Cops Give Out Free Money to Solve Crimes
Omaha, NE - Omaha police go back to an old time tool in hopes of fighting crime, a newspaper. The department is publishing it's own monthly in order to stop crooks and believe it or not, make you money.

From an execution-style shooting to the killings of a woman and child, cold blooded criminals are getting away with murder. "You just wonder who would do something like this, it's taken a long time to find them," says Brad Waite. Waite's sister Shirlee is a victim in the Dundee double murder. Shirlee's killer was never caught.

Snipped "Brad Waite, Shirley's brother, tells me he still can't get over it. "It never gets easier, it's something you think about everyday, it's just not an ordinary thing." He shared photos with us and thoughts on her final moments. Waite insists she was not the target that dreadful day. "If someone wanted to target her there were other opportunities." Waite tells me his sister lived alone."

My understanding is that the POI parked his car to the north a few doors down and walked up to the front door. From what I recall in seeing this house myself if SS's car was parked in the driveway under the portico it probably would NOT have been visable to him. If she parked out a bit it would have. My bet is she parked under the portico to enter into the kitchen when she arrived.
So he may not have known he was going to encounter a third person until he went to the door.

I'm wondering if too much emphasis is being put on Tom's computer game put on "pause".
He could have done that even before he went to school that morning. He may not have even been in the basement. He could have been standing in the dining room talking to the killer when things went crazy. Who knows?

Was there a back drive behind the house as well as the side drive? If so, and Shirley's car was parked there, it would not have been visible from the street. If that is the case, and the killer was after Shirley, wouldn't he have checked for her car and waited for her to leave her job and followed her in case other people were in the house?

On the way to work, listening to the news. There was a short teaser on a FBI bust. Did not catch where the bust was, but it involved politicians, rabbi's and others ... mentioned the selling of organs, kidney's to be specific. Never mind, was in New Jersey

What about teachers at King? Any quit suddenly in the relevant timeframe, scandals?

My feeling is the guy was looking for the mother. He knew she wasn't at school/hospital taking time off to go out of town. I think he thought she was home. He saw the car and mistakenly thought the housekeeper was mom as they look very alike. He may have brought a gun but used a knife as not to alert the neighbors. I'm thinking he didn't even know about the boy, and he killed him when he came upstairs to investigate.
Most likely the crime was a crime of vengeance, the killer blamed someone in the family for some "misdeed". Maybe his mother or wife had died under one of the doctor's care and he took the life/lives as revenge.

I've thought about a link to clinical trials/medical research/treatment and as you said someone who felt wronged. Never in conjunction with the Mother though.

Wish they would put this case on AMW, we need more details!!!

The parents are both doctors, could be either one as the target for revenge.

I have to wonder if OPD and FBI are close to solving this by turning down AMW. I can't think of any reason other reason why. But perhaps I'm just trying to remain optimistic. You are right Knox. It would be great to have more details, wouldn't it?

I have been down with what probably was H1N1 and not posting for about a week- just now getting well and hope to post some stuff in a couple days, although there is not much new but should find something. Also one of our regulars has been away on vacation.
Hang in there- more to come.

Thanks, Snick! Glad to hear you're feeling a little better! Things have been quiet without you and WM.

Respectfully snipped from Astro Thread; Case Briefings Only

Yellowdog ... Tuba answered your question below; Does the chart indicate who was killed first, Shirlee or Thomas?

Tuba Said; " No, Yellow Dog but the housekeeper was in a hall and Thomas in a room. The chart does show she tried to protect him so she was undoubtedly "taken care of" first".

Well now that I am over- or almost over- my bout with the flu, maybe it's time to give the thread a bump with a new thought or two.
I was discussing this case several days ago with someone who has studied and I think knows quite a bit about it. They pointed out something that took me back: Apparently there is no record of any of the neighbors ever seeing this POI being admitted to the home, he was seen cutting through yards, etc but never at the door or being admitted. Nor, was he seen exiting out the house, certainly not by the front entrance. He apparently was spotted by someone walking back to his car and driving off but not exiting that house.
I'd need to go back and reread the contemporary news accounts- I had thought he was seen being let in. Maybe one of our members can check that out and post your findings?
This person also noted that the side door, into the kitchen- could have been the point of entrance. This was just off the dining room, and the door down to the basement was in the DR. So it remains in the realm of possibility that the perp could have been an intruder who perhaps ran into Tom coming up from the basement and in a panic killed him. In other words this could have been a botched home robbery gone terribly wrong.
This is not what I personaly believe- but I am open to all possibilities. My personal opinion is that this was a planned calculated killing for reasons that we are as yet not aware of. It just reminds us that we need to keep open to all possibilities.
