OK - Ten Arrested At Sex Abuse Compound

  • #21
I don't know, Filly, but it's a valid question. I looked on the map and it doesn't look as if either the town of Coyle or the area around Guthrie are on tribal land but I'm not an expert on this. Any locals care to answer this?

Here's a story which was updated this morning and a photo of the compound:

Thank you, TM.:blowkiss:

For anyone I have a question. They forgot to teach me in school during American History about the Natives.:doh:If you live seperate from the US laws you wouldn't show up on people searches? Am I making sense. I'm asking because this one guy that name is French. There's a connection somehow down in NOLA between the Choctow and the French.

Sorry I am wondering why he's so invisable this guy. Pay me no mind and my lack of education.

Maybe he's never had a telephone in his name, never applied for credit, and has lived with someone else who paid the rent & he just pitched in...that's my guess for living under the radar.

BTW - Guthrie is not tribal. It was the original capital of OK, and where the land rush began in 1889.

Get ready to want to b*t*h slap:furious:, Alice Juzan. The woman told victims "What happens in this family stays in this family".

Warning this is awful stuff. It's tough to read. It sheds light on how such horrific things happen to children and the cycle. One Uncle gang rapes a nephew who in turn rapes a younger child.

http://www.koco.com/r/26133611/detail.html

The article also says there were people dropping their kids off there knowing they would be abused and picking them up later.:furious::furious:

For the heck of it here's a photo from one of those grave sites. There's an original Isaac Junaz who was born in 1930. That lady Alice was born in 1951. That's a fairly significant age difference. He's deceased. We know she isn't.

I guess Alice wasn't right. And Alice doesn't live here anymore anyhow. My Lord. Here's a slide show. I rarely say this but they are a sorry looking bunch. They look ticked off that their little set-up got raided, IMO:

http://www.koco.com/slideshow/news/26131620/detail.html (note--numerous photos)

And another article with a few different details:

http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=13666581

Multi-generational. The officials say they hope they "got it stopped". I'm afraid not. Filly, you said that there was a comment about "people dropping their kids off knowing that they'd be abused". I can't find it. I want to know more about those folks.

Did the RSOs who lived on the compound NOT get visits from their 🤬🤬🤬???? Did they NOT know that children were present?

Daily Oklahoman finally sees its way clear to mention the atrocity:
Eleven arrested in Logan County child molestation inquiry
---
“I've been a police officer for 17 years, and this is one of those cases that I don't think I will ever have trouble remembering,” [Logan County sheriff's Chief Deputy Rob] Groseclose said.

Several trailer homes on the property sit well off the partially paved road near Coyle. Some of the homes appear abandoned and there is a broken-down recreational vehicle on the property.

“There's trash everywhere,” Groseclose said. “It's just a nasty, filthy place, especially for kids.”

From one of Missizzy's links this, IMO, is heartbreaking.

http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=13666581

11 Arrested For Child Sexual Abuse, Neglect At Logan County Compound

One of those suspects is a 14-year-old boy who's accused of molesting a child. Authorities said the teen was raped by two men.

The Stroups said the filthy conditions the families lived in are why they first befriended the teenager.

"He's a pretty average kid. You know, just running around all the time. I had him mow my lawn and he'd come over and have supper with us every once in a while," said David Stroup.

The Stroups said they knew some of the people who lived on this land had a history of sexual crimes, but they didn't realize it was still happening. They say the young man they took under their wings never said a word about it. (ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGG)

"He put his hand on my shoulder and said ‘You know what you're my bestest friend in the whole wide world,'" said Janet Stroup. "So I wonder if maybe at some time or another he didn't want to try and tell us.. But couldn't. I don't know. I don't know."

IWannaKnow--I found the same line heartbreaking but I also had another visceral reaction. I'm not particularly proud of it and it sounds a bit harsh for the boy but I'll share. I didn't mention it last night but I will now as it might be an issue with the case.

Most know that I've raised and worked with many children with attachment disorders. It's a tragic and almost unfixable disorder. It begins when the child is preverbal and sometimes even while still in the womb so the hardwiring is a bit off. The fact that this boy befriended this couple could be nothing more than a simple cry for help. I might be reading far more into that line than appropriate.

However, I see something a bit more. Notice that they fed him. Notice that he put his hand on the shoulder of an older woman--a figure of authority. Notice that he told her she was his best friend. My guess is that he's unattached due to his family not bonding with him. He's a victim and my heart breaks for him. However, it wouldn't shock me in the least to learn that he's stolen from this couple--small things and food. Children who are unattached/not bonded with a caregiver take care of themselves. That's all they know. They often fill up the "empty holes" with food as it tastes good and gives them a moment of pleasure. They also are often indiscriminately affectionate with strangers and people who are peripheral in their lives. They can gush with compliments while they are stealing from your purse at the very same moment. It's a major shock for people who don't understand the disorder as they take it very personally. They are hurt. You just can't be, though, when you are working with a child with attachment disorder.

There, I've opened up a foggy little window into the confusing and tragic life of living around children with attachment disorder. This kid makes the perfect victim. He's also likely to offend, sadly, as he has a shaky moral compass. Someone knew that. My guess is that his new foster family is having to set very firm boundaries for him.

My prayers are with all those children--yes, even the ones who offended. They acted out what they were taught.

I have to wonder if these people were filming or photographing any of this abuse. It would make perfect sense as it would be a constant flow of income. Has anyone seen a search warrant or probable cause doc?

