Question - Could LE possibly have had the pick-up towed to check for evidence/rule out, but want to protect SM from further rumors so had a dealership do it? And then media found out?
Any thoughts?

That deserved a written thanks Reann. ;}

Hard to believe that I am all confused here. (ha ha) I thought there was a sighting of a white truck in the afternoon and then one in the middle of the night.

What day was the middle of the night sighting?

I thought they were both before he was missing?

The generalization is he wasn't too keen on how LE was handling the case, being so secretive and all. I didn't hear his interview but read about it here. Hope that is correct. All I know is he was critical on how LE has handled the case.

Ok, thanks. Not sure how that ties in to my comment tho' lol.

The truck was towed yesterday, btw.

I picture an older gal in a mauve suit, pearls and stack sling-back heels sitting at her computer looking out over a green-swept field to the trees. Bach playing in the background and her little Lshsa Apso watching the monitor as she types !!!

All facetious and nothing personal but Gosh sakes, thank goodness for the right of free speech!

Barbara Cartland?

They would need either permission from the owner of the truck or a search warrant to search it. They wouldn't do it without a police officer being there before, during, and after, to ensure the chain of custody.

Sorry sometimes I feel like doing this.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

It doesn't have to necessarily be "evidence" - this family's child is missing and there could possibly be clues as to where he is in that truck. Its as simple as that. LE is certainly NOT going to fess up to some agressive reporter about why that truck was being towed from that house.

Wouldn't that be evidence?

Exactly. People will wonder and LE knows that. We did not get to see the passenger side of the tow truck. Possible that LE was riding shotgun. Also possible that the cameraman and the reporter knew that but was told "Ok - you caught us but its icksna on the deputy in the cab".

Any good news reporter would, in fact, follow that tow truck. LE contracts with towing companies - they don't have their own tow trucks. Would really like to know if that tow truck ended up at a dealership.

As for LE's comments about the truck needing repairs - well sure, that's pretty mundane and would explain everything. But, you can bet everyone (and their brother) knew that IF any media saw that towing there would be he77 to pay - so, simply "it needs work done".

Besides we don't even know what vehicle SM used that morning. But it is very odd and maybe even too coincidental about the very early tips of a white pick up.

Ok - I'm done. Boy, sure took up a lotta space to say a whole lot about nothing.

Speaking of good reporting, perhaps the KOIN website should reword the video or this blurb so they both say the same thing? Just sayin'. (they could use a spell check too)

Investigators looking for new clues
It has been 12 days since Kyron Horman was last seen. Investigators are searching new areas and providing more pictures to try to solicitate more tips from the public. Investigators also towed a truck from the Horman property and searched a neighbor's home.

Nope, the 3 pm one was on the 4th and Kyron was missing, just no one knew that yet. Later that same night...early morning on the 5th...a neighbor saw the second truck and she told the JK guy about seeing that one. JK did not see that one himself.

Ok, thanks. Not sure how that ties in to my comment tho' lol.

Don't we have a scanner thread here for this case? Some towing co. dispatch on a radio to have a driver go out to an address to pick up a car or truck. Any idea is some one would know?

Yes, I am sure. The JK guy said he saw one at 3pm. His neighbor supposedly saw one at 2am that same night/early morning when she let her dogs out. No description of size or anything on either truck, except that it was a blond woman driving the one he saw in the afternoon.

The 3 pm sighting was before anyone knew Kyron was missing. The 2 am sighting was after LE was already staying with the family at their house.

is it confirmed that le was staying at the Hormans overnight friday?

Not sure if posted yet, not sure what it means....

At about 5:15 in this video, the Horman truck is being removed.

Editing onve again, you have to choose the correct video- the one with this image, FOURTH one to the right, shows image of sherrifs offices

Wow. The newscaster said the truck was removed at the Horman's request because of "mechanical problems". Uh huh. Did notice that the truck didn't look like it had been washed recently. Me thinks that is good.

ETA, just read that it was towed to the dealership. I can buy that. We'll see.

How about this re the white truck.

I think my car is in my name and my hubby used to have a truck and it was in his name.

Perhaps that is the way it is at their home as well. So Dad could have said, "Go ahead. Take it."

I am sure that it was searched day one or at least day 2.

Would they need an elaborate chain of custody thing if they were just taking the truck as it was used in a crime?

There may be no evidence, per se, in the truck as I am sure that Kyron rode in it a lot.

But if LE knew it was the vehicle used because of other evidence such as video tapes or whatever, they could just load it up on a flat bed.

Or am I wrong in all of this?

*snip*
I do not believe in coincidences.
*snap*

Really? My day is full of them. I sneeze here on this side of town and somebody opens a new box of Kleenex on the other. It's pretty much constant.

Looks delish, kind of like Chinese Won Ton's without the soup part, LOL

I thought they looked like pierogies, but I think those are Polish (according to my ex butthead they are, anywho).

Gawd, I love pierogies!

Mark Klaas basically said he thought it was odd that it was just being named a criminal investigation-I think he meant since LE can't do certain things until it is named a criminal matter, but of course the music started playing and he was cut off.

Also not sure why Clint Van Zandt and others are any more reliable, when speaking on cases that they have nothing whatsoever to do with. Personally I do not listen to any former LE personnel who go on TV to act as paid consultants for news stations or news-entertainment shows. I know they have similar experiences from past cases, but they are not involved in the cases in which they so freely (not not freely $) offer their opinions. Mark K. is very passionate about how the start of investigations into missing children are handled for his own personal reasons and he never wavers from them to suit an individual case. JMO
