GUILTY OR - Latia Harris charged in beating caught on video, Salem, 2014

  • #61
exactly......and that's why I would sincerely hope that this assault victim gets an order of protection.....she does want it to be over!!

When I referred to this whole incident originally it seemed to be ''street fighting''.....and that' s uncool anytime....

This is right up there with hair trigger tempers we all face daily with road rage etc. Hard to tease out all of the details of who did what first.

The bystanders not doing a damned thing is totally unacceptable.

The brutal assault and the horror that little fella faced unforgivable.

No one calling 911 unforgivable

Stirring up trouble for a coworker not cool either and at this point seems ''light'' to all of us but seems to be a contributing factor of the root cause for this senseless beating as per the victim's own statement.

I was reluctant to post when I first heard of this nasty beating -- it's horrible.

I am paraphrasing here but here goes: be kind to each other kind words don't cost much and we are all fighting some kind of battle -- you just don't know what inner demons can be set off by unkind words.

An " order of protection" means nothing in the hood.
She needs real protection.

IMO

Brave brave little man. Heart breaking.

That said, this is an old fashioned a@s whoopin for trash talking.
Would people be reacting differently if it were 2 men?

Not condoning the violence, but saying that if you do something to threaten someone's livelihood, you better be ready for consequences.

Is that a serious question?

No, I wouldn't be reacting differently.

Thank you. Boys beat the heck out of each other and then shake it off.....interfere with a man's paycheck watch out brother.

If it were two men oh my wouldn't that have an impact on that young lad too?

An intelligent person would have foresaw the consequences of beating this woman. She feared losing her job? Really?
She sure wasn't afraid of going to prison was she?

Does a McDonalds restaurant have "Human Resources" on site? I ask because I'm truly curious.

I don't know what all bad blood has been happening between these two that caused this woman to feel compelled to beat this other one down, and what caused all the kids to stand there and do nothing whatsoever except film it. My guess is, this is just another day in all their lives.

Okay so - what are the odds she'll go to prison at the end of this? My guess is about zero. About zero odds she'll see the inside of a prison.

I agree she's lost the battle and the war by losing her cool.

The shock factor is that the fight was between 2 women.
The fact is that no one wants a little boy to be a witness to violence.
If his daddy was fighting another man wouldn't that send a message that it is ok/normal for men to fight -- no one wants that either.

It's a first step in the right direction in terms of making the complaint against her attacker. Taking back some of her power for the victim and setting some boundaries. Some would argue it isn't worth the paper it is printed on but nonetheless it creates a better paper trail. Neither one of these ladies (?) should have any contact with each other in the future.

with the order of protection, If the attacker returns call 911

What you witnessed in the video is the street justice version of "human resources".

Not condoning the violence, just infusing a little perspective. If you work as an ER nurse in an inner city, you most likely see it every night.

I would like to know more about the history of issues between these gals. While I doubt it will mitigate in my own mind I can't know til I have all the facts to weigh. If you happen upon any links about this history or about this rumor of affair with boss where someone aside from the idiot throwing punches and kicks I would appreciate seeing them.

Thanks, :)

We'll never get the truth about what happened between these two. It's like that old saying; there are two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

Exactly, when I called it the hood, I meant it. Lots of areas in Salem are really really bad.

Right.

I agree with you that's the way it should be handled.
I'm simply saying, it's an exercise in futility in reality.

Oh, wonderful, I see LH has two children. All this petty he said/she said bs goes out the door when you become a mother. Street justice my rear end. I have even less desire to hear LH's reasons why she would pound cake this woman.

You're a mother, LH, the time for petty street fights has been long over. You should have thought of your childrens' futures before you put your hands on this woman.

No excuse, none whatsoever.

Is LH still on the run ?

It wasn't a "fight." It was an assault. And, yes, it would still be an assault if the victim and attacker were men.

When I first saw the video my reaction was "nothing could justify this...nothing".

But yes, after reading more and thinking about it, threatening someone's livelihood out of pure pettiness can be dangerous especially if that individual has a family to support.

On a basic level it can be akin to threatening the individuals survival. If the assailant called the woman and basically asked her to retract the statements/stop the rumors and the woman persisted I could see how it could drive someone completely over the edge.

It shows that having children does not make people any more mature. Some people are not meant to be parents.
