GUILTY OR - Mark Dribin, 42, Portland, 02 July 1999 *Christopher Charles Lovrien sentenced*

  • #781
Just spoke to Ken. He called me back, looks like it's 16 years he'll serve, not 14, and no chance of parole. Ken had to sign off on the deal. Looks like he was sentenced today, no victim impact statements, but Lovrien is going to remain at Multnomah County Jail for now since Griffin's trial will be coming up. In the event that I don't get the chance, I'd like to thank everyone here at Websleuths for their support of Mark from me and my family over the years. I plan to stay around to follow Griffin's trial.

The information that he's claiming that the article revealed, which was new to me is that he met Mark in an adult bookstore, claimed that he was high on meth, Mark brought him to his house, claimed that he fell asleep in Mark's bed, awoke to Mark making a pass at him, so he stabbed him to death with a kitchen knife.

Yeah right. Likely story.

I’m so glad it’s 16 years with no parole! And I’m glad Ken lived long enough to see some justice done for his son. Are you and Ken disappointed not to be able to give victim impact statements?

You represented Mark so well all these years @LinasK. I’ve really appreciated your dedication.

I just cruised back through the thread and noticed that Tulessa was such a presence early on. It’s sad that she didn’t live to see justice for Mark. :-(

I noticed one of your posts in May 2020 @LinasK hoping that it didn’t take another two years for the trial to take place. Almost four years, thanks to all the lawyer replacements you saw as a delaying tactic right away.

Unfortunately I can not access this article.... :(
Here is what I have in my notes per the posts here, as the article just gives me his sentence of "I've got Satan in me"...

Lovrien plead guilty to 1st degree manslaughter & revealed the place he's claiming to have buried Mark- Larch Mountain- is about 30 miles East of Portland. Judge Amy M. Baggio sentenced him to 20 years & no chance of parole. He will receive credit for time served & the possibility of time off for good behavior. Lovrien is going to remain at Multnomah County Jail for now since Griffin's trial will be coming up.

Am I missing anything??

and @LinasK ((((HUGS))))!!! FINALLY!! :)

And wanted to add - I have Lovrein back in court for a special jury panel summons hearing on 3/15/24 & trial beginning on 4/8/24 for the Griffin case.

Is that what it shows for the Griffin case still - @LinasK ?

From article above:
He was arrested in the killing in May 2020. Days later, prosecutors listening to the jailhouse phone heard Lovrien give a chilling instruction to his brother: Don’t look in the shed.

“There’s more to this than has been revealed and it’s bad,” Lovrien told his brother, according to a memo written by prosecutors. “I’ve got Satan in me.”

A defense attorney for Lovrien gave police permission to enter the locked shed on Southeast Foster Road and warned them to bring hazmat gear, the memo said. Inside, investigators found the body of Kenneth Griffin, 53, stored in three plastic bins.

Lovrien told a grand jury that he and Griffin were drinking when Lovrien kicked him out supposedly for trying to steal his credit cards, records show. Griffin snuck back in, Lovrien claimed, and broke his finger during a brawl.

Lovrien said he shot Griffin in the chest with a crossbow, reloaded and shot another arrow into his head, according to records describing the grand jury testimony. The records say Lovrien then hacked at Griffin’s head with an ax.

He has claimed self-defense in Griffin’s death
, fired his lawyer and is expected to face off against Chief Deputy District Attorney Kirsten Snowden during a murder trial set for April.

REALLY????
This is not a smart man. Even in his (cough probably fake cough) story, he says Griffin broke his finger so he KILLED HIM WITH A CROSSBOW. And that's self defense. Okay... sure... omg.

In the Dribin case, Lovrien pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and will receive credit for time served and the possibility of time off for good behavior. Still, Lovrien was in no mood for the sentencing hearing, demanding a pen to sign the paperwork, asking to skip over required procedural questions and despite apologizing also groused that he would have beaten the manslaughter charge if he had the money for a private attorney. “As far as the court is concerned I’m 100% in protest of this entire situation,” he said to the judge. “The court can go to hell.”

LOL i am surprised they let him plea after saying this. i... do not think i can say how i feel about this man on websleuths...

Lovrein creating stories where he is the victim which he uses to justify his actions is so gross. I am sure it is not lost on anyone here that this man would say anything, not necessarily the truth, to give himself a pass. I look forward to the next trial being over and him never breathing free air again.

And, I get just a bit of pleasure out of his temper tantrum words about needing a pen or not caring about the court. Petty words that he thinks has meaning to anyone while trying to gain some control where he will have none.

Thanks for posting the article @iusedtofloat. Lovrien is a really charming fellow. NOT! I’m so glad he’ll be off the streets, no doubt for the rest of his life. I wonder…has he killed anyone else?

I'm disappointed. I'd like to tell Lovrien what I think of him, but I get the impression that Ken is emotionally done with it. It's just too much for him.

Let me double-check the article. I thought that the sentencing judge was Heidi Moawad.

Portland Police Bureau has the same suspicions, but they haven't found anything else to charge him with yet. I think he got sloppier by the time he got to Griffin. The weird thing is that he thinks he can fight this one. I think having a body makes it a stronger case.

Yes, in my eyes it totally negates any remorse/sincerity he had in his plea.

I know Tulessa is smiling down.

All of the other dates remain on OJD, but this was added: 1705194307174.png

One more good tidbit- Ken told me that the prosecutor in Griffin's case can use Lovrien's conviction in Mark's death as evidence of a pattern. He's now a serial killer I guess by definition.
