Family Pleads For Answers After Man Disappears Without A Trace (newson6.com)

[...]

The last traces of Mike Young were found 44 days ago. It was his car, a black Acura. Sheriff Darrin Varnell says what's odd is how it was found.

The car was parked and abandoned in front of someone's driveway. The windows were all rolled down, the keys were still in the ignition, and Young's phone was left plugged in in the driver's seat.

[...]

The last time Patti Dickey heard from her brother was September 26th, at 2:09 in the afternoon when Young called her from a gas station's landline.

"Said he was on the way home, and also said he had 4,500 dollars," she said.

She says he'd just won the money from a casino. Surveillance footage from the gas station shows the last time anyone saw Young.

[...]

Sheriff Varnell says the way Young's car was left, in the middle of a driveway, just an hour after Young was last seen stands out.

You're not going to go park your car right in front of someone's driveway where it's going to immediately draw suspicion," he said.

[...]

“We have since gone back, spent several days out there on foot, on ATVs brought in cadaver dogs, we have searched just about every square foot of this area back here with no sign whatsoever," Varnell said.

If you have any information about the case, you are asked to call the Pawnee County Sheriff's Office at (918) 762-2565

They didnt elaborate on a whole lot of information regarding the driveway or residence where his car was found. Have they found out anything that leads to believe he knows the occupants of the home?

A bit more info from Pawnee County Sheriff’s office: Log into Facebook

On Sunday September 26th at about 215 P.M. Martin Michael Young AKA MIKE, left Oncue convenience store and went across the street to the car wash. Mr. Young left there at about 230 P.M. Mr. Young's car was found abandoned in a remote area behind Billy B's convenience store south of Cleveland at about 330 P.M.. Mr. Young's cell phone and keys were left in the vehicle, as if he got out and walked away. ..Tulsa Police took a missing person report on Wednesday September 29th from Mr. Young's family. If you have seen Mr. Young or have any information about his whereabouts, you are urged to contact Pawnee County Sheriff's Office or Tulsa Police Department's Missing Persons unit. …

They have him on surveillance video from the convenience store:

So many questions...did they question anyone working at the convenience store or even any other customers? Why use the store's landline if he had a cell phone that was plugged in and working (found with his car?) The fact that he told his sister he had that much money makes me question the involvement of anyone at the convenience store..does the store have surveillance?

Sorting out the times and locations...

Sept 15

2:15 PM - Mike left OnCue Express #49, 308 N Broadway St, Cleveland, OK and went across the street to Tiger Pride Car Wash 401 N Broadway, Cleveland OK.

2:30 PM - Mike left the car wash.

3:30 PM - Mike’s car was found abandoned in a remote area behind
Billy B’s convenience store, 4893 Dixie Rd, Cleveland, OK

All three locations: OnCue to Car Wash to Billy B's - Google Maps

The third photo below looks like maybe it's from the casino. Which raises the question - was he alone at the casino?

Only thing I can think is its one of those phones you buy minutes for and he didnt have any??

ETA: I wonder if he kept his winnings quiet or told everyone? Someone could have also just overheard him on the phone telling his sister and followed him.

Let's try this again. I have no idea where I got Sep 15! And, the OnCue has now turned into a QuickTrip? Since I can't find one in Cleveland I'm sticking with OnCue for the time being as it has a car wash across the street. If someone finds differently, please let me know.

Sept 26

Approx 6 AM - Mike left the Sand Springs Casino.

2:09 PM - Mike called his sister from a gas station's landline.

2:15 PM - Mike left OnCue Express #49, 308 N Broadway St, Cleveland, OK and went across the street to Tiger Pride Car Wash 401 N Broadway, Cleveland OK.

3:30 PM - Mike’s car was found abandoned in a remote area behind
Billy B’s convenience store, 4893 Dixie Rd, Cleveland, OK

Approx 8 PM - The homeowner reported Mike's car abandoned.

Adding the Casino to the map: Osage Casino | OnCue | Car Wash| Billy B's

Where was Mike between 6 AM and 2:15 PM?

Tulsa man missing from Pawnee County for nearly 2 months | KTUL
[...]

... surveillance photos show he was gambling at the slots.

"5:25 in the morning, right there, and that was right about the time he won his jackpot," Varnell said. "The report that we got is that he won $4,500 but we have not been able to verify that. He won a small jackpot at Sand Springs which was about $1,900."

[...]

"He arrived in Cleveland, coming from the north at 2:04 that afternoon," Varnell said. "Where he went from 6:14 to 2:04 is still unknown to anybody."

[...]

The sheriff said he confirmed with Young's family that he had no connections to Cleveland or reason to be there.

Although Young is from Tulsa, he's deemed missing in Pawnee County, so Sheriff Varnell is leading the investigation. But since September, evidence has been slim.

[...]

"We've gone out on foot. We've gone out on ATVs," Varnell said. "We have spent hours and hours out there, searching that entire area."

Perhaps his phone was dead and he'd just plugged it in. I suspect he'd been sleeping somewhere, if he'd been at the casino all night.

Why would he pull over to go behind a gas station/convenience store? He'd only been at the previous gas station less than 1/2 earlier.

And that's an awfully big coincidence he'd do that when someone just happened to be following his car.

I wonder if he met up with someone there - for example to buy drugs?

Hi I would like to thank everyone for help with my dads case. The timelines look pretty great. My father cleaned his car and was on his way home. Why he pulled over and willing got out of his car is what I still don’t understand and makes me think. What would make you pull over and get out of your car to be taken from your vehicle. His phone had just charged. I have a read receipt from a text I sent at 4:40 but I was told that was officers who had been called about the car so possibly gone by then. His car is still impounded and I have no way of bringing it home. I wish they would have looked at all three places footage to see if another car was at all three places.

thank you all for your thoughts in this.

I am very sorry that he hasn’t been found-it must be excruciating

It certainly sounds suspicious.
What i would ask is if he had started to show signs of memory issues. There seems to be a discrepancy with the reported winnings.

What are the chances that he would have been at a bar from 6:14 to 2:04? He'd been up all night gambling, adrenaline high from a win. Goes to relax. Someone overhears he won...

I'm not sure what bars would be open at 6:14 am in small-town Oklahoma

I don't know about the chances for him but if it were me, chances are greater that I would be in a hotel room sleeping. :p

Welcome to Websleuths, @martyyoung. I'm terribly sorry about the circumstances that brought you here and hope with all my heart that your father is found safe.

Perhaps after leaving the casino - he met up with some folks for a poker game somewhere else nearby. That would explain the increase in his winnings for the day. Would also introduce another pool of suspects into the equation.
