What I want are factual links. I said I had seen the guard tower photo, but nowhere does it say that they can see the entire 187,000+ acres and beyond, let alone control it, let alone prevent snow plows from working. If this is true, I am asking you to back up your assertions with links. You stated these things as facts. I hate to be picky, but we are required to provide MSM links when we make statements claiming to be facts. I'm trying to follow this story with accurate information. If your statements are merely opinions, please say so. Thanks. :)

It’s a fire tower. It’s designed so they can see if a fire breaks out anywhere in the refuge. That gives the gunman a view of the entire refuge. The highways on both sides of the refuge are closed for weather related issues because it’s not safe for plow drivers to enter the area.

Stockpiling water, electricity, heat and food for that many people?

Even if they have a generator, it needs fuel. And showers and toilet. Ugh.
IMO ranchers can survive out there for along time. There is plenty of meat for them to hunt. There are lakes on the property for them to get water from. They are used to being out on the range tending thier cattle weeks at a time they will have no problem using the outdoor facilities. There is plenty of wood to make fires for heating and cooking.
Sadly I think they will have no problem surviving out there.

I see we are at a "stand off" :) so I will assume that you are stating your opinion. It may very well be factual, but it is still not based on linked MSM reports. I have not read that the highways are closed for weather related issues, for example. I may have missed that. Either post links or just say IMO, JMO, or MOO and it would make it a little easier for those of us trying to get a true sense of what is happening.

Does anyone know if the Hammonds have turned themselves in? I believe it was supposed to be this afternoon.

Oregon Ranchers Report to California Prison Amid Armed Standoff

Two eastern Oregon ranchers convicted of arson on federal land turned themselves in to a California prison this afternoon, as militia members -- who say the ranchers are going to jail for a crime they did not commit -- continue an armed occupation of a wildlife refuge in the state that's on federal property.

ODOT Region 5 spokesman Tom Strandberg says two highways remain closed at the request of law enforcement officials dealing with the standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Highway 78 between Burns and Crane (milepost 30-91) and Highway 205 south of Burns are listed as closed due to weather conditions, which is technically accurate according to Strandberg. Law enforcement officials have advised state employees to avoid the area during the standoff meaning the roads aren’t being plowed causing hazardous driving conditions. Strandberg says the roads will remain closed until law enforcement feels it’s safe for crews to work on the roads.
