Hi I’m wondering if the may19th hearing went as planned? Haven’t seen anything, I cannot figure out the court website, I’m so interested in this case.. it’s so frustrating no information is coming out, <modsnip - not an approved source>
Looks like 5/19/25 was a Status Check and an Order, whatever that is.

Thanks @Gemmie, @Rosydecember, & @LinasK.

I am thankful for any updates. It seems like this case has gone quiet but I know it's a long process too.

Sending strength to Melissa's loved ones.

Bryce is getting sued by a bank in a separate case
Could be from a car loan or other past financial issues. There was also a settlement conference on the 21st in the judges chambers with out a court reporter so it was totally confidential. Could the 2 separate cases be related to the crime such as monetary reward going to the victim's family or perhaps he will change his plea and have different charges which has happened before in murder cases in Oregon by having this conference. JMO

In Oregon, settlement conferences in murder cases, as in other criminal matters, are meetings held before a judge (who is not the trial judge) to explore potential resolutions like plea agreements. The process involves the defendant, their attorney, and a prosecutor, with the goal of reaching a resolution without a full trial. Victims also have the right to be present and may speak.

Thanks for this interesting information.

Not sure why, but from the day this man was arrested - and then further exacerbated by the slow process and almost nonexistent drip of information since then - I've had the sense that, whatever took place when MJ was murdered, it showed evidence of real depravity, obsession beyond the pale, excessive planning/stalking/laying in wait, and an utter indifference for human suffering. Psychopathology.

JMO. Perhaps a plea deal is the most practical resolution here, if only to spare all those who loved her.

Bryan K took a plea before trial because the evidence was there plus courts here in Oregon are trying to settle with pleas to be more cost efficient with cases that are slam dunks for a guilty verdict.

Most likely, that's for this trial. I wouldn't think the bank case settlement would be listed there in the same place.

Sorry I’m new to this and only really been following this case superficially. But are you guys saying that this lawsuit by the bank is tied to a plea deal? How? I’m not doubting, I’m just trying to connect the dots here for my learning.

No, that's a separate thing.

Trial for accused killer of nurse Melissa Jubane remains on track for 2026

Friday (Sept 14, 2025) marked a status hearing in the murder trial of Bryce Schubert, the man accused of killing Beaverton nurse Melissa Jubane last September.

Schubert did not come physically to court, but rather appeared virtually with audio only. It was a quick process — only two minutes — but the courtroom was full with Schubert’s family on one side, along with a big group supporting Jubane.
