I feel like maybe be need to lay out the facts(even though there are very little) and maybe a who's who.

Is it ok to mention names of adults talked about in the media, i.e Kyron's teachers name, parents names, step parents, grandparents? I am asking if it is ok to name them to help with the confusion of who is who. And also to help with the timeline

To my way of thinking, how could they hold regular and normal classes when the school is still the last place Kyron was seen? There may still be evidence there. They may need to search the school and buildings again. He may not have even left the school and could be in the drop down ceiling or the boiler room or somewhere. Doesn't that make it a "crime scene"?

  • #303
I read somewhere they have advised people showing up at the command center asking if they needed more people searching, to hold off.

Does anyone recall a case in which a child was abducted from inside a school by a total and complete stranger who walked in? Ever?

Amber D. was within just a few feet of her school, Summer T was very close to her school.......this would be just a very small bit bolder for someone to try, and it is quite possible that Kyron may have gone outside of the school onto the playground or parking area for some reason.

It could be, but I have a feeling LE feels very strongly that Kyron is not in that building. I don't know why, but I have that deep down gut feeling that he isn't there. Not that my gut feeling means a thing.

Multnomah County sheriff Dan Staton said Kyron was last seen by a fellow student near his classroom by the south entrance of the school in the late morning hours of Friday.

Kyron and his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, attended a school science fair that morning and she watched him walk to his classroom at about 8:45 a.m, deputies said.

Just caught this. Late morning hours? That indicates 10:00 or 11:00 to me, definitely not 8:45-9:00. Interesting...

That is why I thought it odd. If anywhere would hold a press conference in a church, I would think it would be Utah...and I don't even recall Utah doing it.

But, it's in a church... must be the closest available building that can fit everyone or something.

The church is right across the street from the school. I suppose they could have held it at the school, but it is a potential crime scene and it wouldn't make sense to have all those reporters tramping about.

It was nice of the church to open its doors for this purpose. This is a rural area and not a lot of other options close by.

I heard him say "late morning," too. Right about that time distractions started happening here, so I thought maybe I'd misunderstood.

This is probably off the wall, but his science project was a tree frog and I'm wondering if he discussed his project with anyone.Could he have went to look for tree frogs and someone took him?Or maybe an adult used it as an opportunity to get him to go with them telling him something like that.It seems it would have to be someone he knew.Unless there was a back way out and people couldn't see if he was struggling,he probably went with someone without a fight. This is if it's not a family member involved.

I just found this thread - I was on the "other" one wondering where the heck everybody was! Don't know if this is old news but I thought it was interesting that the spotcrime.com lists a police response on 5/27/2010 (Thursday) at 9:39/9:40 a.m. to an "incident" at the school. Sorry, don't know how to resize the screen-shot I took without blowing the margins here but to see it better you can go to this link; http://www.katu.com/crime and enter the school's address for yourself: 11536 Northwest Skyline Boulevard, Portland, OR

Here's a page about a Dr. Phil show highlighting kids who have been abducted from their schools.

Yes...but 300 kids tramping about tomorrow makes a lot of sense??? I am totally confused.

That's what I thought about the reporters, until they verified there WILL be school tomorrow. Now it just seems the church was simply more open, less furniture and things to move. But definitely not an evidence issue with having it at the school...they have already given the reporters a tour of the school if you remember.... yesterday I believe?

[snipped...]The stepmother said she last saw Kyron at about 8:45 a.m. walking down the hallway toward his classroom, according to a sheriff's office news release.

It was not clear, however, whether Kyron, like every other student in the school, then participated in a classroom-to-classroom inspection of other science projects.

Parent-led groups of about four students walked among the classrooms, said Gina Zimmerman, president of the Skyline PTA.

"You were supposed to stay with your group," Zimmerman said. "I don't know what group he was in."

However, the sheriff's office news release says school staff did not see Kyron after 8:45 a.m. and that he did not make it to his classroom.

Terri Horman called 9-1-1 about 3:45 p.m. Friday to report Kyron missing after he failed to return home at his usual time on the school bus.

Zimmerman could not believe Kyron would have just walked off the school grounds on his own.

"He's not the type of child who would just go out of school and go wandering around," said Zimmerman, whose 8-year-old daughter, Madi, is in Kyron's class and has known the boy for three years.

"He's just a timid, sweet boy."

Also, I think they are interviewing the parents/children and ppl that were at the school Friday, AT the school all day today..so I don't see them having a press conference there..

OK, that's just aggravating. Not you, October, the "late morning hours." What is considered "late morning" in Oregon?

Around here, early morning is about 4:30-8:00. Mid-morning maybe 8:00-10:00. And late morning 10:00-11:30 or so. Then it's "just before noon."

10:00 is when classes started. So was Kyron there then, just outside his classroom at the south entrance? Why didn't he go in with the rest of them?

I read somewhere they have advised people showing up at the command center asking if they needed more people searching, to hold off.

I believe that from the beginning they did not want volunteer searchers. Only trained search and rescue, police officer, people like that. They were asking citizens to search their own property but did not want volunteers to help THEM search.

If they start turning away other law enforcement or search and rescue help, that is a concern. But I have only seen citizens saying they were turned away. The guy on Terri's facebook, I am unsure if he is trained or not. :waitasec:

We're going to run as normal of a day as possible," he said.
Superintendent Carole Smith would not comment on the specific details of the timeline from Friday. Deputies have said Kyron's absence went unnoticed.

Are they kidding? I can guarantee you my children would be starting summer break early.
