It did note that the property was up the road, so it could have been around the area where the bodies were found.

Thanks for pointing me to this video. Just watched it and gleaned some possibly useful details; more on that later if any of it pans out. But one thing that immediately raised a red flag was this:

"Vinyard" religion Sherilyn was connected to them.

Strange wording. "Sherilyn" and not "Sherilyn and Bobby." Anyway, the word "Vinyard" struck a chord deep in some long-neglected recess of my brain. Had to do some googling to figure out why this particular word made me sit up straight and say whoa.

I'm not saying this is in any way connected to what happened to the Jamisons, but it does help explain where all the talk of "demons" and such came from, and may be a significant factor in the "oddness" of their behavior.

Also, the sheriff interviewed in the video seems very biased against the Jamisons, expressing his belief that they were on drugs and some other things that maybe someone in his position shouldn't be saying to the public. Overall, just a really disturbing attitude.

They were mentally ill. Mentally ill people have irrational thoughts and do irrational things.

I wasn't clear enough. I was responding to posts about whether or not Sherilyn was carrying her gun and if it was found with their bodies. I was pointing out that a gun was found in the truck.

I agree with you. eace: What my problem is with that though, did Sherilyn see the spirits too? Surely they don't hallucinate the same thing. But the mentally ill can be manipulated into all sorts of weirdness. Polygamists, cult groups, Westboro church.

I would like to hear more about the religious group they were associated with.

I was thinking that Smokestack Hollow is an area of the region, not like a pinpoint on a map but I don't know much about hollows.

As I understand it, Smokestack Hollow is a valley that runs along the Mountain Fork. I have roughly marked what I believe to encompass Smokestack Hollow on my map. If anyone can provide a source for a better boundary, I can update it.

I could see a situation where they were out of their vehicle and some, potentially dangerous wildlife got between them and the vehicle. The moved in the other direction, and got lost. I don't know what the fauna is like, but a bear, big cat, boar, or even a skunk, could have caused then to move away from the vehicle.

I've been thinking along these lines, too. For example, if the family decided to get out of the truck to take a potty break, maybe some type of wildlife made them head away from the vehicle or harmed the child. I saw a documentary about a bear dragging a little boy away while the child was still alive. The mother and sister tried to intervene; both were subsequently attacked, and only the little boy and mother lived. Does anyone know what kind of wildlife is in the area? Also, does anyone know if all three family members were found in one spot or if they were found scattered away from each other?

Um....there are brown bears in the Ouachita range in general. Don't know of many bear attacks recorded there though.

... there were GPS coordinates written on a sheet of paper, so of course I had to back up and freeze frame so I could scribble them down. They apparently mark the four corners of one of the properties the Jamisons wanted to see. Also, I noticed a reference to Pine Mountain.

Do you see the green rectangle off to the right? That's the property outlined by the GPS coordinates in the video. I went looking for info on Pine Mountain and found one 20-acre property currently for sale (the southernmost green balloon), and one 40-acre property that is no longer available. I'm showing both on this map because Pine Mountain seems to refer to a rather large area and the distance between the two green balloons kind of gives you a sense of that.

However, it's the one marked (Sold) that interests me as possibly being a property the Jamisons wanted to look at. If so, they were very close to it and may have actually found it before whatever happened to them happened.

That one would be "up" the side road that would take then to vicinity of where the body was found. Is there a road to the 20 acres?

Where they pulled of, the well site, is unusual, because it does not have any access other than the road into the site. If they would go to either property, that would not be a reasonable place to go.

I still can't get past the differing GPS coordinates (see my previous post). The Blackberry found in the truck had a coordinate pretty damn close to Smokey Hollow on it. I'm thinking that perhaps someone gave them a lift down there/took them for a ride. Like a quadbike or something similar.

Could someone have had an alternative motive for giving them a ride to 'Smokey Hollow'? They don't need to have known about the money in the truck (bet they wish they did now, if this theory is right). Motive probably something else.

After the event the perp may have returned the phone to the truck so as to avoid LE tracking the phone/locating the bodies.

I wonder if the authorities back tracked the path or a path of the Jamison's to their truck. I also read that the truck was locked but that the keys were in the ignition. Is this a fact? Maybe they were locked out accidentally and began to walk looking for assistance. Just so confusing and so much speculation. Wish we had more facts of the case. jmo

Its all too strange isn't it? What happened for me was I was awake at a ridiculous hour for me and I watch the episode posted as I never had seen it. And then the next day; they are found and I was freaking out...and getting sick on top of everything. The episode did say her Gun was not recovered at the home; or in the car. I assumed her gun would most Def be found on her person at the scene.

Backtracking by an expert might turn up some additional information or discarded/dropped items. In this day and age, sorry to say few people have that particular skill set.

Locking the keys in the truck by mistake would be a good root cause for the beginning of this tragedy.

Exactly, this was my thinking. I would think it would be the first thing you would do. You can't have a truck 2 miles away from remains and just blow it off. There may be sets of 15 foot prints. Surely, they did this with the dogs. jmo

I wonder if it's possible that one of the spouses fell down an incline and was injured (a broken leg, say, or just a sprained ankle) and the other spouse, and naturally the child, stayed with him/her. Maybe there was even a plan -- "I'll go searching for help at first light" -- but then they died of hypothermia when the night grew cold.

Gosh, and what to do, in such a situation! Leave the child with the injured person? Take the child with you, hampering your speed and mobility?

Wonder why they left the truck. Where were they going? Why didn't they take coats, it was cold. Did they get lost driving? Did the truck stall and they decided to walk and look for help. Was there a trail or something leading to their bodies to indicate how they got to the location they were found in? It took searchers a long time to find their truck, they must have really been in the deep woods.

Okay, I'm confused about the keys left in the ignition. I skipped Threads #2 through #10 so maybe I missed something? I just read some older articles this morning and this one, dated Oct 23, 2009, says the opposite:

los2188, a hollow (often pronounced holler, yes) would be roughly equivalent to a small valley.
