Can't go back there darlin. That was too damn much. :( :( :( :( :(

Jeana, how right you are...
I was finaly able to access the video and pics. I cried like a baby. When they showed her and her friends making that video of their little performance...wow...it just hit me...I have watched and recorded my daughter & her friends doing the same thing many times...just so unfair...and the evil that lurks on this earth is just so un-imaginable.

I have always loved that Sarah McLaughlin song...it was very fitting in her tirbute...just a beautiful, precious little soul.

What really did me in was the still photo of Jamie's daddy looking at her coffin as he walked by. The look of sheer anguish on that poor man's face put me to sobbing out loud.

As you said, Jeana...just too damn much...

Rest in peace and angel kisses to you, sweet child...

i got to watch the videos too. and you know, you read these stories all the time. and it just goes on and on. then you are able to stop and really see the person behind the story. the sweet little girl. and you feel you know her by the time you are finished watching. then you realize you don't know them and never will get to. because they are gone.

i cried too. i have a nine year old daughter. i can't even begin to imagine the horrible pain these parents must go through. for any age of child. i pray that my children will be safe. you can try so hard to protect your children. but you really have to just pray they will be safe because in a split second you could lose them.

if anything i will make sure my children know every day how much i love them. just in case.

It's a twisted sick place is all I have to say
Apologies for resurrecting this thread just to be commenting on this part of it...but as a regular player of KoL for the last 18 months, I felt compelled to answer for all the good and decent people who inhabit that community, who are by far the majority there.

Imagine how all of you, here, would feel if it turned out that one of your own 'regulars' was not what they had seemed to be. If you found out that someone here was capable of something so heinous, so horrible, that you couldn't even wrap your own mind around it without feeling horribly defiled. That is how we felt about this revelation, horrified that one of our own, even if it wasn't someone that many were close to, had done something like this. Deeply sad that a young life was lost, and revolted that many of us had talked to the man who had taken that life, at one point or another.

And then imagine that on top of that, this forum that you call home draws all kinds of negative attention by association. That people assume that because the forum contains the word 'crime', and a criminal was a regular here, it must be a place where criminals come to discuss their crimes. Of course, a closer look through your forums would show that it's nothing of the sort, but of course not many are going to bother looking beyond that initial implication.

That is basically what happened to KoL. It is not a sick and twisted place, if anything it's a silly place. It's not a role-playing game, it's a parody of role-playing games. The word 'Loathing' in the name was chosen on a whim, it has no dark meaning. The average player age is probably early 20's, though there are many who are in their 30's, 40's, even 50's and beyond. The average player type probably has more in common with your typical computer geek than it does with your average emo goth kid or dedicated console-gamer. One of the game's co-creators, the man who writes most of the jokes in the game, is an English major - and literary references can be found in the game as easily as pop culture references can be. You're not going to find too many online games these days with Shakespeare and Stephen Crane quotes in them, nor games where you have to take a short spelling/grammar/usage test (to appease the 'Ghost of the English Language' and prove to him that you're worthy) just to enter the in-game chat.

We are not sick and twisted - we are regular people just like anyone else, who enjoy playing a funny online game that happens to have also attracted a singularly evil being who committed a ghastly and horrific crime. Our hearts went out to the family of Jamie Bolen, and any of us who had children (there are lots of stay-at-home moms playing KoL as well) hugged them a little closer that night - just as everyone else in the country did upon hearing the terrible news. And along with that, we also cringed at the inevitable backlash that we knew was going to be aimed towards our own little community, a backlash of negative opinion that was founded on nothing more than general opinion about RPG's and the game's name.

(also as a side note: the title "Senior Guild Member" on the forum is meaningless - it's an auto-generated forum title when a poster makes their 100th post on the forum. It isn't a reliable indicator of seniority - a prolific poster can hit 100 posts in less than a week, easily.)

HONOR Jamie's memory. That is what is importent. I dare anyone to discuss another forum's attributes when a child has been murdered. What are you thinking?

 • #128
We did - a collection was taken up from the playerbase and given to the memorial fund in her name, about $1300 IIRC. And I meant no offense, and apologize deeply if any was given - I was only trying to draw a parallel between what the perception was and what reality is, in terms that would be easily understood - not compare forum attributes.

I also do not mean to minimize the impact of her death in any way, shape, or form. But I cannot do anything about that, except what has already been done. It just bothers me to see the good members of a community being painted in bad terms when they really don't deserve it.

I don't want to derail the thread, and will say no more - I do not wish to offend or seem disrespectful towards the victim's family, or anyone here either.

Concernedperson: :hand: Whoa! What are YOU thinking?!? Stargazer was not "dishonoring" her memory at all! He has first hand knowledge of a certain aspect of one of the perp's affiliations and posted that information in a respectful, gentle way. He expressed his sorrow for the horrific crime that took place. Usually, we here at WS discuss every aspect of a perp's affiliations or the crime in-depth, and when posters come on that shed some light on certain aspects of a case, or give additional information, we normally welcome that poster AND the information they provide. There are MANY cases on here where another forum's attributes are discussed, (JBR, for one) so I don't know why this would be any different. Stargazer posted in a very respectful, kind way and I don't think he deserved such a harsh, spiteful response!

Stargazer: I appreciate your post and the info your provided. I realize I'm referring to you as "he", sorry if I'm wrong about that.

Stargazer,

:truce:

You didn't offend me, or most who read here.

I am sure you were all as horrified as we were when you heard the tragic news, and then some. I understand what you are saying and my heart goes out to all of you at KoL. This crime touched you because a poster at your forum had serious mental problems. That is not your fault, or the fault of any of the other posters. Only one person is responsible for what happened to Jamie and I hope he is never set free again.

I'm not offended :p

I think it's great to hear all aspects of all stories. When I read a post like this, it reminds me how something like this affects so many. The victim, the victims family, the perps family, LE, anyone reporting the case, so many lives are changed forever........ I am sorry to all who have been affected by this.

PURCELL, Okla. — A man accused of killing a 10-year-old girl in what investigators describe as a cannibalistic plot will be tried for first-degree murder, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty for Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, accused of strangling Jamie Rose Bolin.

Underwood lived in the same apartment complex as the girl, who was reported missing April 12 after failing to return home from the library. Her body was found nearly decapitated inside a plastic tub in Underwood's bedroom closet, investigators have said.

:( PURCELL, Okla. -- New court documents filed by prosecutors allege that a former grocery store stocker charged with first-degree murder in a 10-year-old girl's death discussed cannibalism and cooking organs and told one former co-worker: "I'm gonna snap and kill someone."

This man's brain needs to be disected to see what part of it isn't human.

I would not want to be on that jury. I don't think I could handle any of it.
