OR OR - Michael Bryson, 27, wandered away from friends @ campground party, Cottage Grove, 5 Aug 2020

If his phone was in someone’s car with the battery removed that would mean that someone didn’t want his phone to be traced to that location.
Or maybe he just forgot the charger and was trying to save the battery for later. Not much use for it if there's no cell reception there, so probably no tracing would be possible either.

The latest episode of the podcast was incredibly eye-opening for me.
Amanda interviews a girl who was at the party and was awake at 4am. She really humanizes the partygoers, and they sound like a pretty tight group of young adults who work hard and also happen to use drugs sometimes. I am really sad to hear her describe the harassment the people at the party have endured, and it also sounds to me that Michael compartmentalized his life like many of us do - his family, his friends, his work. All separate areas. Michael's close friends said he recently either ran out of or stopped taking meds for his mental illness, whereas his parents said he hasn't been on those meds in years...

LETS FIND MICHAEL BRYSON!

You can play a major role in getting someone help

Michael Bryson Foundation website has been established & can be viewed at the above link.
This is great and a step in the right direction. However, it still doesn't provide the following in a clear manner (it isn't clear what the purpose is - does this page want to raise money, help people find Michael or offer help to others?):

1. Put the timeline on its own page and include as much information from witnesses as possible (e.g it can be noted what is confirmed fact and what is a witness statement)

2. Outline all of the evidence.

3. Provide a map with the party layout and where searches have been done.

4. Provide a contact form and clear information on how to submit tips. Contact info should be clearly labelled e.g Family, PI, Law Enforcement/Crimesoppers. The intercom chat thing does not show up on mobiles.

Perhaps the above are things those of us on this thread can assist with doing.

They shared it was a work in progress. I agree it’s a step in the right direction.

As far as the goal of the page...
I did see this on the site:

There is a river right there and I am guessing there was some level of intoxication?

Michael Bryson

From the Facebook group, this post confirms his phone was found without a battery in the friend's car. LE has a phone.

This post suggests Michael may be volatile for some reason.
Just a quick rundown
  • 27 years old; Brown hair; blue eyes; 6ft and 180lbs; hair is long past ears; rainbow crocs; white t-shirt; BLACK shorts
  • Last seen @ 4:30 am 8/5/2020 at Hobo Campground while camping with a group of about 80 people when he stated he was going to get some air and walked out of the Bus he was sleeping on; unknown where from there or what direction he walked
  • He has a nose ring; facial hair; heart with hands tattoo on his rib cage; geometric bear tattoo on the back of arm; geometric lion on the back of shin; geometric elephant on the shin
  • Both his parents are camping up at the campground to help with search efforts in the woods.
  • SAR and sheriff's office have been involved as well as hundreds of public volunteers have come out to help
  • Tracking dogs HAVE been up there but the first 72 hours are the most important and they were not able to track his scent.
  • Sheriff's Department and SAR did search the nearby lake with their resources
  • The people present at the party have given statements and been interviewed by police
  • Out of 80, only a handful of party-goers stuck around to help the family and authorities search; those who stayed have been dedicated and resilient in their search to help find Michael.
  • There have been multiple unconfirmed sightings of Michael in the Eugene, OR area about 20 miles from PLS; fliers and searchers are also searching in those areas but it is believed that if Michael were able to see everyone searching for him that he would have contacted his family by now.
  • Michael and his parents are very close and Michael is a very friend and family-oriented individual.
  • Michael went on two mission trips to Africa, would do anything for anyone without asking for anything in return, a very compassionate and kind person.
So, let me get this straight, this man <modsnip> is said to be a family man and is someone who is active in the community? No offense, but this sounds like the average prep kid <modsnip> to hide their true self of abusing either alcohol or drugs. My cousin did this before he went into rehab thankfully, but otherwise, he had a continued struggle with cocaine and alcohol. Maybe this guy was heavily intoxicated, was heading towards the river, and had no recollection of where he was, probably just thirsty for water trying to take a sip and fell in and drowned because he wasn't strong enough to fight the current. I would also investigate every camping member thoroughly to make sure they have no criminal history and to hope that none of them could've killed and buried the body. But it seems to me that the man will probably not be found alive because of the physically geographic scene around the campground.

The search for Michael Bryson continues in the Brice Creek area
email.svg

LANE COUNTY, Ore. — Search and rescue teams are back in the Brice Creek area this weekend, east of Dorena Lake looking for Michael Bryson, the Junction City man who has been missing since August.

The Sheriff's Office says that they were looking through the Cedar Creek campground area on Friday as they follow up on leads.

Bryson was last seen on August 5th when he walked away from "hobo camp" in the early morning. We're told that the search has been going on since then, as deputies follow up on any new information.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THE SEARCH FOR MICHAEL BRYSON

LANE COUNTY, Ore. --- Some of the items Michael Bryson was wearing when he was last seen in August were found close to where he disappeared, according to his father.

Michael's father Parrish Bryson told KEZI 9 News he got a call from a person on Monday who saw something on Brice Creek Road, a mile west of Hobo Camp between Cedar Creek Campground and Lund Park Campground.

Parrish Bryson said the Lane County Sheriff's Office and Search and Rescue teams were notified. He said when they arrived, they found some of the items Michael was last seen wearing.

Bryson said the teams continued to search throughout the week but did not find any more clues. However, the family suspects foul play and believes Michael did not wander away from the Hobo Camp Campground like originally thought.

Bryson told KEZI 9 News he is speaking with a detective Monday morning.

just a guess , possibly receding water or current allowed floatable items like his shoes to wash ashore. Does anyone know approximately where this is in relation to the "swimming hole"?

I just want to point out that there is no way in hell Donovan took a molly and then went to bed 30mins later. It isn't physically possible unless he had taken significantly more ketamine afterwards.

I am very very sorry but if his clothing was found near a creek, could they bring the right kind of dogs out to search along that water again?
I'm thinking of a case where the missing man was found in a river (by volunteer searchers) really not far from where he disappeared at all. It is so sad to think about.
