Found Deceased Olivia 5, Evelyn 8 & Paityn Decker 9, found dead, manhunt on for father, Travis Decker 32, wh 2017 GMC Sierra PU, Wenatchee, 30 May 2025 #2

When the helicopter sighted the fleeing hiker; I am hopeful they were able to capture arial video. I believe the arial footage would be useful to the searchers ‘and hopefully’ it would detail the kind of condition he currently is in. I am trying to be optimistic that this might be one of many clues that will aid in swiftly locating him.

Tracking teams responded immediately, locating a lone, off-trail hiker from a helicopter near Colchuck Lake. The individual reportedly ran from sight as the helicopter passed.

Suspected sightings of Travis Decker intensify search near Leavenworth

The tip noted the lone hiker “appeared to be avoiding others” on the trails, prompting tracking teams to respond to the area, where an off-trail hiker was spotted and ran from a helicopter flying near Colchuck Lake, says a sheriff’s news release issued Tuesday afternoon. More searchers and a police K-9 unit were called in and tracked a man believed to be Travis Decker, 32, to the Ingalls Creek trailhead, south of Peshastin, off Highway 97.

Interesting, my friend literally just got back from doing the Camino walk/hike in Spain too :)

I am hoping TD's clarity declines and the stress and "reality" kicks in and maybe he'll get confused in those woods and start going in circles or something. People get lost in the woods easy enough, I am curious his mental state at this time.
Jmo, I think he's crazy dangerous if still alive. Watts, for instance, was raised to blame anyone, everyone, else, including biblical characters for his actions. If this guy isn't able to do this, he'll explode when confronted by ppl who know what he did to his kids, when it sinks in. We can deal with any misdeeds, ourselves, but when we see what we did in others' eyes......

Does anyone here know if the tracking dogs used up there tend to be more or less successful?

I know in past cases in general, these dogs have been hit or miss and their accuracy tends to vary based off environment and the training those specific dogs are given. We've had some cases where dogs miss someone 4 feet away, some where a dog ends up tracking a fugitive for miles to where they are ultimately found. I guess I'm just curious of the likelihood that the dogs get confused with all the different scents out there (+wildfire smoke, other hikers, how difficult the terrain appears to be) and lead the police away from where they should be searching..?
IIRC they are using Border Patrol support and I am guessing their K9's as well. Of course there is a margin of error, but If any dogs can track well I would personally bet on these if they have been trained in the extremely harsh environments that BP works in. I think this makes a difference on how well a team can track in the forest. Tracking in the city/hard surfaces is different work. Just a speculation on my part. I don't have specific knowledge on what dogs are being deployed.

The thing is TD recognized he had issues and sought mental health intervention through the VA. He was put on a waiting list and did not have an advocate. We (in US and Canada) need to do more for our veterans. This includes but not limited to mental health, housing and financial guidance.
More money needs to be allotted to the VA.

And in both countries, I feel we need to address and modify the Amber Alert System. Hopefully, Whitney Decker will help in advocating for these changes in the future.

Edited to add: I am in no way sticking up for TD’s actions. But, had he received the help he requested, perhaps the scenario would have been different. :(

I wonder if some assumptions are just "assumptions"?

For example, "lone traveller". Yesterday I followed some comments on Chelan county FB and the advices were, "just shoot him" (dude who wrote it, are you sure it is "him"?)

By the same token, he may not be "lone". I won't get into details, but it may be not that difficult to camouflage by not traveling alone. The other person may not follow the news (homeless or not) or...many options.

BTW, is Travis following the news? Did he leave his phone or not? He is probably not using it but staying close to public networks is the way out.

Any updates regarding the search area, this morning?
From the Chelan Co Sheriff update this morning. Not good. Must think he wasn't there at all or has moved to a new area. Hopefully we hear some promising news today at the joint press conference with Sheriff Morrison and the U.S. Marshals Service at 4 p.m

or get caught, face what he did, take accountability, and everyone see him as a failure (in many ways) for the rest of his life... Hell on earth.
SBM.
Another horrific thread that I’ve tried to avoid because it’s too painful, but of course I keep seeing news about it.

I HOPE he’s in Hell on Earth if he’s alive, and if dead I hope he’s in Hell in Hell.

He chose not only to kill his beautiful girls, but did it in the most sadistic way, guaranteed for them to suffer through agonies of not being able to breathe nor to remove the bags from their faces.

Likes and loves to everyone here because I haven’t read through most of the posts.

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Two phones were found in his truck. Perhaps, he has a third phone. Nothing really definitive has been mentioned either way about the possibility of him having a phone with him.

Everything you said falls in line with my post, I'm referring to where I think he is, mentally, now, and you're referring to his unfortunate path in getting there.

I very much hope it's him and that this can safely be brought to a resolution soon, but just in my experience, he's not the only solo traveller in the wild who 1) isn't visually geared up like a conventional modern hiker and 2) is not interested in interacting with anyone, and especially not with people who look like the authorities, such as in a helicopter. JME.

That's snow on the ground so it's gotta be cold and he's going to need to be dressed for that.

They could be referring to the black shorts, whitish shirt he had on when last seen, iirc. That would narrow it down, imo.
