I guess I kind of had tunnel vision just a tad, just never even thought of that angle. May I ask, what part would the suit being in his back seat play into this? That is where you lost me...(I can be really slow...lol)...ty

I also wonder what was found in the suitcase...important papers? Treasured possessions to be given to family members per instructions?

If I had a client come into my office and say, "mytee...my child is missing and has done this and this, their car was found and these items were in it," I'd be alerting the authorities. I'm a mandated reporter. I would have to report this.

Sometimes you've just got to step back from the mire and mud to see the clear water. Steady did that. She made me see where this scenario is highly possible. LE does not need to wait and study that computer "if and when" Daryn is found under dire circumstances. They need to study it now because it might lead them to him.

Do we know if LE is even looking at his laptop? Has there been an investigator assigned to the case?

I am just kind of jumping here. I was reading back in the beginning of the thread and I believe it said that his vehicle was found at Fort Hood? Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that where Whitney Heichel's body was found? That just kind of stuck out to me and I may be wrong about Daryn's car being found there. Is this ringing bells with anyone else? Like I said I am just kind of reading at the beginning of this. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong! Just my 2 coppers :)

Late to the dance on this one but...do you mean Mt. Hood?

Does Daryn like History?
Here is an interesting article about the Oregon Trail and the fur trappers during that era.

http://web.oregon.com/history/oregon_trail_end.cfm

"The first nonnative settlers in the Northwest, however, were not Americans but (mostly French) Canadians and part-Indian families, the Metis. The story of these former employees of the British fur companies who began farms in the early 1820s form yet another thread in the making of Oregon. As the fur trade ended, Americans with Indian wives joined the early settlements. Their way of survival and much of their culture was adopted from Native Americans; their common language was Chinook Jargon."

"Former fur-trappers greeted and helped to establish Protestant American missionaries in the Oregon country. The missionaries found little success among the dying Indian population but were instrumental in encouraging and supporting emigration from the United States. Mission leaders and institutions became the core of early American government and settlement. The story of the Oregon missionaries ushers in the era of the great migration along the Oregon Trail."

"About FB...
We can link to facebook as long as its a FB devoted to finding Daryn and there seems to be family involved. No discussion of what's on FB is allowed here. You can however link to the FB page and say check out the comment at 9:30 Saturday night, but that's all. Any questions, just let me know
:-)"

More specifics can be found within the link. :)

But, if this was his final wish, why remove yourself from the vehicle to do so? Without wanting to be crude, if that was his intention, he could have ended it in that car quite easily. Or at least just outside of it.

JMO. Totally agree with you about the laptop. That, and wherever little Gypsy is, are the keys here IMO...possibly dependant on whatever scenario is going on.

If someone just wanted to die in their vehicle, they could do it in their driveway. The draw of this setting, IMO, would be to be peering out over a breathtakingly beautiful landscape.

Agreed -there would be no point in cleaning the car, emptying the gas tank, and parking it in a hidden location if the intent was to commit suicide.

Also, this doesn't explain missing Gypsy - unless there is a remote possibility that he harmed Gypsy. There are some people who kill themselves and murder their children prior to doing so. I don't understand why but it happens.

I wonder if there's a chance that he met someone online and instead of being honest, he left to meet them and is now living a double life on cloud 9. I know that seems incredibly immature and irresponsible but I do believe it happens. (I think the odds of this are slim to almost none but nevertheless, it's a scenario.)

For reference purposes, please see SHC* 6/7 10:51 p.m. post (and others) regarding Mt Hood search efforts:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/FindDaryn/?fref=ts

Question: If LE were sure a fully competent adult male had willingly left his car at the trail head and freely gone elsewhere without coming to some kind of harm near the mountain, why would they do a diligent search of the area?

Near Mount Hood, Oregon...
Fort Hood is in Texas. :)
I bet you meant to say Mount Hood since you mentioned Whitney Heichel.

You are absolutely right! Thank you. I had a feeling I was mixing something up! Thanks Treelights

Yes, I can understand where you are coming from.
I just wonder why Oregon?
There are closer states, like Colorado, for example, that have beautiful mountains, too.
I wonder if Daryn always wanted to go to Oregon. Maybe that was on his bucket list, and maybe his list was full now.

I also understand and the idea had crossed my mind. But Oregon? Unless it was on his bucket list, or even if he had spent time there in the past and had wonderful memories of a family vacation or something, I don't see why he would drive so far. Like you said, Colorado is beautiful. Unless he withdrew all his funds and and drove until he ran out of money and gas.. Someone drove to Oregon, if only we knew who and why.

Agreed laptop needs to be checked along with any other computer he may have had access to.

Well, LE did have to do its due diligence, if only to cover itself should a body later be found - even though they might doubt the presence of such, living or dead, and have good reason to do so.

*****GYPSY UPDATE*****

Efforts underway to locate Gypsy by calling boarders and shelters in an effort to ascertain if, when and with what instructions Daryn left her there. Portabella is Cat Crew Captain. I am her humble foot soldier. For reference purposes:

:)

Great news! I would have offered to do similar had I not been across the pond.

I think anything at all we can find out about the cat will really help us out. :)

Thanks for letting us know Mytee!

A lot of guests browsing the thread...anyone care to join and share your ideas? :)

This is random but I am really perplexed about what happened to Daryn. I know that he was into cats and the whole furry lifestyle (I don't know the right terms, sorry!) Could he have went there specifically for a "cat?" I live on the east coast so know nothing about the animals or demographics there but I did find that there are Oregon cougars in the Mt. Hood area.

Maybe I should delete this post.. LOL - I'm thinking too much!

By the way, I meant to ask earlier:

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/show/20432

Wonder why NaMus has not been updated to include the vehicle information? I know it was pointed out to family members that this needed to be done...pointed out several times in fact. Anyone know of a reason why NaMus would not include the updated info re the car being found? TIA!!!

And much thanks to Portabella for spearheading the search!!!! She leads...I'm just going where she tells me too. (And hopefully that won't be like this :scared: lol).

Yes, this especially needs to be done as there are so few MSM sources - and not very many non-MSM ones - getting the word out about DRC. Not to utilize this resource is a mistake, I think, as there are so few options right now.
