Well, here's an odd question, but are the searchers calling out his name or just searching for items?

IIRC I saw a video where they were calling his name.
and this statement
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday also issued a temporary no-fly zone for all aircraft in a three-mile radius of the school and up to 3,000 feet.

LOL! OK! :) Now, what an odd hour is that, don't you think? Was this 2 AM, as in 2:00 a.m. the morning he disappeared later that same morning (pre-disappearance), or as in 2:00 a.m., the following morning of his disappearance? (post-disappearance) How far away from the school is this secluded spot? Does anyone know?

It's 2a Sat=post-disappearance..I believe it's somewhat close to his home which I also believe is about 3 miles from school..I just did a post (last page now?) re: this issue if you'd like to take a peek.

From what I read in the CNN article I posted this morning, my belief is that no crime, just wandering away, is LE's #1 working theory. However, I also know that LE works all the possibilities, and I think they are likely looking at a school employee abduction/crime as their secondary theory.

It's extremely rare for LE to lie to the public, because it erodes public confidence, and they are very careful not to do that. The public needs to trust LE, and LE needs the public to trust them. I trust LE. I don't think they lie to the public.

I've learned to look at everything they say, such as in this case, where along with saying they see no evidence of a crime, they say they are working all the possibilities.
I agree, but if the circumstances are such that they must be less than completely truthful (or just flat out lie) in order to keep Kyron safe and increase the chances he's found alive, they'll do so and I think the public would understand and support their decision.

In the country I live in people are assumed innocent until proven otherwise. I didn't think that changed for missing person cases. While I agree that LO will look to immediate circle of family/friends first, it is still up to the law to produce evidence to take a person to court.

We need to remind ourselves that LE has been extremely tight-lipped about this case. We have no proof/information that the family (may well have) did just that, due to LE's silence thus far. Until then, speculation can become a very slippery slope, indeed!

My son has field day at his school coming up and I was asked to volunteer since I have "been cleared to do so". I was happy the teacher mentioned that I had already been cleared to do so. I filled out a volunteer form at the beginning of the year and had to come in and give them my driver's license at one point this year and I think they ran a background check. I am happy to know they are not just asking any parent to volunteer. I am going to take a close look at how the event goes and see what types of improvements could be made to make sure students stay safe and this type of thing doesn't happen. Our school is backed by woods on two sides and that always freaks me out.

Ugh. My school will take any parent as a volunteer. I've never had to undergo a background check and have attended field trips with my kids. Lord knows they wouldn't find anything on me (maybe one parking ticket  )
but who knows about the other parents. I'm not even certain that teachers have to undergo background checks. I have never heard from any parent around here from any school have to undergo a background check. I live in Canada....maybe it's not done here? Has got me wondering now....

Can I ask a quick question? There is so much to read here! Where did the dogs track Kyron's scent to? Thanks all. Hurry home, Kyron!

I'm just sayin'...we all are going crazy because LE won't talk...and when they do, saying they do not believe it was an abduction, many don't believe them anyway. So they are kind of damned if they do, as well...

"I'm not going to put a time when we're going to scale down," Gates said. "The longer it goes, the more critical it becomes."

If Kyron wandered away, they have more than reached the critical point.

Maybe I missed something but where is kyrons birth mother, do we know if LE spoke with her? Id like to think she spoke out even if kyron isn't in her care. Its kinda bothering me,,,, its so sad, I type this as my baby boy lays asleep in peace in my arms, and poor kyron is just gone? Maybe the father hasn't spoke out because he fell apart. I know I would....

Does anyone have a picture of his project? What did she bring the project in that morning?

I'm going to get some coffee and a cranberry muffin. Fresh baked. I have a wonderful hubby - he bakes :)

I appreciate this little snippet in the midst of these heady circumstances. Being accustomed to males in the kitchen—tough guys with teddy bear hearts—I actually find it incongruent to encounter men who don't cook and/or bake.

Had a boss once who, in the early days of her marriage, set her entire kitchen on fire. Her husband never encouraged her to cook again, and other than a few batches of cookies at Christmas, she complied. Clever ploy? She always denied it (with a secret little laugh as she walked away).

Enjoy your muffin! Cranberry, made with love—gotta be scrumptious.

I would hate to imagine a registered sex offender parent volunteering to watch my kiddo on a field trip. Scary.

Brilliant woman! (wondering if that would work for me):waitasec:

Been having a lot of "what ifs" running through my ind this morning. I'll share (please keep in mind I'm using some of the rumors - so scenerios could be based on any unsubstantiated rumors):

WHAT IF - Kyron was supposed to be in the talent show and he was shy, had stage fright and his parents thought it would be a good way for him to "overcome" this and pretty much told him - you're gonna do it. I would like to think either SM or Dad would have promised to be there - but who knows. There could have been a "discussion" about this again that morning with SM - which he didn't get very far with - so he decided to "take matters into his own hands" and "go off / hide" for the day to get outta it.

WHAT IF Kyron did have a cell? Maybe that's why we're not hearing the 911 call. Maybe SM or Dad (whoever called 911) gives some very interesting info on that call. Kinda like "I/We called his cell and he answered and said he isn't coming home because of thus and so...." or "I/We called his cell and someone else answered it!" Or "Yes, he has a cell - we've called and just get voice mail - or it just rings and rings"

WHAT IF Dad (or SM) have made one (or more) enemies - due to no fault of their own. Like a stalker or someone with a grudge. Maybe someone Dad just had to fire. And possibly THAT info was given on the 911 call.

WHAT IF when Kyron's cell was called - he answered and said he was at a friend's house - or clubhouse - or just with a certain friend. Then LE checks out this friend and there is no way Kyron could have ever been with this friend.

Ok - blast away. I hate these "WHAT IF" days................................ :(

Kyron's Mother is there.

Oooohhhh is it too late after 15 years of marriage to try this? I'm not sure my hubby knows where the kitchen is much less how to actually cook or gasp! bake.

As they look for Kyron they said they are trying to think like a second grader and asked themselves where he might go and what he might do.
<snipped>

These are interesting search parameters. They are not thinking like an adult/abductor/killer. At least not this group of searchers.

Could explain searching the attics, barns, etc. A child might be lost in a darkening night and huddle in an abandoned building. lol. That had me so puzzled yesterday - I clearly was not thinking like a 2nd grader or something.

Why does a lack of candle-light vigil seem strange? Not disagreeing...just wondering. I think if my child was missing the last thing on my mind would be a candle-light vigil. I understand it's to bring awareness but I think at this point everyone in the community is very aware of what's going on.

Is there another reason to hold one?

These vigils have become quite common for missing children..The family doesn't always attend & I don't believe it's to bring awareness as much as it is to get together as a community & pray for the child's SAFE return.

eta..I wouldn't in the least think it's "odd" if I haven't seen so many of these vigils (reported by local news) in almost all the other recent cases I've followed here on WS.
