In the parking lot, Pete Santilli, a radio talk show host from Ohio, said "We know based on history that the federal government will try to take control, and they will try to bring force upon these people," he said. "They will literally kill these people that are here, in order to make their message."

Robert McKnight, 38, who was born and raised in Burns, said he's "worried for these people, not law enforcement." He added that "you got Ruby Ridge, Waco, all kinds of people that have tried to stand up, and they get slaughtered."

Jennifer, a 30-year-old rancher who didn't want to give her last name, said that if a confrontation happens, "it'll be because of the FBI." She added: "These people are not looking for a fight, they just want something to change.(MOO: really? cuz their weapons and words say differently) I mean, they are looking for a fight, but not guns blazing, taking people out."

All of the above is the reason the feds are being patient. They've already been painted the bad guys. I really think if they cut off any possible supply lines to the facility they could wait these people out. They will only stay put so long once the food runs out.

Blaine Cooper and Jon Ritzheimer, militants associated with Arizona militia, said in their one-minute broadcast they need help. They are among 20 to 25 militants lead by Ammon Bundy who seized the refuge Saturday.

"We need you to get up here and stand with us," said Ritzheimer, who said he was taping from his vehicle parked at the refuge entrance. "That's what's going to prevent any bloodshed."
So more people in the line of fire will prevent bloodshed? It sounds to me like someone is getting nervous.

He said there were no roadblocks and a swarm of media.
I don't get this. No roadblocks?

Remember the occupation of Alcatraz?

That went from Nov 20, 1969 to June 11, 1971. No reason for authorities to be impatient, IMO. Time, and cool heads, will largely solve this issue, IMO.

<modsnip>That only ended when the government raided them. So they should let these people occupy these buildings for two years and then raid them? Why not just do it now and get it over with?

The schools are closed for this week. How long will these kids have to miss school before something happens?

I'm not KZ, but IMO it would be nice if this ended without loss of life. Armed LE charging into an armed encampment pretty much eliminates that option. Cutting off the militants supplies and waiting them out could solve this. Of course, LE or the Feds would need to block access to the building which according to recent reports, they haven't done.

Those wannabe's who some people have called vanilla Isis should be treated like children. They want to create an issue and be martyrs.

Let them stay there with no toilets, no water, no heat, no food. They will come out not being heroes but sniveling.

Can they cut off the power to where they are? Have they already? They should ban any vehicles going/to from the area....so no one can deliver anything to them.

IMO, they ought to at least restrict access to and from. No food, no supplies. No children being brought in to visit dad on his crusade. How DANGEROUS! :(

Just starve them out. And when they build a fire, send a chopper over with water to douse it.

Any other group who did this would be already blown to smithereenies.

Interfering with parental rights will only get the ******* militia men more sympathy and support.

There is one road leading to this federal building. I do think one reason why they haven't put up roadblocks is because it will not stop them. My understanding is that the main people doing the occupying are ranchers. Ranchers have the equipment and knowledge to just make their own paths to get there. The terrain isn't going to stop them. I would think it is a lot easier LE to watch the coming and goings on one road then to block it off and having people then coming and going from all different directions. JMO

You have a point. I guess I was assuming that this building isn't terribly big and LE may be able to put up some type of barricades around it. Something like the concrete barricades you see on freeways or in front of building when they don't want vehicles near.

The main 'ranchers' occupying the buildings are from Nevada and Arizona. I am not sure they brought their horses and ranch equipment with them.

This is an attack on the US. These nut jobs need to be tried by the military when this ends.

Geez. Make a road block. Stop everything. This is not some game.

If they get away with this as martyrs, the other nut jobs will be plotting on their heroic stand.

No food, water , heat and elec will end this.

I would not be surprised if they did. According to them this was not done on a whim, it was planned. If that is true, I do think they would of planned for roadblocks, and possibly the power and water being turned off. JMO

I agree ohreally. They could've been stockpiling provisions to be self sufficient for an extended length of time.

From the picture it is a very small building. We are getting such little information it is hard to tell how far they are allowing the authorities up the road leading to it, or if they are even stopping them from coming all the way up to the building.

I do wonder why they chose Jan. 2. Is it because this refuge has a slow period then, because of the holidays?

I thought they chose to start then because the Hammonds were turning themselves in on the 4th.

From what picture? This is a very large complex. They are in control of the entire refuge. No LEOs are going anywhere near it.
