From the description at the popular fundraising site:

Help Find Louie Selam

SBBM

As of March 31st, the Warm Springs Tribal Police have ceased their search, citing a lack of resources and no substantial evidence to move forward with the investigation of a missing elderly Tribal member. [snip] The search spans the Mt. Jefferson wilderness running from Shitike Creek to Warm Springs proper, a massive area in a harsh landscape. Our family will continue searching for our elderly father, husband, grandfather and friend. We hope to acquire the equipment (drones, camping equipment, water gear) needed to navigate our search safely.

▶️ Search continues for a Warm Springs man missing for nearly a month

April 19
It’s been nearly a month since Warm Springs man Lewis Selam went missing.

Law enforcement and search and rescue called off the search March 31, citing no substantial evidence to move forward with the investigation.

Selam’s car was located and hounds were able to pick up his scent, but Selam was not found.

“We’re not giving up. We are still going to continue to look for her father, her husband and my brother,” said Willie Selam.

Selam was last seen at Warm Springs Tribal Credit Enterprise in Warm Springs, Oregon on March 16, 2022. He has never been heard from again. A few days after his disappearance, his white 2005 Toyota Celica hatchback with the Oregon license plate number 30488375 was found locked and abandoned.

The vehicle was stuck in the snow near the intersection of the P500 and P200 roads on the Warm Springs Reservation, in an area known as Peter's Pasture near the base of Mount Jefferson. Inside the car was the hat Selam usually wore, and the groceries and dog food he purchased on the day of his disappearance.

It's uncharacteristic of Selam to leave without warning, and his family is baffled by his disappearance. He was well-known and well-liked in the community and worked at the Warm Springs Forest Products Mill. His case remains unsolved.

His car was found stuck in the snow days after his disappearance 20 miles west of Warm Springs at Peter’s Pasture near the base of Mount Jefferson. The car contained several personal items, including his hat which Selam is seldom seen without. K9 unit searches failed to locate Selam after dogs tracked the man’s scent on a trail into a rim rock area.

“Right now, all we wish for is some sort of answer,” [his wife] wrote in her May 5 Facebook post. “Ultimately, we hope to bring Louie home soon.

“Loss is inevitable for every human, but it feels unfair without any resolve,” she said.

<<Lewis was 71 years old when he was last seen at Warm Springs Tribal Credit Enterprise in Warm Springs, Oregon on March 16th, 2022. He has never been seen again. His white 2005 Toyota Celica hatchback was later found locked and abandoned in the snow near the intersection of P500 and P200 near the base of Mount Jefferson on the Warm Springs Reservation. Lewis' hat, groceries, and dog food he bought that day were all still inside. Scent tracking dogs followed Lewis' trail to rim rock area.

It is unusual for Lewis to remain out of contact with family for this long. He is well-known and well-liked in the community and an employee of Warm Springs Forest Products Mill. While Lewis was known to occasionally hike the Warm Springs Reservation, he typically did not go out after dark nor alone. Lewis remains missing.
