GUILTY OR - Kaylee Sawyer, 23, Bend, 24 July 2016

I have never seen the police call a missing person case a "homicide", and then have the missing person turn up alive. :(

So sad.

The above link says the suspect is a security guard at the college near her apartments. Police must have found security camera footage that led them to change the case from missing person to homicide victim.

Glad they got him. Now where's Kaylee and how do they know she's deceased?

According to the link they tracked her phone to a home where they were asking who lived there etc. I speculate they found it was a home connected to Lara and via probable cause were able to search it and find evidence suggesting she is deceased.

Oh my goodness! So sorry to see this. Good, quick police work. I am only about 30 miles from Corning - hasn't hit my local news yet that he was arrested around here.

whoa. What a mess. Now - he will also have attempted murder in Yreka.

Two suspects were arrested in Red Bluff Tuesday after officials said they shot an elderly man in Yreka.

Police responded to the area and found the elderly male victim who had been shot in the stomach. Emergency personnel transported the victim to Fairchild Medical Center.

After receiving the information about the suspects, a Red Bluff CHP officer spotted the stolen vehicle on southbound I-5 near Flores Road. The vehicle was traveling faster than the posted speed limit.

The CHP officer attempted to the stop the vehicle but the driver failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. CHP said the chase reached speeds of about 100 mph for about 10 miles.

The two suspects, identified as Edwin Enoc Lara, 31, from Bend, Oregon and Aundrea Elizabeth Maes, 19, from Salem, Oregon, were booked into the Tehama County Jail on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, carjacking, burglary, and other charges.

http://www.redding.com/news/local/Oregon-murder-suspect--388262972.html

The man was in critical and unstable condition Tuesday morning at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, police said.

Just a few minutes after the shooting at a nearby gas station Lara stole a Honda Accord with a man’s family inside and forced one of the family members – a boy – at gunpoint to drive the car, Bowles said.

I recall in another article that Lara had no previous criminal record. WTF happened to this guy?!

I hope the victim in Yreka is able to pull through :ohwow:

There's also speculation that the woman with Lara is a victim rather than a suspect.

Good point. I wonder if that is how he got from OR to Yreka? Carjacked/kidnapped the female and decided he needed to new vehicle in Yreka? But why not leave her there?

She was named as a suspect is MSM for the attempted murder/kidnapping/etc. in Yreka, but if that is redacted I will alert a mod to edit my post of the article which named her.

Local journalist for Action News plans to post booking photos (per her FB page - Cecile Juliette). Says the relationship between the two suspects is not yet known.

Sorry cannot figure out how to link to FB from my phone (ugh!)

Im wondering how he got from Bend to Salem. Im in Portland and the route(s) he may have taken do include a greyhound bus, not all but a couple. OR did he drive and ditch his car in Salem?
