I didn't see any problems with Kaine and Desiree's answers...JMHO

My notes from the show.

Does Kaine consider her a suspect. He looks at Desiree long moment then says yes.

Desiree says ever since Kyron went missing there's been a lot they've found out, red flags.

Kaine didn't see Terri's firsthand response to bus driver saying not in school.

Kaine says he started running and didn't see Terri's face.

She seemed upset. More about investigation focus on her.

First poly came back is first suspicion. Very vocal. Story would change daily.

Des and Kaine unable to answer why Terri would want to harm Kyron.

Did Kyron ever complain about Terri? Des: he did but nothing out of ordinary that you wouldn't find in children from "split homes".

Desiree believes Kyron is alive. Kaine nods slightly in agreement.

What can we do to help. Des crying. Get his face out there, talk about Kyron, everybody know her son and who he is.

Terri upset that all these people think badly of her.

segment over

They both seemed extremely nervous talking to Oprah. I've never seen them look nervous like that. They each seemed to have stage fright a couple times, couldn't talk, couldn't answer the question.

I noticed something way off in that interview when watching it this am. I wasn't sure what it was - thought it might be that Oprah was lacking for time, or she was unhappy about something. The usual bond she makes with the person/s being interviewed wasn't there. Glad I wasn't the only one to think that. moo mho

I just watched the segment on Oprah, too. I wish that Kaine and Desiree had talked more about Kyron than Terri. I also would like to hear more from them about where they think that Kyron might be and with whom. They've said this frequently, so they must have some thoughts about their son's possible whereabouts. I also wonder if we'll hear much from them now that the investigation is being scaled back to a small task force. jmo

Can't even begin to scrutinize at this point, but thank you Oprah for getting Kyron's face out there to approximately seven and a half million people.

That's a lot of people, and someone has to have info.

The one line that stood out the most to me was the explanation of why Kaine and Desiree believe Terri is responsible:

Per Kaine: "The inconvenience the investigation was imposing on her" (meaning Terri).

Oprah asked Desiree if Kyron ever expressed any displeasure with Terri, this is how she answered: "He said he didn't get enough time with me" and "He didn't want to go home",
those were the examples that she gave.

Oprahs intentions were good, and this interview had me jumping off the fence and then back on.

They both very much believe he is alive and being held by someone, and Terri knows who has him.

Haven't seen it, but this was last minute. It's possible they were whisked on there, asked a few questions, then whisked away. Seems like there wasn't time for her to bond with them or do any sort of real meet and greet. Maybe that's why it seemed off, I don't know. I'm just glad they got on there and hopefully a lot more people know about Kyron's case now.

I have to say I was really surprised. But Oprah is a very powerful woman, and a huge celebrity, so I can understand if people get overwhelmed on meeting her.

I didn't either. I did, however, have a problem with Oprah. She just didn't seem to care much at all and she kept interrupting!

At least Kaine and Desiree were able to state they believe TMH is a suspect and that even from the beginning she hasn't seemed to care one bit that Kyron is missing, only that she was being inconvenienced by the investigation.....Seems to me ONLY thing that matters to TMH is TMH...Hopefully, she is charged soon...JMHO..

I'm really stuck on the comment of it being a major inconvenience to Terri. They said it several times. Kaine even said that Terri told him she was upset that everyone thought she was a bad person.

I guess I expected them to come on a national tv show and offer us more than this. Maybe Oprah expected more too.

The Oregonian blogged it live:

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/09/live_blog_kaine_horman_and_des.html

1:55 p.m.: Oprah asks Kaine whether they consider Terri a suspect

"Yeah I think we do," he says.

"Do you believe she knows what happened to your son?"

"Yeah."

"Do you believe she has something to do with his disappearance?"

"Yes.

"Ever since Kyron went missing, there has been so many things that we've found out and added up and all of it -- red flags."

1:57 p.m.: Oprah asks Young why Terri would want to harm her child, and whether Kyron ever complained about Terri.

"He did. But nothing out of the ordinary," she said, adding that it was usual for any child who lived in two homes.

1:58 p.m.: Oprah asks whether it wouldn't be a good idea to appeal to whomever they think has their son.

The parents say that they have.

Oprah asks, "What does she say?"

Young replies, "Nothing except that it's an inconvenience for her."

I saw no problem with Kaine or Desiree....Oprah seemed disinterested, rushed...too bad. Kyron, Kaine and Desiree deserve at least equal time.

I must be missing something! How does that help bring Kyron home. Why would America look for Kyron if Terri is the perp and LE/Kaine know exactly where she is staying (with her parents). What is America supposed to do with that info?

IMO they are far better off staying in Portland and asking the people of Portland for their help. Exactly what help, I don't know, but at least they are close. moo

I totally agree! Their story was more important to me than the hostage story.

Equal time to what? I've never seen such an enormous amount of media time given to parents of a missing child...this is unprecedented. IMO no one child is more important than the next. I hope the taxpayers of Portland are ready to fund the next million dollars for the next missing child. moo mho

Perhaps you are missing something... I don't believe Kaine or Desiree have ever claimed TMH has Kyron hidden away at her parent's home...
They believe she is involved and responsible for whtatever it is that has happened to Kyron.. And they believe he is still alive and they want people to continue to look for him....JMHO

What I meant is that Kaine and Desiree know EXACTLY where the perp Terri is all day - nobody needs to look for her. And if she is involved and responsible for whatever happened to Kyron, what is America supposed to do with that info.

Oprah made sure Kyron's picture was on the air several times, so unless there is some guidance where people are to look and search - their words will be forgotten by most. moo mho

ETA: I was at work when watching the Oprah show at 9am Chicago time. Two people were watching it with me who don't know anything about the case. They said: So what is the take home message from this? What a waste! moo

I watched the interview and to me it was more of the same old, same old - TH knows, TH won't talk, TH is selfish, etc, ad nauseum. I would like to hear one solid piece of evidence from the parents in lieu of remarks about "red flags", and "TH feels inconvenienced". One SOLID piece of evidence would go a long way toward my climbing off the fence.

My opinion only

well I timed the actual interview and she did give them 5 minutes. Better than nothing for sure...The interview was nothing more than what we all have already heard from following this case. If putting those beautiful pictures of Kyron in the "Mass Population's Eye"...then that's wonderful..there are many who don't even know about the case...o/t...what happened to KH eyebrows ???

Kyron could be anywhere ..if alive.

Knowing where Terri is...has nothing to do with knowing where Kyron is..if indeed she handed him off. I just can't imagine that someone who would allow a child to be kidnapped could then say. "But hey, keep the kid in Portland."and CONTROL that...and unless I believe THAT, I fully understand the wisdom and rationale of Kaine and Desiree. Their little Kyron can be anywhere. Therefore, IMO, what Kaine and Desiree are doing/saying makes great sense.

I understand their desperation too.

Perhaps the parents believe that the story has been very well covered in Portland....not so much across America. I certainly cannot say I believe the national coverage has been as intense as Portland...but maybe others here believe it is all equal. But from my point of view, they did a fine job.
