Such a heartbreaking video of the family. So very difficult to watch their pain. Heart wrenching. :(

Trying to focus on this Sauvie Island. I am thinking the quickest way to get from the school to a body of water near Sauvie Island, would be NW Skyline Blvd to NW Newberry Road, to NW St. Helens road where you would cross the bridge to Sauvie Island? I'm not from around there, so just guessing. And I wonder how long that drive would take. Is it about 3.5 miles away?
thnx for any help.

Here is a link to pufnstuf's most amazing map:

Thank you!

Is this where they are searching? It is 19.6 miles away. I need to go look for the link. When I did a search on google maps for Sauvie Island, Portland, OR this is what I came up with.

The way they are above is all that is said about them. I just clicked on those that were around school.

Did you asked in the scanner thread if they could rewind to that date?

I not sure we could look up a case number on the sheriff site?

I don't know about that but doesn't it seem odd that there was an incident at the school at 8:40 a.m. on the day Kyron went missing?

Here's a thought - what about rewinding the scanner to the date and time after Kyron was reported missing? Would be interesting to hear what was going on on the scanner at that time.

Kyron Horman: The view from across the street

After I got home from work last Friday, there was a knock on the door. My first thought was "pizza night!" But it wasn't a neighbor. It was two police officers and the principal from across the street.
We are missing a little guy," they said. Have you seen anything?"

We searched the building. Nothing. Later that night, the news vans started to arrive.

My neighbors are devastated. This area is very much like a small town, even as close as it is to Portland. There is something about living here that melts the indifference toward others. We read the comments in the media that point fingers at some imagined lack of attention to safety, and we are stunned.

We don't live in fear. We know our neighbors. We know the school, and we look out for each other.

I don't know Oregon at all, but is Sauvie Island anywhere near where RSO Tony Phipps was picked up attempting to abduct the 11 year old the other day?

I really, really hope the SM doesn't post here. This is her child, for all intents and purposes, and the constant speculation that she hurt him is uncalled for and not ok by me. I am done with this for a while.

If I told you I loved your avatar would you stay a little longer?:blushing:

Please don't give up on us quite yet. The parents/family are always the first to have to be cleared with these things, as you've probably heard.

I am in the scanner thread also, I'll ask them.

But earlier today I saw a photo with a caption of quotes from searchers. To paraphrase: The searchers instructions were to make choices about where to look by thinking like a 2nd grader.

The searchers were not instructed to think like... someone... who's murdered a child and thrown away their body.

Let me ponder that for a few minutes...

That means they think he wandered off from school, or was waylaid and then left out in the woods or whatever - alive, huh?

My speakers on my computer are broken so I watched the family statement without sound. I noticed the SM's blinking right away and I also noticed something else that I couldn't put a name to. Mahoneys07 put a name to what I was seeing -- shock and also bewilderment. JMO

On the blinking - several thoughts. Dry eyes. Contacts. Bright Lights. Allergies. Tranquilizers. All of these things make me blink, a lot.

Also, people show grief, etc in different ways. I am the strong one in any crisis that doesn't fall apart and supports others. When it is over or under control, then, I do, and I generally don't do it in public. Just the way I am. I can't imagine in a million years what these people are going through. I pray I never do.

I not sure how far they can rewind back but they are lot of help with that on scanner thread.

Is this where they are searching? It is 19.6 miles away. I need to go look for the link. When I did a search on google maps for Sauvie Island, Portland, OR this is what I came up with.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...68,-122.758484&spn=0.263083,0.727158&t=h&z=11

According to the info on Pufnstuf's map, they were searching on Sauvie Island/Sauvie Island Road on horseback and ANG helicopter.

When I look at the map, I find the area they may have been searching to be around 5.5 miles from the school.
Here is a link to pufnstuf's most amazing map:

Maybe we are looking at two different areas of Sauvie Island since you are getting 19.6 miles???

Yes, the map shows you where Sauvie Island is, however, the school itself is very far west from downtown Portland, where you're measuring from. Sauvie Island is probably 5 miles or less from the school... I'm guessing, but you could put in the school's address to get the exact distance. It's closer than it looks on this map.
