It's nice to see his confidence in his "old boys club" breaking down

Oops - too late to change the time on that hearing for today... it's at 8:30am not 9am.

I'm So Mad Right Now I Could Spit Fire!
I'm sorry, Canader. :( One thing to keep in mind is that baby killers don't always fare well in prison. Hopefully this monster never makes it out of there alive. MOO

From the article:

Wolfe pled guilty Friday to one count of aggravated murder and one count of second-degree murder in the deaths of 3-year-old Billy Fretwell and 25-year-old Karissa Fretwell. As part of his plea deal, Wolfe will not face the death penalty.

Yamhill County Court said both charges carry a sentence of life. The charge of aggravated murder has a possibility of parole after 30 years, while the second-degree murder charge has a possibility of parole after 25 years.

Wolfe is scheduled to be sentenced on July 20, according to Yamhill County Court.

Michael Wolfe sits behind his lawyer, Jack Sweeney, at his change of plea hearing, at the Yamill County Courthouse on Friday, June 17, 2022, in McMinnville, Ore.

For the first time in years, Wolfe appeared in person — not by video — in Yamhill County Circuit Court.

The man at the bench was almost a different person from the mug shot and driver's license photo shared by police during the search for Karissa and Billy.

He looked older. His hair was longer, and his clean-shaven face was replaced by a full, graying beard.

[...]

Three members of Karissa and Billy’s family sat in the front row with a victim advocate during the five-minute proceeding. They were immediately escorted out of the courtroom and unavailable for comment. Family will have an opportunity to give impact statements during the sentencing.

The defendant's side of the courtroom was empty save for one woman. She wouldn't give her name but said she was related to Wolfe's ex-wife.

[...]

When the Statesman Journal asked about Billy's cause of death after the hearing, Yamhill County District Attorney Brad Berry said it was undetermined.

“That’s how it will remain,” Berry said. “Nothing about that will change.”

[...]

More than a dozen members of law enforcement, including from Salem Police Department, and the Yamhill District Attorney’s Office lined the back row of the courtroom Friday.

It irks me that he has a chance of parole. I don't care if it's after 25 years or 30 years. Anyone who can kill an innocent child, let alone their own flesh and blood, should never see daylight again.

Noting:

[...]

... Wolfe received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 30 years for the count of aggravated murder and a second life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years for the count of second-degree murder.

[...]

Karissa’s mother, step father and sister all read victim statements before Wolfe received his sentencing. Through tears, Karissa’s sister, Katrina Kent, spoke directly to Wolfe about how his actions have impacted her and her children, saying that her child asked her to tell Wolfe that he “cries all the time” because of him.

After the sentencing concluded, FOX 12 asked Mykel Moats, a friend of Karissa, what she would say to Wolfe if she had a chance. She says he is not deserving of any words.

“He’s literally the scum of the earth,” she said. “He deserves to look at their face for the rest of his life. I hope he sees their face before he goes to bed. I hope it haunts him forever.”

Karissa's sister Katrina Kent cried throughout her statement and read it quickly, as if to get it over with.

She described her sister as a passionate and hard-working mom who loved her son more than anything. She wanted to be a teacher and was working toward her dream.

She described Billy as a child with a contagious smile. She said she misses the frequent FaceTime calls with her sister and Billy because she loved seeing “that sweet boy’s face.”

“You and your selfish ways put a dollar amount on two lives," she told Wolfe.

Kent told a story about her own son, who when asked to write down one wish in class, wrote that he wanted to have his aunt and cousin back.

Kent ended her statement by telling Wolfe, “You are a monster."

Hugs, @Canader357!

I hadn't been back here in a couple of months, and just discovered this news. The idea that the killer of a child so young - in cold blood no less could even be eligible for parole makes me feel physically sick to my stomach.

I'll be holding my now 4 year old son tight tonight.
