Why bother with a trial??

Any word about her father? I heard they sedated him because he was so destroyed over this. Then I heard he was arrested, finally found some heart to try and find information this morning.

I am sick to my stomach, what has our world evolved into???

I'm not saying it changes when you visit the page, but that it spits out a question when you are setting up the blog in the profile in the very beginning. If you don't answer it there is no answer showing, or you can choose to answer another question by clicking show me another question then hitting save.

I just can't stop thinking about this little girl. I had to take a break from here for a few days. I feel much pain and sadness for her father, too.

She's the spitting image of my 10 year old daughter. Red hair, freckles and blue eyes. Just breaks my heart.......her poor father......bless his heart and bless little Jamie up in heaven. Can't imagine what it must be like to bury your child after such a heinous crime.........I think I need to take a breather as well..........

I am sure that many of you have heard me say this before....but 10 year olds are children who need SUPERVISION. Why in the world was she allowed to go to the library by herself and why was she allowed to chat online with strangers with no supervision?

I am in NO WAY blaming the dad or grandmother, but our children are a God given gift that we must look after. Yes, bad things can still happen, and do. But we certainly reduce that risk by taking every precaution that we can. I keep seeing this over and over here and it absolutely breaks my heart when it could have been prevented.

Parents: There are sick, sick perverts out there that want to kidnap, rape, murder (and in some instances eat) your children! Keep your eyes them all you can!!!! Adults: Do everything you can to watch out for children. Be alert to anyone who is acting strange, watch those children whose parents are not and step in if you see a child that needs help. We have to put a stop to this insanity!

PURCELL, Okla. -- Family and classmates said their final goodbyes Thursday to a 10-year-old Oklahoma girl who authorities said was killed by a man who planned to eat her corpse.



Mourners are trying to set aside the horror of Jamie's death and remember instead a friendly girl who liked to sing and watch movies. The funeral featured religious songs and a video tribute to Jamie Rose Bolin, who liked to sing and sew.



The pastor of a church in Purcell, Okla., suggested that "heaven needed another rose to add to its bouquet" when the little girl was killed.

Yep, I can't handle it. I usually can handle anything, this one, really got to me. I have been having dreams, and so has by MIL, about this. I keep looking at my neighbors, thinking, could they? This one has really messed me up! Now, here I go, crying again at my desk at work as I think about this child. UGH

I think one of the things that is so disturbing about this case is the fact that it was the neighbor. He had no criminal past, there were no red flags at all. True, he had some issues that were known to the family but the fact that he generally was just the guy next door is scary. It really makes you wonder about who is living next door to you or across the street. This is a case that can make you rather paranoid. When you are aware of a dangerous situation you can take some steps to avoid it. Something like this just kind of blindsides you.

Exactly Shadow, I think that is what has gotten to me, and of course what he did to her and planned to do, but I think the kicker was the neighbor part, just as you said.

I look at everyone now differently. Especially since Danielle VanDam was kidnapped from her own bedroom. Another neighbor there too. It's all sooo scary...........

We do not know who is around uswith bad intentions all we can do is be vigilent.I have two small kids and I am sad to say that in todays world I supervise them all the time outside the house. But what happen at school concerns me as Ourschool is in a city environment with no security to speak of.I often think of Dunblayne. You know as Websleuthers we are very aware of all the horrors and do our best to get on with life. Some people go through life with a it-will-NOT- Happen to - me mentality. Iam not one of these. But as we all know there are lots kind people who love kids and would never harm anyone. The big key to this as mentioned in previous posts is watching kids and supervising what they are getting up to and with whom. I would never let my kids Google in thier bedrooms , this computer is the only one on the Net in our house and is located in the loungeroom so all computer activity is scrutinized by me! However, i know that no 2 people do things the same and kids do need their freedom.Mine will probably become total rebels when they are teenagers! :waitasec:

Excellent post. We recently allowed our two youngest to set up email accounts. They know that we have software that will allow us to read every key stroke and that they have no reasonable expectation of privacy - period. The computers are in my office at home, not in their bedrooms. They do have telephones in their bedrooms, but its just extnsions of our house telephone, they don't have their own numbers. If I feel that its necessary, they know I'll listen in. They have no use for cell phones yet, but when they do, I'll be checking the bill and a GPS will be installed. My kids are not allowed to play anywhere out of my house, except the backyard, unless one of us or another parent is there. If my daughter checks the mailbox, one of us watches her. We've got a lot of construction taking place around our neighborhood and it only takes seconds for someone to snatch her right off the street. She'll NEVER be allowed to ride her bike or walk to the store, school, a friend's house, etc. Its horribly sad to have to be this way, but I know that I can't have another missing family member in my lifetime and I'll do everything I can to make sure that I don't have it happen again.

Thanks Jeana, it soundslike weare both living in thesame house! That is exactly how it is in our house too. Unfortanatly, it is a sad fact of modern living. We have not got to cell phones as yet, but when we do I think your ideas about monitering accounts is very sensible. afterall there are sex chat lines advertising everywhere and I do not want my kids into that! There is just to much sex being pushed in every aspect of every day living. I am no prude(really!) but I just think society has lost the plot and common everyday morals are going out the window.Anyway, this is going way of the thread , so will close for now.
