I can well understand brothers defending their brother, not believing they could be capable of murder. A lot depends on past history, I suppose. If they were all close, and Justin had never shown signs of violence towards others... understandable.
It's really very difficult to accept if someone you love and have known all their lives has done something like this. It's especially difficult for a mother to turn on her son or daughter. Denial is a powerful emotion and very, very difficult to overcome.
And I agree with teh... you have to do what's right, even if it's your own child. It would be a next-to-impossible task if it were my son... but I would never lie for them.
