I wonder if he caught something to eat and field dressed it, for the non-human blood.
That was my thought as well. Particularly since there were bloody hand prints found on the truck. The male blood may have been from a cut while butchering.

The former military member also has “extensive tactical training,” according to the US Marshals, which is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to Decker’s arrest.

“His boss told him or told me that he had talked to Travis on Friday and he seemed like he was on the brink of something really extreme,” according to the petition.

Around a month before the murders, the accused killer abruptly ended his daily counseling calls he had been holding with a Georgia pastor — some of which included conversations which lasted several hours, the documents reveal.

All the while, Decker apparently made attempts to reconcile relationships with his brother and father, and attempted to rekindle his romance with Whitney.
Travis Decker was on ‘brink of something really extreme’ before daughters were killed: court docs

I don't think I had read previously that he was estranged from his family. Sounds like in the weeks before, he was unravelling quickly.
-------------
In almost every case, the familicide is premeditated and the perpetrator views his family members as property, such that he maintains the right to end their lives (Scheinin, Rogers, & Sathyavagiswaran, 2011, p. 327). Regardless of motive or history, this typically stems from the belief that they are solely responsible for their family’s needs (Marzuk, 1992, p. 3181). Perpetrators need to maintain their masculinity, which is tied to the family unit, as well as control and power over their family members. When these factors are threatened, they act out against the family violently and fatally (Yardley, Wilson, & Lynes, 2014, p. 131). When fearing abandonment, offenders adopt a Medea complex (‘if I cannot have them, no-one can’), exemplified through the murders (Liem & Koenraadt, 2008, p. 315). Studies of these cases provide insight into how the psychological processes of marital conflict and parent-child conflict interact (Wilson et al., 1995, p. 278).

About Medea complex. I have to correct people here as obviously, there has been a misinterpretation of Medea’s intentions.

If you reread Eurypides, he explains it very clearly. Jason wants to divorce Medea to marry Glauka (Creusa), the Korinthean princess. After her father dies, Jason will be the king.

In a parochial society, the children stay with the father. Medea does not want her children to be raised as the slaves to the children of Jason and Glauka.

Most cases of matricide do not fit into Medea’s pattern of thinking. It is important to understand because Medea’s behavior is sometimes used to explain “bad mothers”. Truth is, we are discussing a very different society.

so one handprint is non human blood. Will we ever find out what kind of animal it was? same with the male print, maybe just waiting on DNA?
I think the animal was a dog. If not, it raises more questions, including: was he a hunter? Could he have gotten some disease from the undercooked wild game that led to encephalitis or such?

This is just one example. If he hunted in Montana, easily. Tick-borne diseases, what not.

Remember the carcasses of animals on his avatar?

The bloody prints on the truck could have been there from something else not related to that particular time with his daughters. Maybe he did dress some sort of animal for food and cut himself and had not noticed the handprint to wash off.

There are various trails and roads someone could follow but as an example, Google Maps says the walk from Rock Island Campground to the Ingalls Creek trailhead is 32 miles.

I wonder what makes them believe he's in this area. A tip?
And if he IS in this area, he is alive.
hope it doesnt mean he slipped up because he's ready to give up. This could be a very dangerous time depends on what TD is planning.

I don't think he could make it as far as our Canadian border all that easily! There are the Cascade mountains on the American side and north of the border miles upon miles of dense wilderness and high mountains to Manning Park on our side. And no major cities nearby even if he made it that far, to blend into. Just more wilderness and towns miles further.

Thanks for that info! Sounds like a promising lead may be pointing to this area?
It definitely sounds more promising than anything else I've seen so far.

How far away is this from the border? I saw a couple of helicopters circle close together for quite awhile on the live flight tracker late this afternoon. They were very close to the Canadian border.

We can hope! Sounds like he doesn’t have a firearm, they may be able to take him out quickly when found. If he doesn’t cancel himself first.

Take him out? What do you mean?
