Phone interview by KGW of LE confirming S. and McKune were found safe. No mention of McKune being arrested though. Hopefully there will be more info tonight at 11.

Once again, sleuthers call it... just last night several of us posted she will be home safe very soon and voilà! You follow enough cases and you start to get a sense about them.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I see "pedophilia" thrown around a lot in these discussions about teenage girls. Pedophilia is actually specifically about the sexual interest in pre-pubescent children, not post-pubescent teenagers. This is its own type of -philia, still disordered and illegal (when acted on), but it's not pedophilia.

Dear nevereverever, I know you don't mean it in this way, but I have seen this argument--that attraction to to post-pubescent teenagers (although I would argue that not every 13 year old is post-pubescent, I wasn't)--is not pedophilia used in an attempt to mitigate the attraction of older men to very young girls as some sort of biological imperative. In other words, males are biologically programmed to be attracted to the youngest possible girls who could possibly bear children because they are likely the most fertile.

This, of course, presumes that human beings are incapable of evolving beyond strictly biological mandates, and of course only considers the physical development of a young girl, not her emotional or mental development. Fortunately, this is why there are age of consent laws. At any rate, I thought for diagnostic purposes pedophilia included attraction to children of 13 years or younger regardless of an individual child's stage of physical development. I could be wrong, but I don't think using the term 'pedophile' to refer to this perp is necessarily off-base.

Anyway, the main thing is that S. has been been found alive and safe, and I know we're all happy about that!
