"According to Morris, 53-year-old Robert Ray Reagan was last seen on July 7 at Hickory Point in a green canoe and was reported missing on July 24.
The July 27 body was recovered approximately five miles south of the Hickory Point boat ramp on Gaines Creek by troopers and the Office of the State Medical Examiner has taken over the investigation to determine a cause of death.

According to Morris, a green canoe and a rifle were found near the body by investigators.

Morris said that the identity of the body has not been positively identified as Reagan by the medical examiner but that his office is identifying the body as Reagan due to the coveralls Reagan was always seen wearing in photos, the canoe that fit the description that belonged to Reagan, and because he has been missing."
