If they know who has him, I don't think looking in quarries or woods is a good sign.

Off Topic:
I think we should have a support group in the basement for spouses of us sleuthers who don't understand why we do what we do and can't just STOP.

And children! I have stock in Totinos Frozen Pizzas!!

(j/k...I'm putting a lasagna in the oven now.)

Interesting article...

Local Law Enforecment Ready to Help Find Missing Boy
June 8, 2010

The search for Kyron Horman, 7, has expanded greatly over the past few days. So much so, that local law enforcement is at the ready to help find the boy.

Law enforcement agencies throughout the northwest are being extra vigilant. With each passing moment they say this boy could be further and further from where he was last seen five days ago.

Just about every department in the region has been informed about this missing persons case. Eugene and Springfield Police say there is no specific information that the child is in our area. Even so, the latest details on the case are given to local officers in their daily briefing before they hit the streets, should a break in the case occur close to home.

"The more eyes looking, the more people looking is always a benefit. A lot of cases are solved by citizens who recognize somebody or something and call us so the more people involved the better," said Sergeant Tom Borchers, Springfield Police Department.

Sounds like they do have NEW INFO we haven't learned of yet, eh? Evidently it would hinder the investigation if they let it out to the public.

The poor principal. He/She is probably traumatized by what has happened and emotional and so could easily blurt out something they don't want out there. On the other hand, how could a principal run a lower school and let the whole day go by without calling the parents to see why the child isn't in school. Flipping amazing that is, especially when he had a project in the Science Fair !!!

ETA: Forgot to say Hi Jules ;}

Hi scandi!! Nice to see you. ;-)

Non-Family Child Abductions

It’s a fearsome thought: a child snatched by a stranger. Who investigates these crimes? We do. It’s our job to handle cases of child abductions.

In 1932, Congress gave the FBI jurisdiction under the “Lindbergh Law” to immediately investigate any reported mysterious disappearance or kidnapping involving a child of “tender age”—usually 12 or younger. And just to be clear, before we get involved there does NOT have to be a ransom demand and the child does NOT have to cross state lines or be missing for 24 hours.

Introducing the CARD Teams

Child abductions by strangers are often complex and high-profile cases. And time is of the essence.

That’s why we’ve added another tool in our Crimes Against Children program that helps our local field offices in these cases: our Child Abduction Rapid Deployment, or CARD, teams.

From the FBI website.
Thanks for that RubyRed, I used to have the breakdown of statistics on Missing Children ~ can't find it now. But I think it is less than 1% of all Missing Children who are taken by a stranger.

If you or anyone else has that tucked away it would be great to read again to refresh this old brain  Ta

I really don't think that a ransom note or call is involved. I don't think LE would let Terri go to the gym if it were that kind of situation, especially because she posted about it on her FB and people would know where she was going to be. I also don't think that LE would send SAR into those horrific brambles and brush if they knew that it was a ransom situation.

I'm not sure what to make of a lot of this. It is possible the fb is being used to throw someone off. Anything is possible. Of course, there are always those crazies out there that will call in false leads or a ransom when they really had nothing to do w/ the case at all.

Good idea on the frozen food. I will have to do that because DH is definitely not in a good mood because his tummy was rumbling!

Lol...Im in E. Oregon, but was thinking central O. is where Im at...but it makes sense why some would think of Mt. Hoods and Dalles area as central, I can see that. I also understand Madras, which, yes, is very small...well, the dalles isnt that big either.

O/T
Most people, imo, who live in the W. Valley, think E. Oregon when they think of pretty much any town in E. Oregon, even when they think of the Bend/Redmend area, which is not too far from Madras, which would be Central Or, imo. E. Oregon is not very populated at all, which is why I wondered why he would specify that area, rather than an area where people might know him, which would be S. Oregon, and the Northwest region. In mo, I would have expected him to specify the Seaside/Astoria area if any at all. So to my mind, Central Oregon is a possible clue, as to where they think whomever might have taken Kyron, is from, or has ties to it, in some way.
Because the act of taking him on school property, even inside the school is very brazen, especially it being such a small school, my mind jumped to a repeat offender, I'm sorry to say, from the beginning.

Hi...just catching up.....so they still havent found him.......yikes.....

After reading the last posts re press releases etc I have a huge feeling that the police know alot more about this case than they are letting on.....(duh normally the way)

There is something going on here.....

I think the principal saying "criminal investigation" was not a mistake as the police man stopped the whole conversation abruptly.....I think the principal said too much....

and then the police speaker said he hoped to have it wrapped up by the end of the week!!

there is something going on behind the scenes here.....either he has been taken by someone he knows who is hiding him or her has maybe been kidnapped for ransom.....

That "wrapped up by the end of the week" says it all to me....you dont say that if you are looking for a child who may have fallen down a well or slipped into a river etc do you???

he said "case".....

something very odd is going on,.

If they know who has him, I don't think looking in quarries or woods is a good sign.

Not necessarily. As we have seen in past cases, if Kyron has been abducted, the suspect could be camped out in the forest w/ Kyron.

I for one am gobsmacked. They believe they will have it wrapped up by the end of the week?? Then they know who took him.

Hi Revampz, On local Channel 6 the reporter said they quizzed the Sheriff today about whether they think a predator could have taken Kyron and whether it is now a criminal investigation. He said they got a big NO on both questions.

That doesn't mean anything really as it is need to know for public consumption. Remember last night they were hopefully waiting for the right tip to be called in that would hopefully lead them to Kyle. That is pretty exact in what the Sheriff said last night. xox

I for one am gobsmacked. They believe they will have it wrapped up by the end of the week?? Then they know who took him.

I think they do too, someone who fits the profile, had opportunity as he was seen or photographed at the school at the right time and had the means to wisk him away quickly and silently from the school bldg to the parking lot.

If that is the case it must be someone who Kyron knew or knew who they were - a friends father or brother for instance.

Did we learn who helped Kyron with his Science Fair exhibit? Hmmmmm

I have a question regarding the use of the soccer picture...for some reason it really stands out to me more than the other 2 pictures. Do people typically use sports pictures for missing children? I honestly have not followed many cases so I don't know. But my first impression when seeing this was, non (total) stranger abduction, like don't forget Kryon loves soccer and will really miss playing. I don't really know if that is a favorite sport of his but maybe the use of this picture has some meaning behind it? Just curious.

Here is the thing. If Kyron happened to wander off no one would have any tips that could bring him back. If any one saw him wander off they would have said so by now. So, to me, if they are asking for tips that must mean they think someone knows something. I wish we knew what they knew.
