Found Deceased OR - Joshua McCoy, 5, Autism, goes by "Josh" or "Joshie", may not respond, missing when mom woke up frm nap at 5:30pm, Stage Rd, Hauser, 10 Nov 2024

Unfortunately I've had it from the get go after the 4.5 hour nap that some can (understandably) relate to. :(
Same here, Gemmie -- wondering if Joshua really did take that nap... a long nap at home... or a long, long walk... or, or, or...
Hoping we will find more about what really happened.
Another sad, sad one. And what a beautiful child with that pretty smile.
Fly high, Sweet Boy.

I am just seeing this now, I am so sorry for Joshua, the person he should have been able to trust the most hurt him. I will never understand this kind of thing. I will admit I was holding out hope that this was a sad accident which happen way to often and now to hear that it looks like mom is the cause makes me ill. ALL IMO.

She may have thought he wouldn't be safe or well taken care of with his father, especially if she had planned to kill herself. Nothing specific points to that here, but it is sometimes a factor when mothers kill their children--they think they're helping them. Though murderers who love their victims typically don't leave them naked in the woods.

I'm a bit confused by the locations of everyone in the family over the past few years... all three moved to OR and lived in the house together for Angela's work. Then a year, year and a half ago, Angela and Amos split and Amos moves back to OH. Then at some point Angela and Joshie move to UT and live with a friend? What's going on with her job at that point? She drives a porsche so she must not be doing that poorly, and on top of that she retains ownership of the house she and Amos bought, because she and Joshie move back to OR just a few weeks before his death. And all the while social services is investigating, but Amos doesn't particularly seem clued in to that?

It's all quite bizarre. May not be mine to know, but I don't understand Amos just leaving Joshie. Would be insightful to know if he has custody of his other kids.

I do not believe that AG ever actually intended to kill herself. If she had, why go to the trouble of removing Joshie from the home and hiding his body in the woods? It would have been much simpler to simply to leave him in the house and take her overdose and be done with it all. Parents who kill their children & themselves in murder-suicide typically do so in the same general location & time frame.

Since the "I was sleeping and he disappeared" story doesn't seemed to have worked as planned, I do think she may want to have everyone to think she was planning to kill herself as a way to "excuse" her actions and have some sort of sympathy for her.

Not at ALL what I expected to hear! (No arrests expected).
==============================================================
Hypothermia and exposure contributed to the death

[snip]

The DA does “not anticipate any arrests will be made in the near future.”

===============================================================

Gemmie again - About the DA saying that he doesn't anticipate that any arrests will be made in the near future. Say what?!?!? So, even with the tire track, the "long" nap, and that we've read and what she told her ex-roommate about him being naked and dead in the woods per @tlcya's post upthread:

Documents also say that during that interview she “also made comments about Joshua being naked and dead in the woods.”

Full post HERE. If that's a true statement how in the world would AG have known that!?!?!? Sometime is NOT adding up here IMO!!!

NOTHING is adding up. how would she know her child was naked and dead in the woods??? Tire tracks? Lack of scratches dirt mud, even on soles of feet? Mom didn't report missing, called her friend who reported her to CPS about it instead?

So much math not mathing in this one.

Maybe toxicology report will shed more light on this. I admit, I haven’t read every post or link, but if pills were found in the home & the mother is taking ketamine & downers to sleep, I could see those as a glaring possibility, whether accidental or not. Those types of drugs always cause me to raise my eyebrows.

Apologies for my bluntness but it seems the evidence points to the child being moved from the home. The only reason that makes sense to me is the removal of Joshie is to make circumstances appear different than what they really were regardless of whether there was an accident or more sinister occurrence. The child was incapacitated when moved - no reports of cuts, bruises or markings so far. Ignoring intentions, the mother has to know more than what she is telling if she was the only person in the home.

It's more than no cuts or bruises... there was no mud on the bottom of his feet and he was naked! Joshie didn't float to where he ended up, he was placed there IMO. That is why I just can't wrap my head around the latest news that the prosecutor said no arrests expected. Why the heck not? How are they coming to that conclusion because it makes NO sense to me.

The boy was naked and partially under some brush, but had no scratches or mud on his body, including the bottoms of his feet, court documents said.

That doesnt mean that someone didnt cause his death. If someone left him out there alive, thats still foul play
I agree. So then why would the prosecutor say no arrests expected? Any ideas on that? I'm asking as I'm at a total loss as to the why and would love to hear what others think.

im truly at a loss. im hoping this announcement is premature, considering toxicology isnt even back yet. I dont see any scenario where no crime was committed. His feet werent dirty, so he didnt just wander off

Apologies, as my wording may have not been the best. I was attempting to imply the lack of marks indicate no restraints were used so child was likely unable to move due to other reasons. What you mention above just adds to the suspicion/evidence IMO, & I wasn’t intending to discounts those at all (lack of dirty feet, tire tracks, etc.). I get the impression he was alive prior to being removed from the home but not responsive but the hypothermia/exposure likely occurred after being moved I would assume.

No arrests because as of now they don’t have all the facts. Wait for the tox reports, as I have a feeling those may shed more light on this. Right now, the mother could possibly only be charged with neglect, false reporting & interference due to what is known to be a contributor to the cause of death up to now. More contributors may be coming soon.

Glad you posted this as it made me go back and not gloss over a very important word that I posted upthread:

The DA does “not anticipate any arrests will be made in the **near** future.”

Yes. The DA decides on the charges but LE continues gathering evidence/information. That quote says potentially a few things to me:
  • LE is waiting on further evidence/facts before proceeding further
  • there isn’t a person LE can go & physically arrest yet
  • LE hasn’t located where a specific POI is residing (yet)
  • LE is still gathering information to determine factors related to death
Once the above are checked off, then I suspect more action to follow.

IMO, we will not hear anything about AG being a suspect or POI until she is arrested if that is the course this case takes eventually.
As far as them not knowing where AG is, my thoughts have suggested she possibly unalived herself somewhere, she chose to seek treatment (which might delay an arrest or further interviews possibly?), or just hunkered down somewhere avoiding the world.

As for Josh, it's actually a typical thing for people to begin to remove clothing as hypothermia sets in as the body begins to feel abnormally hot. It's not altogether impossible that he removed his own clothing. But I still have a hard time believing he wandered there himself without any scratches, mud on his feet etc. He would have had to removed his clothing pretty much where they found him. We don't know if clothing or anything else was found nearby. Except a fresh tire tracks.

I think this is being played close to the vest all the way. IMO as always.

<sigh>

All this & it takes over 4 months for anyone in DHS to react. Who raises a kid with this BS sitting around? Syringes & Narcan - so is it too early to assume there was more than barbiturates & ketamine being used?

"State workers documented “alcohol use, filthy home with food on the floor and human feces in the home,” according to the affidavit."

"During their investigation, police later learned that DHS had opened a case against German over claims of neglect and mistreatment towards McCoy. During a search of the home, police described unsanitary conditions, as well as several prescription pill bottles, syringes, and an unused box of Narcan in German’s bedroom."
