Do we know anything about Kyron's biological mother? Maybe it's been mentioned and I missed it, but is it possible that she could have taken him?

I believe they stated she was in Medford where she lives. That is at least a 6 hour drive from the Portland area.

I heard him ask that all parents, students, staff and visitors please come in.

Attached are photos of Kyron with his project and, later, his classroom after he was reported missing.

It looks to me like Kyron's project was exhibited in his classroom. So what I don't get is why his stepmom says that the last time she saw him was when he was headed to the classroom.

They set up his project, then went where?, then he was headed back to the room?

I don't get it. Did they go look at other projects in other rooms before he headed back to his room?

O/T.....love the tennis balls on the chair legs in this picture you posted, my kids school used to do that also, it eliminates the screeching sound as chairs are moved and prevents damage to the floors.

Just an observation....

In the most recent photos of Kyron, Terri (can I use her name since it's been mentioned in the news now?) tagged them with Kyron's mother's name.

But from two weeks ago through as far back as she's been on Facebook, she's never tagged photos with Kyron's mother's name.

I wonder if she was tagging the photos of Kyron to be nice, so that they'd appear on his mother's facebook wall, to be spiteful....

I wonder if there's some kind of discord between the adults in Kyron's life.

I hope not.

I just can't get a feel for this case at all; mostly due to the hideous way it has been reported, too many inconsistencies early on about times, sightings, etc...

I am wondering about his biological Mom only because someone said she was on her way yesterday and I can;t imagine anything that would take predecent over getting down there last night...but that's just a vague question I have, among many.

I'm just not getting the feeling that LE thinks this is a stranger abduction but can't say exactly why; at this point, I don't think it is but can't imagine he would have gone off at that point either, frog or no frog...just confused...sounds like he was pretty rule-oriented and would not have charged off to look around in the woods...JMO

It is 8:30PM and still very light outside. Oh PLEASE find him before it gets dark! :praying:

I wonder if he may have had a summer vacation visit planned with his biological mother? I don't know why I wonder, I can't explain it. This situation is so usual and sad.

I guess just trying to figure out what happened and why? Maybe that is what brings us together. The need to know why these things happen, prevent what we can and help when it is unpreventable. And to offer comfort to all who care, during it all?

I know what you mean, but by the time the mother knew for sure that something was seriously wrong, it may have been late. And then she'd have to make arrangements for somewhere to stay, I would imagine. And then the 6 hour drive. If she doesn't have custody, perhaps she doesn't have a car or something? We just don't know yet.

anyone else wondering about the older kids who go to school there? i wonder if any other students were "absent" that morning?

or, what about "extended family members" visiting the other kids science fair projects? uncle on vacation, older cousin, etc.....

He wasn't reported missing until almost 4 pm yesterday, so she would have been notified sometime after that. With a 6 hour drive, it would have been 10 pm or later for her to arrive. They said she was on her way yesterday, so she has been there all day today from what was said by LE about all parents in contact and fully cooperating, etc. The news reports saying she was on her way that came out today probably were just copying information from earlier reports and did not make the change.

True Kimster. She may have had other children she needed to make arrangements for, or needed to borrow money to get there.

I truly wish her lots of support. Sometimes non custodial parents get forgotten or ignored in both the good and bad things about their children intil after the fact. We don't know the dynamics of why she doesn't have placement. I hope she has the support and help she needs as well.

I know what you mean. Seems the huge sense of urgency we have seen in some other cases is missing. Don't know if it's the reporting or if LE have some idea or suspicion of another possibility. Guess we will have to wait - it is the weekend. moo

I'll bet it is hard to find a motel if mom needed one at this point. There is an annual Rose Festival going on there. The scanner has been talking about parades and bike runs and it really is crazy in Portland this weekend.

Still not listed at missingkids? I wonder why some get listed almost immediately and others sometimes not at all?

There is still some light out, but it is getting darker and darker.

Oh man I'm sad.

And still with hope. :praying:

LE or press (at last conference) said they were extending search to near the family home...

how far is that from school, do we know? Wondering why they would do that unless it is fairly close and they think he tried to walk home?

Searchers Keep Looking For Kyron Horman

It's been an exhaustive, and largely frustrating, effort for the more than 150 people who searched the ground around Skyline
School Friday and Saturday. Some of them planned to stay at it all night and into Sunday, looking for seven-year-old Kyron Horman, or for any sign which might lead to finding him.

Fourteen different agencies, including teams from the four neighboring counties and the FBI, are using any resources they can to help with the search. Nearly 40 hours after Kyron's disappearance, volunteeers like Multnomah County Search & Rescue's Tony Bernavo were trying not to feel discouraged. "The best thing we cvan do now is hope," says Bernavo."There's a lot of people looking for him, doing all we can." Bernavo is one of those people willing to search all night and beyond, if that's what it takes.

But as time moved on with no sign of the boy, the ground search part of the effort was slowly scaling down, while the detectives' investigational work was increasing - and spreading out over a much wider geographical area.

I don't get Facebook so what do you mean tagged the photos with the mother's name?
for instance, when my daughter puts pics of my grandkids up on her facebook page, she will type in my name as if it was a pic of me, that way it will show up on my page. i posted some pics of old school friends recently and "tagged" each of them which makes said pic show up on each persons facebook page. if someone put a pic of Kyron on their facebook page and "tagged" it as a pic of his mother, it would then show up on her facebook page. i hope that helps :)

You can help the police.

They have requested that anyone living in a 5 mile radius search their yards and property.
Check outbuildings, under porches, automobiles, old appliances. Anything that a child may crawl into. If you find anything out of the ordinary "do not touch it".

Contact the police immediately.

They request the public do not come to the search area.
