Identified! OK - Ottawa Co, Male, 18-35, GSW to skull, Feb'12 - Joshua Sousa

What a sad, haunting death. I can just imagine an abandoned village and this poor boy going out there to take his own life (though I'm just ASSUMING that happened because of the rifle and the skull condition). I hope he rests in peace and I'm glad he went home right before Christmas.

A very odd case as I can find no notice of the victim being listed as having been missing.

One wonders if he in fact were missed at all.

The death notice here gives an actual date of death, so it must have been noted when he disappeared at the time:

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Highway Tabernacle Church, Quapaw, Okla. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kan.

Also, note the date; this seems to have appeared almost a month before notice was published that the remains had been identified - unless the Globe is amiss in its dating of the notice.
