I think they waited a while. The update was posted 12+ hours ago about the search area shifting. I think if they spotted him and are fairly sure it was him, then there is a duty to warn also to consider. People might be getting immune to all the searching and talking about this guy and with previously closed areas now being open, I think they had to warn the public and give specifics so people would take it seriously. If they have him, I don't see how he could get away if they know all the ways he could escape an area and they somewhat surround it or keep eyes on the area from the sky while people are on the ground, I think he will have to come out, move around to get water, or something. maybe bloodhounds are on his trail.I think it’s silly to tell the public they’ve seen him and that they’re tracking him with scent before he’s been apprehended unless they’re absolutely positive he has no access to a device with signal.
Ellensburg is hardly a destination city, so I'm curious why you think this is where he's headed? He is making for Ellensburg.
He is making for Ellensburg.
It also serves as a “Hey, you’re surrounded, give it up.” If it’s not him, they haven’t lost anything strategic.I think it’s silly to tell the public they’ve seen him and that they’re tracking him with scent before he’s been apprehended unless they’re absolutely positive he has no access to a device with signal.
MOO Its the trail he is on and there are multiple roads out.Ellensburg is hardly a destination city, so I'm curious why you think this is where he's headed?
Am Canadian and from what we learned in my history class, no police cannot go on reservation land instead they have to go through the reservation chief.I'm not sure if it's the same in the US as here in Canada... and don't quote me on the laws either but I don't think police are allowed on reservations?
From my memory years ago, police are not allowed to go on reservation land. So in a way, if he did think to go there it could be a red tape nightmare about jurisdictions however unsure how Feds work in the US.
I will go look this up online and edit this if confirmed as I'm curious now![]()
I really don't see any advantage for him to head up here to Canada, and IMO he would not be coming this way all that easily, even on the PCT, with all eyes on the lookout for him. Certainly if he headed straight north through the Cascades, it is rough terrain, and not just a matter of number of miles. IMO.How many miles on the PCT from his original location to Canada?
He had 2? 3? days before searches started.
You can move so quickly on the PCT, easily 20-30 miles/day
I bet he brought 2/3 of those pizzas along for food if he hiked
He would be able to change his appearance drastically by removing head hair, facial hair & covering up all tattoos
Someone made a comment about him potentially blending into a homeless population. Maybe he could be in Vancouver, Canada?
Before the searches started he could have also hitchhiked to who knows where?
*IMO the amount of time between murders happening & search starting was really on his side no matter how you look at it*

I wonder if TD might have started the fire on purpose to buy himself more time?FYI, currently there is a wildfire at the mouth of Tumwater Canyon at Leavenworth. That is a Chelan County Fire helicopter.
Hwy 2 from Coles Corner to Icicle Road is closed for the ongoing wildfire near Leavenworth. Here comes fire season. Ugh.

The dog might have and should have bitten him for sure.I think the animal was a dog. If not, it raises more questions, including: was he a hunter? Could he have gotten some disease from the undercooked wild game that led to encephalitis or such?
This is just one example. If he hunted in Montana, easily. Tick-borne diseases, what not.

Remember the carcasses of animals on his avatar?
Highly doubt it. He would draw instant attention to himself and that area is a canyon with steep, rocky terrain on both sides with a river. Hwy 2 runs through it with heavy traffic. No where to hide.I wonder if TD might have started the fire on purpose to buy himself more time?
