OR - Kyron Horman, 7 yo Second grader, Portland, 4 June 2010 - Part #6

I know this has been hashed and rehashed over and over again - but... if Kyron was there in the morning and his teacher saw him (which she did) and then he was not there when they were to get into groups at 8:45 AM or not there at 10 AM when the science fair ended and they were to return to class - there has to be a VERY GOOD REASON the teacher did not find that odd and wonder where he was. I, for the life of me, cannot imagine seeing my student in class before the bell, and not being alarmed that he was never in class again.

Would ANY teacher on this board think it was ok that he was there before class and then gone? Would any teacher make the assumption that he must have gone home with his stepmom? I am seriously asking this question. If it were me, and the student was there, and then gone - I would very VERY alarmed - unless I was told he would not be there for the rest of the day.

I have had children in Oregon schools and now Washington State schools. We have never had to sign in when there is an event like a science fair, field day, awards assembly, etc. There are tons of family members coming and going every time. I know some of the parents/family members have criminal backgrounds (criminals have families too.) Not everyone exits these programs via a main entrance door either. They leave through various exits and I couldn't count the times I have held or I have seen others hold the door for someone that was entering through a "non-main entrance."
With that in mind, I could see someone hanging around and seeing Kyron through the door and getting him to open it. Or being let in by someone that exited through the door. It happens all the time here.
Then there is the fact that a school employee let a homeless guy in because he said he was a coach and had to check the locker rooms out. So this guy got in the school, his photo caught by cameras (thank God), is seen around the schools a day or so later and causes all schools to be in lockdown. This scared the heck out of my youngest child! This is in Washington State and we have a sign in and background check policies in place. So things do happen and that's what scares me about Kyron. It only takes a second for a perp to take control. I really wish Kyron would come home safe.

FBI brings in more tools in search for Kyron Horman

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is bringing more tools to help in the search for missing Portland 7-year-old Kyron Horman.
The FBI is adding a mobile command center to the search effort Wednesday, with hopes that it will help searchers. Meantime, the search crews themselves are doing everything they can to stay focused and positive.
"It's always frustrating when we're not finding anything, especially when we have such high hopes. But we're going to keep on until something happens," one searcher told KGW.

Capt. Jason Gates, the main spokesperson for the investigation, said there was no set ending for the search effort. He declined to say how many more clues investigators have received but said "we haven't received enough tips to solve the case. Keep those tips coming.

Kimster, I loved your idea of changing your avitar to a red eyed tree frog so I copied you! Hope you don't mind.

***O/T - I am so scared of frogs, when I was looking for an image to use, I kept getting chills and a little anxiety. lol
But, such a little gesture to show my support.

Hope you are home soon buddy!

Those frogs are really little and cute. :) Good for you!

PLEASE feel free to make frogs in your avatars! It's all about KYRON!

OK, I just got on today and haven't had a chance to read through everything I've missed, but I did notice this breaking news story on the KATU website:

http://www.katu.com/news/local/95973029.html

Apparently, there was an attempted abduction in St. Helens, OR (20 miles away)yesterday of a fifth grade boy.

Maybe you've all already seen this and I'm late to the party...

OMG! Somehow I have missed this! Have they found this man? Could there be a connection?

They have no one in custody, but they have a good description:

"An adult also witnessed the incident and described the suspect as white, 35 to 40 years old, heavyset, with a 3 to 4-inch long ponytail and a large forehead. He was wearing blue coveralls with dirt of grease on them."

No description of a vehicle.

I think it could definitely be related. Both young boys, 20 miles apart...worht looking into at least, right?

I just read that too! Here's the description of the perp;

Wow Im shocked people right in the area haven't heard. I understand why no Amber Alert. Wish there could of been some other alert. Why not still use the large amber alert signs for just missing children that just happen. Maybe a kid did could wonder a few miles and someone could see that child and recognize them from the board. Flash there pic on the highway. I don't know what to say. How do people not hear about these things.

Maybe as suggested - they will create a "KYRON ALERT"....

FOR these special cases.

ok,Thank you.On what road?

The road is called Quarry Road; you can see it, and the quarry, at the first road to the East of the school as you follow Skyline Blvd. Quarry Road intersects only to the south of Skyline Blvd.

Thanks for helping! :blowkiss: We aren't raining here south of Salem right now, but it sure has been off and on! When will summer start? This is nuts!

It's thundery up here in town also; dodged the raindrops on our walk this morning though. Summer, come please! It's June 9th already!

Hi Jules. Thanks so much for this :) :blowkiss:

Hi Jules. You might consider adding

- that stepmom saw him in the hallway 150 feet from his classroom, that he waved good-bye, and that he said he was going to his classroom

- that TP saw him in the hallway, and that TP didn't mention seeing the stepmom

I think the hallway, and whether or not TP saw the stepmom (and where, e.g., was she walking with Kyron toward his classroom? was she turned away and walking to an exit?) is probably important in figuring out the sequence of events.

I posted the links for this info a little earlier. I'd be happy to pull them up again if you do want to add any of this.

Also may want to clarify that the south entrance info came from the references to the 'late morning' sighting by a student, which may or may not be the TP sighting, or the 9am sighting.

Thank you again!
BeanE

Thanks BeanE - I will add your suggestions.

As much as I think and think about this case, I just don't know what to think about this case. I have racked my brain over and over again. Nothing makes sense.
Children do not just vanish in thin air.

I'm still thinking someone snatched him. I think it was someone he had seen before and did not consider a stranger.

I wish we had more answers.

Maybe. But they said they thought Kyrons disappearance was an isolated incident. What did they mean by that?
