Superintendent - Tomorrow a crisis response team Monday and Tuesday... school psychologists from several school. 2 school resource officers for security. Mandating the use of automated attendance call system. 37 out of 57 elementary schools already use it. Requiring that everyone uses that now... it will probably take a week and in the meantime personal calls will be made. Staff, contractors and volunteers display ID badges. Anyone not cooperating will be asked to leave. Counseling hot line in place Monday morning.

It's sad how often reform takes place in just this way. After an incident. When it's too late for one or more people.

I believe a reporter asked since the SAR or whatever team was there does this mean they think this was an abduction and the le officer said no.

Yeah. He said he would not call it a kidnapping, yet. But the way he said no was pretty solid, wasnt it?

He said that they will be putting all the info together after the interviews today at six o'clock. I don't know if there will be another presser today, but I'll post if there is.

Even if alot of parents are there for such an event, you just never know.No cameras, rural area, people feel comfortable,no matter where you live, how well you know people, you should never let your guard down. Most people don't keep up with missing children's cases, and believe things can never happen to them.

If it's not a kidnapping and they have not located him, then what the he!! is it? If he wandered off, he likely would have been found by now. Or dogs would have tracked his scent. I just don't understand how they can say it is not a kidnapping...I think they know more than they are leading on!

I also wonder if the step brother and his father are back from their camping trip yet? And where is his bio-mom? I know she is said to be in the area, but has that been confirmed?

Last seen near south entrance door.

Geesh, plus school workers, grounds, kitchen, maintenance, interviews alone take so long.I think if it was an older child,he would have been found already.People had to be coming and going in parking lot, what an opportunity for a child abductor,if that is the case.

Also I think he said they've narrowed the search to specific areas

I'm just not sure if he meant physical, geographical areas... or areas as in areas of focus... abduction vs wandering. Family vs stranger. 8am vs 9am. I don't know if he actually meant a location itself. I heard him say that they have narrowed their focus. I didn't hear that the actual geographical search area had been narrowed. But I did miss some of what he said.

If they have narrowed WHERE they are looking I would love to know WHY they have done so.

Ok I gave myself a short time out, but can't help myself now. After watching that PC, either the sheriff should have made it clear that they asked the parents not to speak, which is not what the sheriffs office said.

Or they said it right and the parents are too traumatized to speak? All I have to say to that is, to traumatized to speak but not to traumatized to keep posting on facebook? What is really important here?

The sheriff also seemed a little too sure when asked if things are pointing towards a kidnapping.

One article said mother sees him every two weeks and came there when she found out what happened. The older son is the stepmom's and he doesn't live with her,I think the grandparents, the article said.

I wondered why he didn't live with her.I need to go reread that, will change if that's not what it meant.

I was just thinking the same thing, his no when asked about kidnapping, came across almost too solid.

Everything the school does right now has to be centered around giving these young children a sense of safety. Children have plenty of their own fears and to become afraid of their environment in school, the teachers, the staff, would be a tragedy for so many. Those fears could last a life-time not only for the children, but for the parents.

We here on WS can't make sense of what has taken place, can you imagine a 6yo trying to make sense of the senseless?

Of course they don't want parents talking and discussing their fears, speculations, and throwing out accusations - the children are at the end of all that. Thank goodness the school is making immediate changes and trying to hold down speculation, it's for the good of everybody. Keep the little ones in mind when trying to figure out what's being done - they are really what matter right now. Kyron has been missing since Friday am - and continues to be missing and is probably dead. Just think of what the little ones have ahead of them. My heart goes out to each and every child who has to live through this tragedy. moo

I really don't think that the sheriff has asked the parents not to speak. If he did, then the parents blew that to pieces when they sent Carol Moulton to speak to the press. I'm sure that the story she told was 100% the stepmom's story. What I didn't like about it is that she passive-aggressively slammed Kyron AND his mom in that article.

I think the south entrance is the front - it faces the garden and then the road and there is no parking lot there. And the playground, if I'm not mistaken. Did he go out to play after SM left?

Sorry if this has been posted, haven't read back, because this has been moving pretty fast...

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/day_three_search_continues_hun.html

Kelley, who lives about a mile and a half down hill, at the end of a winding, secluded country lane off Cornelius Pass, said police, federal agents, K-9 teams and helicopters scoured the area Saturday.

"We had two odd sightings of a vehicle on our road Friday," Kelley said. Around 3 p.m., he and a neighbor reported seeing a white pick-up truck with a female driver pull to the end of the long road, idle and then turn around. Then again at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, a similar white pickup truck appeared, idled and when a neighbor loosed her dogs, eased away.

"A, it was strange to have a car there, any car there, that we didn't know, and B, it was strange to have a vehicle come down our dead-end road twice in the same day, hours after a little boy goes missing," said Kelley. "That's beyond rare."

Can someone send me stepmoms fb page please? TIA

You mean Kryon's dad?? Isn't Kyron's father's FB display picture the missing flyer? Makes me think he is back from camping - IF that's who you mean.

Or you mean the step-bro's dad?

:waitasec:

Sorry, going to re-read and see if I can't put it together.

Yesterday they had a press conference at 4pm and 8pm.

Today they had one shortly before 4pm. I would imagine they will have another tonight after 8pm. It might be later so they have time to debrief... but I would guess there will be another one by 9pm.

Am I the only one that thinks the school has been terrible at handling this from pretty much every aspect? (The security, or..lack there of, being the biggest)

Step brother has a different Dad... Terri's son from a previous relationship. Kyron and his baby sister share the same Dad who Kyron's step mother Terri is currently married to.
