing type. She has also noted that he has been known to pull over when tired to keep from driving while sleepy.

If Daryn wound up in OR of his own accord: I wonder if Daryn carried a gas can and would have tried to walk to get gas? I wish we had photos of the area where the car was found.

Speaking of photos: I'm still not seeing any MSM as to the car being found. Anyone else?

With Daryn not being the the hiking/camping/rock climbing guy, was it out of character for him to have a sleeping bag? Is it possible the sleeping bag found in the vehicle could have been someone else's? Maybe he picked up a hitch hiker?
Also, since the brother had a back pack, could the sleeping bag actually belong to his brother? Or is the back pack totally unrelated to the sleeping bag?

I am also wondering about the sleeping bag. If he wasn't a camping kind of guy, was it his? Another thought, my son still has one in his truck that he carried this past winter. We had a lot of snow and ice, and cars were often stranded on the roads.

Great points about that sleeping bag! Yes, it could be leftover emergency weather equipment; it could also belong to someone else such as a hitchhiker who needed to leave the vehicle in a hurry.

DS and I had a conversation about the suit last night. I said that just because no one remembers Daryn having it on the NY trip doesn't mean it wasn't with him. He could have taken it along to wear for the graduation, seen that other family members were "dressing down" for the event, and chose not to wear it. If he just had it draped over his arm while moving his belongings, no one would necessarily pay attention. And his brother may have been too busy getting his own things back in the car to notice Daryn hanging up a suit in the back once they were preparing to leave the airport in Daryn's vehicle.

To give an example of this point, I noted that I have been in and out of DS' vehicle several times in the past week. He has a number of items in there associated with this trip. Of all those items, if pressed I could probably name off four. I guarantee you there are rather large items not normally carried in a vehicle that I have looked at a dozen times this week...but their existence in the vehicle has not "registered" with me because I've had no need to acknowledge their existence.

I think this is a good example of why we sometimes get conflicting accounts/descriptions/information when a case is fresh....people simply do not know that they are going to need to "know" something in the future. Can "you" describe what "your" spouse had on the day before yesterday after work? Did your friend pay for his lunch with cash or a debit card yesterday? We are often busy with our own doings and simply miss minor (but later perhaps very important) details. I also think this is why it is so very important to have forums like this...so many eyes can "see" the situation and bring out the little details.

Great minds working here! Ya'll never cease to amaze me with your sleuthing talents.

Missing for almost two weeks and there's yet to be an MSM link. I find this odd. Maybe today.

Re photos of where the car was found - have your tried Google maps/satelite images? I'm happy to have a look later on, no time right now though. What's the best description we have of the spot where it was found?

"A roadside near a trail in Hood River County, Oregon which is near Mt. Hood, one of the tallest peaks in the area." Funny, but I have the perfect mental picture of the car at this place. Wish I could project it onto this thread! If I see where a better description is being provided, I'll pass it on.

I confess that I get myself bassackwards when using Google satellite or Google Earth. So by all means, when you have the time to explore the area using those tools, please do! :)

Thanks my tee. Unfortunately Hood River County is quite large, my guess is about 500 sq miles? So without more detailed info it's impossible to say what kind of terrain he might have encountered when he left the car. The area is very green and mountaneous, lots of forests, trails, roads, fields, and sparsely populated. If his car ran out of gas in the middle of a heavily forested area, and he isn't an experienced hiker, it could be quite a dangerous situation for him to be in. He might simply have gotten lost. Temperatures range from 50 to 80 F, no rain, so that's not too bad.

Can you call your niece and get more details?

Here's the area, zoom in to see the terrain in more detail:

I'll see if the family can narrow down the area where the car was found, sure!

I have forwarded a list of questions to the family. I am not sure when they will get back to me, as hopefully they are involved with OR LE and trying to get OR MSM to pick up the story at the moment. As soon as I have answers to some of our questions, I will pass them on. Keep the questions coming in the meantime, though. Ya'll have come up with some good questions that could lead to clues as to just what is going on in this case. Ya'll are awesome to the nth degree!

Generally, in this neck of the woods when a car is stolen or jacked, it's located somewhere out of gas. The 'I want to get home to rest up for work tomorrow" sounds so logical and typical after a trip,it's hard to believe that wasn't true. So is it possible that a "furry" (so not familiar with them) or someone similar from Oregon/Washington was in Oklahoma, somehow hooked up and asked for a ride somewhere....than somehow forced the drive to the west coast. That's a long, long way for a carjacking and would have involved fueling up somewhere along the route.

True enough, and hopefully some gas stations along the way have video of the vehicle and its occupants. But there are so many gas stations along the way. Sigh.

Can someone sum up what we know about cell phone pings and credit card use?

I would like to make a map with pings, credit card use, his home, and location of the car.

ETA: does Daryn have a fb account?

Hood River County is bordered on the north by the huge Columbia River.
This is looking toward the west at the town of Hood River.
