The documents say the toddler's body was found on Saturday, but her death was not reported until Tuesday afternoon. Oklahoma City Police arrested the girl's grandmother, 60-year-old Becky Vreeland, for the murder of 3-year-old Riley Nolan.

New court documents explain what police found at a house on Southwest 151st Street near Western Avenue.

Vreeland told police she woke up Saturday morning, and Riley wasn't in her bed. The grandmother went to the backyard and claimed she found Riley dead in a trash can.

According to the documents, Vreeland didn't call 911 or tell anyone about Riley's death until Monday.

Vreeland said she wanted her son, who was set to be released from jail on child neglect charges Saturday, to have a normal Father's Day with his other children.

Vreeland, from @Imstalla.grandma's post above "to have a normal Father's Day with his other children." WTH does that mean?

The grandmother, 60-year-old Becky Vreeland, told police Nolan wasn’t in her bed Saturday morning (June 18, 2022). After searching for the little girl, she found her body in the trash can outside.

Oh, but the siblings of little Riley, when interviewed, said that they had seen her in her bed on Saturday morning, June 18, 2022, with a purple eye and a bruise to her forehead. But, she wouldn't wake up. (What's up with that?)
Oh, I get it. Grandma means that after she put her into the trash can outside, she wasn't in her bed (any longer). (Very clever, Granny.)

I'd wager that it means that little Riley had a different mother than the "other children." Granny was probably the paternal grandmother -- the mother of the son who was supposed to have a "normal" Father's Day with his "other children" (which didn't include Riley).

She was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the death of Riley Nolan, 3. She is being held on a first-degree murder complaint and child neglect complaint. But she hasn’t been charged in Riley’s death.

Oklahoma County Judge Scott Brockman told Vreeland of her right to a reasonable bond and an attorney but ended the call denying her bond.

State attorneys spoke out on the case as well, asking for two more business days to gather evidence and press charges on those complaints. The state says Vreeland, who had custody of her grandchildren, may have murdered Riley and covered up her death.

Vreeland stayed quiet during the hearing, only shaking her head. The state claims they found damage in the house consistent with blunt-force trauma, and signs of blood. They say Vreeland’s story isn’t consistent with Riley’s injuries.

wow. She dumps her 3 yr old grand baby in the garbage can? Happy Father's Day to her son...what a crazy family. Those poor babies. I hope they have someplace safe to go now.

"He said he left the children in the custody of their grandmother, Becky Vreeland. He said he believed she could take better care of them. But now she’s accused of murder.

“Not only did I lose my little girl, I lost my mom as well,” he said.

Nolan and Smith are expecting another child. She’s six months pregnant.

The judge is recommending that the couple’s children and new baby be turned over to DHS."

Oh my Lord, they are pregnant with another? That is sad. Both parents were in jail for child neglect, while grandmother kills their 3 yr old, so they could have a nice Father's Day? Parents are already pregnant again and this cycle continues?

“Whenever we ended up finding her she was in ... she was in a recycling bin on the side of the house,” Kyle Nolan said. “When I heard the details of what had happened, I just couldn't imagine because my main thing was I hoped that she didn't suffer and then to hear the details and just know that she did,” he said.

Kyle Nolan said he hopes to regain custody of his remaining children.

“I’ll do anything in the world for them,” he said.

So, the father goes to jail on account of child neglect. The "fiancee" is also charged. (Why even make a pretense of calling her a "fiancee", when it hasn't happened, despite several children they brought into the world?)

Grandma wins the child care lottery, presumed to be the better provider during his incarceration. But, not to worry, there's another child on the way! None of these children, who remain, has an ice cube's chance. The judge is right. Get them out, and away from these people.

[And, by the way, during his media performance I saw no tears. The best thing he can do for those children, out of anything in the world, is for him and his "fiancee" to stay out of their lives.]

That makes sense, @alexwood -- you're probably right.

What made her look in the trash can??? I mean maybe, maybe, maybe I might look in there as an absolute last place, but that would be after I lost my voice calling for her and going to every house or building in sight -- and calling 911.

Well, Grandma must have searched high and low, before ultimately locating her little granddaughter in the recycling trash bin. After all, it took her 3 days to report her missing -- must have been some exhaustive search!

I almost have to chuckle on that one, @alexwood. ;-)

People need to be neuterer when there is this much child neglect, abuse and murder.

neutered, sorry. So mad.

I knew EXACTLY what you meant to say, Wild Rose. I couldn't agree more. Too bad that sterilization couldn't be a condition of someone's release from jail in this kind of outrageous situation. I've said it many times: children do not ask to be born. We bring them into the world, and many times they suffer the consequences.

And it's about to get much worse...

from that first link: Vreeland reportedly told Cleveland County Judge Scott Brockman that she has seven years of experience and is "confident in her ability to defend herself."

seven years of experience defending herself in court?
