After watching the PC I think LE stepped in so the questioning of the Principal would stop. They probably just erred on the side of caution. jmo

Hi Revampz, On local Channel 6 the reporter said they quizzed the Sheriff today about whether they think a predator could have taken Kyron and whether it is now a criminal investigation. He said they got a big NO on both questions.

That doesn't mean anything really as it is need to know for public consumption. Remember last night they were hopefully waiting for the right tip to be called in that would hopefully lead them to Kyle. That is pretty exact in what the Sheriff said last night. xox

bbm. So a young boy is missing. A predator did not take him. There has been no crime. What does that leave? He wandered off somewhere. Or he went voluntarily with someone who can legally take him.

Can anyone else think of a scenario in which a predator did not take him and no crime has been committed?

I am hopeful that if the Sheriff said that they hope to have it wrapped up soon, that they really do know who it is. I don't think they would make such a bold statement if they didn't believe it.

I think if they don't have it solved soon, the public would lose confidence in them from such a bold statement. So, I don't think they would say it if they didn't believe it.

Channel 6 News: No evidence a crime has been committed so it is not a criminal investigation. It is a local investigation only, has not gone national. Child Seek Network has opened up a reward fund. Channel 6 put $100 in the account.

We hope to have this "wrapped up" together with the "we have someone with the family 24/7" makes me agree that they know exactly what happened but don't want to jeopardize anything. Has it been mentioned whether or not Kyron had a babysitter? Not so certain someone would demand ransom with all the media attention that occurred almost immediately. This is a really interesting case. I just hope little Kyron is found safe, he is such a doll.

I think they just don't have evidence a crime has been committed. They infer it could be an isolated incident, like he fell somewhere. I know back in those woods behind the school there are cliff drop-offs of 300'. They showed a map on the news last night. Lots of canyons that snake thru those wooded areas. Sounds familial or by a friend to me unless Kyron was looking for a frog pond and slipped and fell, now covered with undergrowth. xox

PS: Did we ever learn what the incident was at school the previous week when the Sheriff was called?

I have a question regarding the use of the soccer picture...for some reason it really stands out to me more than the other 2 pictures. Do people typically use sports pictures for missing children? I honestly have not followed many cases so I don't know. But my first impression when seeing this was, non (total) stranger abduction, like don't forget Kryon loves soccer and will really miss playing. I don't really know if that is a favorite sport of his but maybe the use of this picture has some meaning behind it? Just curious.

I for one like to see a full body photo. The head shot don't really show a lot. But a full body shot can show more of his build and the way he stands.

The soccer picture could be a more recent picture. JMO

Bizarre. So he wandered off? There is no one who could legally take him that wouldn't be in HUGE trouble for doing something like this.

I can't believe that SM would go to the gym if he just wandered off. I would think that they would be a wreck and want to help. (Not that they are allowed to) And not that they shouldn't be a wreck if he was abducted.

I'm not exactly sure how to say what I am thinking here, so I'll quit trying.

iirc, from the school website, soccer is one of those after school programs that has volunteers, not that that means anything.

Here's the website for their soccer club. first thru fifth grade.

ETA; the link above led me to another interesting link;

http://www.portlandyouthsoccer.com/frameset.php

In their rules and regs, there's this;

H.
Background Checks: All rostered PYSA coaches and assistant coaches must submit a PYSA

Disclosure Statement authorizing a background check. Consistent with statute and regulations,
PYSA will administer background checks and results in a manner which will protect the

confidentiality of coaches and parents. PYSA shall set forth the criteria disqualifying a coach

and this;

E.

Coach Responsibility: At all practices and games, the managing coach shall be responsible for the

immediate behavior of his/her players, parents and affiliated spectators. It is PYSA policy that

there be a minimum of two adults, age 21 or greater, present at any PYSA activity.

I agree. I think they are working to pursuade a certain person to tell them where the person took Kyron and where he is now. In the meantime, they are hoping the public saw something that will lead the police to Kyron since the individual in question will not tell them where Kyron is.

I think that is what the FBI CARD team and behaviorists are doing there. They are experts in children.

I remember in Somer's case that LE was with the family 24/7 too.

They may not have "proof". I am sure they have suspicion and evidently some good leads and tips. Someone posted a little while ago that if he had simply wondered off there would not be tips. I agree w/ that.

On the scanner thread it said that he might have ADHD. One of the things with children who have ADHD is that they are impulsive and take risks. Like jumping off of things that are too high, for example. He might take meds for ADHD. That is perhaps why he is short because some ADHD meds do inhibit growth.

I hope this is not a forbidden topic. But maybe they have info that leads them to think that he would do something like this.

I hope that is all this is-him wandering and then finding him. Maybe he's hiding because he thinks he'll be in big trouble. But with all that rain, he would be getting mighty cold.

If Kyron just "wandered off" why does Gates admit that based on tips they are searching specific areas OUTSIDE the geographic location of the school, but not outside the state? How does a child "wander" that far to other specific locations and who would have provided the tips?

Maybe a soccer coach?

Something I have noticed is they say another student saw Kyron around 9:00 by a certain door. What no one has said is whether Kyron was with somebody else. Perhaps she saw him talking or leaving with a specific person. That could be why they think it will be wrapped up by the end of the week. Maybe they have a good idea who he was with and where they might have gone.

Social media spreads word about Kyron

Social media is having a growing impact on the breadth of the public effort to spread the word about missing boy Kyron Horman and his family was also using it as a way to keep in touch with relatives and friends.
Kyron’s step-mom, Terri Moulton Horman, has been reaching out for help on Facebook by posting ongoing comments since his disappearance last Friday.

I think so, too.

I too wondered about ADHD and meds which like you say can slow growth. My 2nd grader is I think 52# and just under 52 inches. There are kids bigger than him, as well as kids smaller than him.