OK, that place that I posted on the other page? The mobile home park for *reformed* sex offenders with a sign on the gate that says "No women or children past this point"? It is only 42 minutes from Coyle OK. I'm not saying that anyone from this mobile home park was involved in this crime, only that some comments I've read lead me to believe that the people of OKC believe this place to be a problem.

I was really intrigued by that story, IWannaKnow. I noticed that the link was on a site which is actively seeking to do away with the registry (not OK in my book!!) and that they simply had a link to the story. I did some sleuthing to get more info about Rev. Nichols and his ministry, "Hand Up". I have to say that I kind of like the idea. My son, who is a RSO, would do perfectly in a place like this. I've even talked about an idea like this on the boards before. Giving these men a quality of life and keeping them busy while still highly supervising them. OK, I found their site:

http://www.huminc.org/

http://www.huminc.org/Application/Application Men.pdf (their application, very thorough and professional looking--one for men and one for women)

Not to go too far afield, here is an article which is not very supportive of Hand Up Ministries. This doesn't surprise me but there are some valid points here:

http://glbtokc.blogspot.com/2008/12/child-sex-offender-group-owns-okc.html

Anyway, oddly enough, many sites about Nichols have been taken down. I found one link which connected him to Tony Alamo!! Really? I wonder if the attention from that single article caused the place to shut down. If so, I wonder where the offenders went. As you've pointed out, they wouldn't have to go far to the Guthrie Compound!!

Still looking.

In googling "George Carl Hankinson Oklahoma sex offender" (and not connected with this case) I did find this:

http://www.homefacts.com/offender-detail/OK24571/George-C-Hankinson.html

George C Hankinson
2001 N Indian Meridian, Coyle, Oklahoma 73027
Race:White
Sex:Male
Height: 6' 1
Weight: 175 lbs.
Eyes:Brown
Hair:Brown
Age/DOB: 08/30/1941

Somebody knew he was there. Why wasn't he on the main registry? FWIW, Alderson and McCoy show up on the same site. However, they also come up on the main OK registry page. I posted their info on page 1 of this thread.

A commentary about Hankinson and the failure of the OK SO registry:

http://www.examiner.com/business-strategies-in-oklahoma-city/child-predators-the-oklahoma-system

Child predators in the Oklahoma system

"George Hankinson has come into the news as a sex offender but there is more to this case than just such. The concerns brought out in this case deal with more than just these predisposed desires of the individual. There are legal decisions made that are now to be questioned. The protections offered by the governmental authorities in such matters must be questioned. A conscience of thought into what is happening with sexual predators in this state must be expected to occur. The expectance of what the courts do, must not over-ride the public needs for protection...."

I don't really feel as if I need to "prove a point" as I know about attachment issues firsthand. However, I've been reading the excellent series about childhood sexual abuse in the Wichita Eagle. I hope they win the Pulitzer as it's an excellent piece of journalism, IMO. Anyway, notice how the children who are abused and troubled seek out food and attention from neighbors. It's so tremendously sad. But there's not a single WSer who's been a foster or special needs adoptive parent who doesn't recognize this MO. Bless those brave girls.

There is three parts to this series and we do have a thread.

BBM. Is it just me or does that article badly need a copy edit?

I had difficulty tracking an argument there, but it seems clear that more consistent monitoring and info-sharing with respect to dangerous RSOs is required. Several times recently where we're based there have been radio and newspaper warnings concerning sexual predators being released back into the community. They're shocking and effective -- and then there's nothing. No followup, no sense of these offenders being carefully scrutinized by LE, though no doubt they sometimes are. What would help? Better public info? Still more streetproofing? Embedded microchips? Lifetime incarceration?

scapa--It's not just you. I noticed it too. Several miscues caught my eye and my editing days are limited to high school and a single book which I edited for a friend. I'm not sure what's going on but you are correct.

"...must not override the public needs for protection"

"The need to grow and develop means we must allow them to expand their understandings by exposure to things of this world."

I honestly don't know what to think. I actually thought, for a moment, that it had been translated. It's such an important issue for the people of Oklahoma but the Business Strategies commentator was the one tapped to write. Maybe a first draft rushed to publication?

FWIW, several commenters did call him on the carpet. Mr. Pulse answered the comments and this is indeed, how he writes. Let's hope that this is just the beginning of a spirited and hopefully more erudite debate.

They've been to court and none have posted bond. The children were all removed. Good. You have to wonder why the abuse continued after the arrests in October. These people just didn't seem to get it, I guess. I'm curious about the comment about a compound and then "homes within 3 miles of each other".

http://www.kfor.com/news/local/kfor-news-group-arrested-child-sexual-abuse-story,0,3816497.story

Group arrested for sexually abusing children

"Logan County authorities rounded up numerous suspects this week. Some of those defendants are convicted sex offenders who were living with children. Authorities say they found several children living in filth and being sexually abused in what they describe as a compound.

It happened in at least three homes all within three miles of each other in rural Logan County.

Tuesday those accused of abusing the kids went before a judge...."

Ed Whitlock, Senior passes the buck, calls one child a liar, and says surely sex offenders are welcome in his house.

He didn't know no kids were being messed with and him and his lady Mizz Rushing got no ties, got no problems. They can just up and move.

Of course. Move on while your son is in jail, and call the little guy he raped a liar, pal. Move on so the rest of us in this free country have to worry where you hang your hat.
