Grandma Michelle sounds like she's either covering things up for her daughter, or in deep denial.
I do believe it was the former IMO (covering up).

Days after the confirmation of the baby's father, the court charged the 11-year-old's grandmother, Michelle Justus, with six counts of child neglect.

Good. Grandma belongs in jail, then prison, too.

Investigators said the child had not seen a doctor in more than a year and had not received any prenatal care. Hutson told KJRH the incident came to light only after the girl was taken to the hospital following the birth.

regarding the child's lack of prenatal care, it would be interesting to know if her also pregnant mother WAS receiving such care. Her mother has birthed a number of children over the years. I don't know how that woman managed to claim to authorities with a straight face that she was unaware her 11 year old was pregnant.

I am very glad grandmother Michelle was also arrested. Does anyone know, did she also reside in that household?

For anyone interested, Coalition for Responsible Home Education is founded and run by former homeschoolers, most of whom had good experiences, who advocate for better oversight and accountability. If you'd like to do something after reading these stories, please check them out and think about supporting them.

Various searches have strongly associated the same address with her and her maiden name. So I think it's a distinct possibility that she also lived there. Her FB leads me to believe she was in the first two kids' every day life, so I wouldn't be surprised if they lived together then and possibly continued until recently.

I am screaming into the void.

After Jayden Spicer and Emmanuel Haro one after the other, I didn’t feel I could deal with this thread. Of course then I got curious and started skimming through.

If the household is composed of these kids, the mother and stepfather, and the victim did not go to school, it would seem to me that there is literally no one else around her who could have impregnated her except for this stepfather.

Another house of horrors, another child abused, another mother apparently protecting her molesting husband.

I also did babysit when I was eleven, but it was down the hall from my apartment.

I certainly knew what pregnancy was and how it happens.

This child must have been traumatized over and over. The rape by the only man in the house, her body changing, the baby kicking, GIVING BIRTH AT HOME WITHOUT MEDICAL CARE!!!!!! Milk engorging breasts that are likely not even fully developed.

Is she supposed to raise that child? Or the mother, who as I read above seemed to time a pregnancy herself so as to pass the baby off as her own, plans to raise this child?

What is supposed to happen to the 11-year old victim??? What happens some day when the baby grows up and realizes its mother is only 11 years older?

IMO it would be best to let the new baby be adopted by a family who yearns for a baby and maybe will take the 11-year old victim as well. Or maybe the baby and it’s child- mother both are adopted into separate loving homes?

I don’t know the answer.

This is a horrible set of situations. I am so glad they didn't kill her to cover the abuse and did get her to the hospital.

I hope they areocked up for the rest of their life. They mad life traumatic for all of these children. Nakedness, nastiness, and abuse appear to be a regular occurrence in their household. MOO

How does the 11 year decide, "If she wants the baby?". What are her options for a life now?

Truly therapeutic, home based placements, with wrap around services are needed for children exposed to this type of trauma (abuse and neglect).

I just pictured a community of single family homes, all for people fostering these type of children. 💔

Therapy can be utilized to determined the best option. Separation may not be it. She's got a lot of trauma and loss in her life. Sometimes children in these situation do better when they are kept together. This isn't about her choosing whether or not to parent/mother the child, it's about whether or not severing contact with the child will cause more long term harm to her than either placing them together or placing them in a way she does not lose contact entirely. She's already losing so much. (And it's good to lose her abusers, of course, but it's still trauma to lose them.)

that wouldn't 'cure' him - the sickness is in the head, not the 'bits'
but I understand the sentiment
Then cut off both ends.

I guess she hasn't figured out what causes pregnancy. *eyeroll*

</end sarcasm>
I truly believe in forced birth control for people like this.

I'll admit that I'm not too familiar with homeschooling. Is there a process, where the parents or whoever is conducting the "homeschooling" have to go through to prove that they are qualified to teach the children?
It really doesn't matter, either way, there is absolutely no oversight on homeschooling. There should be more protection for children. It seems to me that almost every single death or abuse of children seems to involve "homeschooling".

We need to do better. It would be a simple intervention, quarterly mandatory assessment at school, where the child has an opportunity to be separated from the abuser, and if the child appears neglected, or even if they don't test at grade level, intervention would be mandatory.

It wouldn't save all of the children, but at least in this case, I am pretty sure, someone at school would have identified this 11 year old's pregnancy.

No. Parents just fill out a paper to homeschool. And withdraw their child from school.

An excellent example, was Lori Vallow Daybell, who withdrew JJ, her Autistic son from Special Education, which he definitely benefited from.

And he was killed a few weeks later. She withdrew him from school, already planning to kill him. That way no one would ask about his absence.

That was what I was afraid of; that the parents are allowed to "homeschool" children when they themselves probably can't even read. Something needs to be done about this. So many children are being abused, both physically and sexually and there is no way for the outside world to know.

Upon seeing this little girls age I thought of Jaycee Dugard! Jaycee was the same age as this little girl when PG first raped her and liked similar things before her innocence was brutally taken from her!

This poor little girl! So horrific!

Have any of the children even attended school at anytime?
