Hutson said the 11-year-old lived with her stepfather, Dustin Walker, and her mother, Cherie Walker. Both are charged with child neglect.

What the hell?!!!

Indeed.

I hope the "father" isn't who I fear it is.

Lately the risks of being a child in this country seem worse than ever.

Grandma Michelle sounds like she's either covering things up for her daughter, or in deep denial.

I noticed that too, quite the enabler. I’m sure they do love and care well for the children.

Nothing says love like no running water in a house with six kids, trash on the floor, and a pregnant 11 year old daughter giving birth at home.

In the news story it said they think it was a twelve year old that they babysat, “they just got curious” and well you know …

Unfrigging believable!! We’ll see what the paternity test shows. Two week wait.

Was the little girl in school? I can’t believe an 11 year old could hide a pregnancy. The parents had to have known - they are lying and allowed her to give birth at home. No prenatal care either.

Allowed? Forced, more like. It's not like this poor kid had any way to seek those things alone. She must have been so in pain and so frightened, not to mention the potential complications from a child that young carrying to term and going through labour. Her body just wouldn't be developed enough to endure it without lasting damage.

And her parents not only made her endure the pregnancy but the birth without any support or medical care whatsoever.

They should never have custody or access to their children again.

MOO

There are no charges severe enough for this crime!

No how, no way, an 11 yr old hid a pregnancy. That poor child had to have thought she was dying when she was in labor. And with her under developed body they are very, damn lucky she didn’t. Poor, poor baby (the ‘new mother’).

it certainly does, just look at what’s been going on with the Epstein files, and that’s been right out there in main stream media. All of these poor young kids, it’s like no one is actively protecting them! :(

It's strange that humanity itself must explicitly state the rights of its own children. There were times when children had no value, but unfortunately, we haven't completely moved away from that situation.

That story sounds awfully convenient.

updated OP article

MUSKOGEE, Okla — The Muskogee County District Attorney's Office said an 11-year-old girl gave birth over the weekend, and the girl's stepfather is the baby's father.

Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson told 2 News DNA testing revealed a 99% certainty Dustin Walker is the baby's father.
FATHER IDENTIFIED: DNA links stepfather to 11-year-old girl's baby

Investigators said the child had not seen a doctor in more than a year and had not received any prenatal care. Hutson told KJRH the incident came to light only after the girl was taken to the hospital following the birth.

“I was horror-stricken to find out it’s an 11-year-old little girl who’s given birth,” Hutson told FOX23. “And that she had no medical care, and she had no one to be with her.”
Parents arrested after 11-year-old gave birth at home with no doctor, police say

Dustin Walker is now charged with sexual abuse of a minor, while Cherie Walker faces charges of enabling child sexual abuse. Prosecutors have also added further counts of child neglect, covering both the childbirth case and the child's siblings in their care

and now confirmation that of course she wasn't enrolled in school. Way too many mandated reporters found in schools. Livid for this young girl's plight and very glad to see her mother also facing charges for enabling this abuse to befall the girl.

Two weeks?!

Age 11, my girls still needed help brushing their hair, and believe me, I would have noticed if one was pregnant! Even wearing a large sweatshirt.

Once again, "Homeschool". There definitely needs to be more oversight on this. Even people who are actually homeschooling, wouldn't disagree with a quarterly assessment, progressing or back to school. That would allow more intervention for children who are being abused. Because there currently is absolutely no safety net for children who are victimized.

Do we know that she was homeschooled? I must have missed it.

I help homeschool my 11 year old grandson. I absolutely agree there needs to be more oversight. We are in AL and there is none here. We aren’t held accountable by the state for anything. I have a degree in elementary education and he is getting a good education but the lack of accountability is appalling.

"Hutson also told KOTV that the girl and other children in the home may have been homeschooled.".

I like how the "Grandmother" in the article defends the home for being filled with animal fecal matter, on the pets. Seriously?! I have had pets, and our home NEVER had animal feces on the floor. Sure, a puppy had an accident, which was immediately taken care of. Not a house so grotesque it merited being commented on in an article. This was not a one time puppy mess.
