Curious if ex-wife had recently started seeing someone?
She didn't have to. If she rejected his very recent (wedding anniversary) proposal to reconcile, just before the last visitation unfolded, which she did reject, of course (anyone in their right mind would), and for him to move back in to the family home, he would (likely) assume that this would eventually happen.
And then the girls would - hopefully - at some future point have a new father figure, or at least someone that they were not afraid of. And who stood up for their mother. And that would not be him.
MOO

Do have a link regarding the girls being afraid of their father?

the afraid of the father may be the info coming from her lawyer ( I think she was her lawyer) an article that talked about how one was afraid because she hurt her arm and couldnt find her dad, how they were not comfortable b/c they didnt like how he handled the dog. Kids can get afraid of the change in behavior or the unpredictability of it.

here's one article that talks about:

Decker’s “lack of stability” was blamed by Whitney for leading to a “negative impact on their children.”

The three girls were “deeply affected,” which led to “heightened emotional stress,” she added.

“This is demonstrated through screaming/crying bouts at drop off or when they get off a phone call,” she wrote.

“Our office recently received a tip from a hiking party who stated they spotted a lone hiker in the Enchantments area who appeared to be ill prepared for trail and weather conditions, and appeared to be avoiding others.”

As an ex army soldier, I would have thought if he was on the run, he would be very prepared. Unless, he has had a psychotic break and isn’t thinking right. And, it was not planned regarding his children or anything else. 🤷‍♀️

One of his ex coworkers said he was kind of a narcissist. He may have thought he was prepared, imagining himself as an elite army ranger survival expert that could live in the wilderness with just a knife and his wits, but in reality he’s not as prepared as he needs to be.

He could be aiming for Ellensburg or even Yakima, but I’m not surprised if he got hung up in the Enchantments.

Am Canadian and from what we learned in my history class, no police cannot go on reservation land instead they have to go through the reservation chief.
I'm not sure how all that works in the U.S., even though I have lived briefly on an Indian reservation, but if authorities were looking for a non-Native person, off-reservation police would almost certainly be allowed on the lane.

I didnt realize it was near their anniversary, that was probably another trigger. Although at this point, a swift breeze would trigger him .
I dont know anythng about his mental health, I know some people who have been through a load of trauma and arent walking time bombs.
He seems like he just wants what he wants, but doesnt want to work too hard to get it. ( his own dad said he wasnt big on responsibility.
It feels like attributing a lot of what he did to mental health, separates the person from the problem, and minimizes acountabilty. we probably dont know the half of it. He acted like a spoiled brat to begin with. tantrumming , or raging out on people and the dog if things didnt go his way. he probably is very skilled at using fear to control people.
It just got out of control because he seems very immature.
so does he think he would get control... by doing what he did to his kids so his wife would feel it?
what a complete and utter loser, someone needs to take his elite soldier status (whatever it is) away, he doesnt deserve to be thought of as elite.
and another thing, bullied ? I need to hear that story and what he calls bullying, I dont believe anything he has said now. he is estranged from his brother and who else ?, cuts off the pastor, or it ends abruptly.
he has a very short fuze (like thats not obvious).

Apparently he did not finish Ranger training.

Cokchuk Lake is a vacation destination with cabins and a 9 mile hike around the lake.

So if he there, he has made it to cabins and supplies. Its June and lots of people are aroind.

of course not cause b/c he acts like a spoiled little baby

The only thing he deserves Elite status for is making people feel like nothing is his fault

lack of stability...doesnt know what to do outside the army I guess.

" he filed for divorce because "hes not worth it"

<modsnip - inappropriate>

Colchuck Lake is in the Enchantments wilderness area, there are no cabins there. It is tent camping/sleeping under the stars only, and only with a permit. It’s pristine wilderness. Colchuck is small, it wouldn’t be 9 miles around it.
